Preparation 8 After connecting a TV, follow the instructions on pages 10 and 11. ■ IMPORTANT • Connect the main unit directly to a TV (or a mon- itor) without routing through a video cassette recorder (VCR). Generally, the larger the number, the better picture that can be obtained. • “I” refers to the interlaced format. “P” refers to the progressive format. 13 Basic operations The K2 function is designed to provide natural sound by improving the playback sound from low- bit-rate digital sources. The function compensates for sound waves dissi- pated during digital recording compression to approximate the original analog sound. Sound is reproduced with more bits (24 bit) and a wider range of frequency (64 kHz, 176.4 kHz or 192 kHz). 15 Basic operations When the time you specify elapses, the main unit automatically turns off. Press [SLEEP]. • Each time you press [SLEEP], the time indicated in the display window changes. You can set the time to 10, 20, 30, 60, 90, 120, 150 or 180 minutes. Example: Display when the sleep timer is set to 60 minutes Press [SLEEP] repeatedly to select the time again. Press [SLEEP] once.
