Monitor Operation This section describes how to use the buttons on the front of the monitor to control all of the monitor’s functions through the On Screen Display (OSD). Please note that the LaCie 730 of- fers no On-Screen Menu. The Color and Power buttons function the same way as on the LaCie 720/724. The Up/Down buttons increase and decrease overall monitor brightness. Other color parameters such as white point and gamma can be adjusted by using LaCie’s blue eye pro calibration tool. Button Functions3.1. Color Press the Color button continuously to cycle through the preset color modes. AdobeRGB ✦ – Places the display in the Adobe RGB color - space. sRGB ✦ – Places the display in the sRGB colorspace. Custom ✦ – Choosing the Custom mode will allow you to manually adjust the brightness and contrast using the OSD menu on the LaCie 720 and LaCie 724. Calibration ✦ – The Calibration color mode is active when LaCie blue eye pro performs hardware calibration on your monitor. Once you have calibrated your monitor, it is recommended to avoid exiting this mode (for example by manually shifting to another monitor color mode) as it en - dangers the accuracy of displayed colors. Emulation ✦ – Secondary calibration mode Up/Down Use to select menu items and to change the values of settings adjustments. Input Press to activate a highlighted menu item. LED ba ckligh t LED ba ckligh t LaCie 720 and 724 LaCie 730 Auto Press to self-adjust to the incoming PC signal. The values of fine, coarse and position are adjusted automatically. Menu Press to open the on-screen menu and exit from the menu screen or close the screen adjustment menu. Power button/Power indicator Use this button to turn the monitor on and off. The button glows white during normal operation, and blinks once as the monitor saves your adjustments. On the LaCie 730 this button becomes blue if a signal cable is disconnected.
LaCie 700 Series LCD Monitors Monitor Operation User Manual page 22 Settings and Adjustments (720 3.2. and 724) Auto adjustment of the monitor set-3.2.1. tings When the AUTO button is pressed, the Auto Adjustment screen appears as shown in the animated screen on the center. Auto adjustment allows the monitor to self-adjust to the incom - ing video signal. Fine, coarse and position values are adjusted automatically (available in analog mode only). To make the automatic adjustment function sharper, execute the 'AUTO' function while the AUTO PATTERN is on. If auto adjustment does not work properly, press AUTO but- ✦ton again to adjust picture with more accuracy. If you change resolution in the control panel, auto function ✦will be executed automatically. Locking the OSD3.2.2. The OSD can be locked to prevent current settings from being changed by accident. To lock the OSD: Hold down the MENU button for more than five seconds. To unlock the OSD : Hold down the MENU button for more than five seconds. NOTe: When the OSD is locked, you can only adjust the brightness and contrast of the monitor. Choosing the Active Video Input3.2.3. Use the up and down arrow buttons to adjust the color tone. When the color tone is balanced between “warm” and “cool” the adjustment value reads as “off.” Maximum “Warm” value is 5 Maximum “Cool” value is 6. Color Control The Color Control adjusts individual R,G,B color balance. Use the up and down arrow buttons to adjust the values of red, green and blue. Gamma Gamma correction changes the luminance of the colors with intermediate luminance. Coarse adjustment may move the screen image area. You may relocate it to the center using the H-Position control menu. NOTe: Coarse control is available in analog mode only. Fine Removes noise such as horizontal stripes. If the noise persists even after fine tuning, repeat it after adjusting the frequency (clock speed). NOTe: Fine control is available in analog mode only. Sharpness The sharpness control adjusts the clarity of the image. Horizontal Position The H-Position control adjusts the horizontal position of the monitor's entire display. NOTe: H-Position control is available in analog mode only. V-Position Changes the vertical position of the monitor's entire display. English, Deutsch, Espanol, Français, Italiano, Svenska, Russian, Portugues, Türkçe NOTe: The language chosen affects only the language of the OSD. It has no effect on any software running on the com - puter. H-Position and V-Position Use the H-Position and V-Position menus to change the position where the OSD menu appears on your monitor. Transparency Turn transparency on to make the OSD menu partially transpar - ent. Display Time The menu will be automatically turned off if no adjustments are made for a certain time period. Image Reset Image Reset returns all image parameters to factory default val- ues. Color Reset Color Reset returns all color parameters to factory default val - ues. Indicator Turns all LEDs on or off. If it seems that the light from the LEDs affects the brightness of the LCD, you can turn off the power to them by setting the Indicator to Off. When setting it to On again, all LEDs will again operate inaccordance with the change in monitor status. Information3.3.6. The Information panel displays the current video source, display mode and resolution of the monitor. Troubleshooting In the event that your LaCie 700 series LCD Monitor is not work- ing correctly, please refer to the following checklist to find out where the problem is coming from. If you have gone through all of the points on the checklist and your monitor is still not work - ing correctly, please have a look at the FAQs that are regularly published on our website – www.lacie.com. One of these FAQs may provide an answer to your specific question. If you need further assistance, please contact your LaCie reseller or LaCie Technical Support (see page 43, Contacting Customer Support for details). Check List Before calling for assistance, check the information in this sec - tion to see if you can remedy any problems yourself. ProblemChecklist Solutions The monitor will not turn on. Is the power cord connected properly? Check the power cord connection and supply. No images appear on the screen. Is there a “Check Signal Ca- ble” message on the screen? If a “Check Signal Cable” message appears on the screen when the monitor is connected properly, check to see if the monitor status is set to analog. Press the ‘[source]‘ button to check the input signal source. Can you see “Not Optimum Mode”, “Recommended Mode 1600 x 1200 60 Hz”for the LaCie 720 or1920x1200 60Hzfor the LaCie 724 on the screen? You can see this message when the signal from the video card exceeds the maximum resolution and frequency that the monitor can handle properly. Adjust the maximum resolution and frequency that the monitor can handle properly. If the display exceeds UXGA or 75Hz, a “Not Optimum Mode”, Recommended Mode 1600 x1200 60 Hz or 192x1200 60Hz for the LaCie 724 message is displayed. If the display exceeds 85 Hz, the LaCie 720 or LaCie 724 display will work properly but the Not Optimum Mode, Recommended Mode 1600 x 1200 60 Hz 1600 x 1200 60 Hz”for the LaCie 720 or1920x1200 60Hzfor the LaCie 724 message appears for one minute and then disappears. Please change to the recommended mode during this one-minute period. (The message is displayed again if the system is rebooted.)

If the initial login screen appears, boot the computer in Safe Mode and then change the frequency of the video card. NOTe: If the initial screen (the login screen) does not appear, contact the Service Center or your dealer. Is the power indicator on the monitor blinking at 1 second intervals? The monitor is in PowerSaver mode. Press a key on the keyboard to activate the monitor and restore the image on the screen. If there is still no image, press the ‘[source]‘ button, then press any key on\ the keyboard again to activate the monitor and restore the image on the screen. Is the monitor connected using the DVI cable? The screen may appear blank if you boot the system before you con - nect the DVI cable, or disconnect and then reconnect the DVI cable while the system is running, as certain types of graphic cards do not send out video signals. Connect the DVI cable and then reboot the system. I cannot see the On Screen Display (OSD). Has the OSD menu been locked to prevent changes? Unlock the OSD by pressing the MENU button for at least 5 seconds. The screen shows strange colors or just black and white. Are images on the screen tinted with a color? Check your video card connection. Make sure the video card is fully inserted in its slot. Have the screen colors be - come strange after running a program or after an applica- tion crash? Reboot the computer. Has the video card been set properly? Refer to the documentation that came with your video card to set it properly. The screen suddenly has become unbalanced. Have you changed the video card or the driver? Adjust image position and size using the OSD. See section 3.3.3. Image. Have you adjusted the resolu- tion or frequency of your video card to the monitor? Refer to the documentation that came with your video card to adjust its resolution and frequency. The screen can be unbalanced due to the cycle of the video card signals. Readjust Position by referring to the OSD. The screen is out of focus or OSD cannot be adjusted. Have you adjusted the resolution or frequency on the monitor? Refer to the documentation that came with your video card to adjust its resolution and frequency. The LED is blinking but there are no images on the screen. Is the Display Timing frequency properly adjusted? Refer to the documentation that came with your video card to adjust its frequency.

Windows ME/2000/XP: Set the colors properly in Control Panel/ Display/Settings. The screen colors have changed after changing the video card. Has the video card been set properly? Refer to the documentation that came with your video card to set it properly. Error message: “Unrec- ognized monitor, Plug & Play (VESA DDC) monitor found.” Have you installed the monitor driver? Install the monitor driver according to the Driver Installation Instruc - tions.
