WATER g T Turn the Rotary Switch until AROMA is displayed. k T Press the Rotary Switch to enter the programme item. NORMAL g T Turn the Rotary Switch until STRONG is displayed. k T Press the Rotary Switch to confirm the setting. OK, the coffee strength is then adjusted. AROMA g T Turn the Rotary Switch until EXIT is displayed. k T Press the Rotary Switch to exit the programme item. PRODUCT g T Turn the Rotary Switch until EXIT is displayed. k T Press the Rotary Switch to exit program- ming mode. READY Energy-saving mode A default energy-saving mode (Energy Save Mode, E.S.M.©) setting can be selected on the ENA. Programme item ENERGY - / p: ZENERGY - UThe ENA is then in constant stand-by mode. UAll coffee products as well as hot water can be prepared without having to wait. ZENERGY p UAfter approx. 5 minutes the ENA switches to the energy-saving temperature and is not ready for use. UBefore coffee or hot water is prepared, the machine heats up. Example: Changing the energy-saving mode from ENERGY - to ENERGY p. Precondition: READY appears on the display. TOpen the cover behind the Rotary Switch. P T Press the P button until RINSE appears. g T Turn the Rotary Switch until ENERGY - is displayed. k T Press the Rotary Switch to enter the programme item. ECONOMY - g T Turn the Rotary Switch until ECONOMY p is displayed. k T Press the Rotary Switch to confirm the setting. OK, the energy-saving mode is then set. ENERGY p g T Turn the Rotary Switch until EXIT is displayed. k T Press the Rotary Switch to exit program- ming mode. READY Automatic switch-off You can save energy with the automatic switch- off function on the ENA. EThe automatic switch-off time can be adjusted between 0.5 and 9 hours or deactivated ( --- HRS). Example: Changing the automatic switch-off time from 1 HRS to 2 HRS. Precondition: READY appears on the display. TOpen the cover behind the Rotary Switch. READY Units of water The unit for the amount of water can be displayed in either ‘ml’ or ‘oz’. Example: Changing the units of water from ML to OZ. Precondition: READY appears on the display. TOpen the cover behind the Rotary Switch. P T Press the P button until RINSE appears. g T Turn the Rotary Switch until UNIT is displayed. k T Press the Rotary Switch to enter the programme item. ML g T Turn the Rotary Switch until OZ is displayed. k T Press the Rotary Switch to confirm the setting. OK, the units of water are then adjusted. UNIT g T Turn the Rotary Switch until EXIT is displayed. k T Press the Rotary Switch to exit program- ming mode. READY Language The language is selected when the machine is used for the first time.Example: Changing the language from ENGLISH to FRANCAIS. Precondition: READY appears on the display. TOpen the cover behind the Rotary Switch. P T Press the P button until RINSE appears. g T Turn the Rotary Switch until LANGUAGE is displayed. k T Press the Rotary Switch to enter the programme item. ENGLISH g T Turn the Rotary Switch until FRANCAIS is displayed. k T Press the Rotary Switch to confirm the setting. OK, the language is then adjusted. LANGUE g T Turn the Rotary Switch until EXIT is displayed. k T Press the Rotary Switch to exit program- ming mode. PRET 4 Maintenance The ENA has the following integrated mainte- nance programmes: ZRinse machine ZChange filter ZClean machine ZDescale machine EClean or descale the machine or change the filter whenever the appropriate indicator lights up. Maintenance tips To ensure a long service life and the best possible coffee quality, the ENA requires the following daily care: ZEmpty the coffee grounds container and drip tray and rinse with warm water. ZRinse the water tank with clean water. ZWipe the surface of the machine with a damp cloth.
23 ENA 5 ZRinse the nozzle regularly if it is used to warm or froth milk. Rinsing the machine – manually When the ENA is switched on, a prompt to perform a rinse operation automatically appears after heating. When the ENA is switched off, the system is automatically rinsed if a coffee speciality has been prepared. The ‘Rinse machine’ operation can be manually initiated. Precondition: READY appears on the display. TTurn the coffee spout to the cleaning position. TPlace a receptacle under the coffee spout. TOpen the cover behind the Rotary Switch. P T Press the P button until RINSE appears. k T Press the Rotary Switch to enter the programme item. RINSE k T Press the Rotary Switch to start rinsing. RINSIN G, rinsing stops automatically. READY TTurn the coffee spout to the 1 cup or 2 cup position. Changing the filter following a prompt EAfter 50 litres of water have flowed through the filter, its capacity is reached. The ENA automatically prompts you to replace the filter. EAfter two months the filter capacity is reached. The elapsed time can be checked with the date plate on the cartridge holder. EIf the CLARIS filter cartridge is not activated, you will not be prompted to change the filter. Precondition: READY / FILTER is displayed. TOpen the cover behind the Rotary Switch. c T Press the maintenance button. INSERT FILTER TRemove and empty the water tank. TOpen the cartridge holder and remove the old filter cartridge. TInsert the filter cartridge into the water tank, exerting slight pressure. TClose the cartridge holder. It will click into place audibly. TFill the water tank with cold, fresh water and replace the tank. TPlace a receptacle (at least 500 ml) under the nozzle. k T Press the Rotary Switch. OPEN TAP l T Turn the switch to position m. FILTER RINSING, water is dis- charged from the nozzle. ERinsing of the filter can be interrupted at any time. To this purpose turn the switch clockwise. EThe water may be slightly discoloured. This is not harmful to health and does not affect the taste. en en it en it
24 ENA 5 Rinsing of the filter stops automatically, CLOSE TAP. y T Turn the switch to position o. HEATING READY Changing the filter – manually The ‘Change filter’ operation can be manually initiated. RINSE g T Turn the Rotary Switch until FILTER is displayed. k T Press the Rotary Switch. INSERT FILTER TContinue with the third prompt to take action (indicated by T), as described in the section ‘Changing the filter following a prompt’. Cleaning the machine following a prompt After 180 coffee preparations or 80 switch-on rinses, the ENA will prompt you to clean the machine. CAUTION If the wrong cleaning agent is used, the machine could be damaged and/or detergent residues could be left in the water. TOnly use original JURA care products. EThe cleaning programme only lasts about 15 minutes. EDo not interrupt the cleaning programme. The quality of cleaning will be impaired if you do so. EJURA cleaning tablets are available from stockists.Precondition: CLEAN / READY is displayed. TOpen the cover behind the Rotary Switch. c T Press the maintenance button. EMPTY TRAY TEmpty the coffee grounds container and drip tray and replace. PRESS ROTARY TTurn the coffee spout to the cleaning position. TPlace a receptacle under the coffee spout. k T Press the Rotary Switch to start cleaning. CLEANING, water flows out of the coffee spout. The process is interrupted. ADD TABLET TOpen the powder chute for for pre-ground coffee and drop in a JURA cleaning tablet. TClose the powder chute for pre-ground coffee. PRESS ROTARY k T Press the Rotary Switch. CLEANING, water flows out of the coffee spout several times. EMPTY TRAY TEmpty the coffee grounds container and drip tray and replace. READY
25 ENA 5 TTurn the coffee spout to the 1 cup or 2 cup position. Cleaning the machine – manually The ‘Clean machine’ operation can be manually initiated. Precondition: READY appears on the display. TOpen the cover behind the Rotary Switch. P T Press the P button until RINSE appears. k T Press the Rotary Switch to enter the programme item. RINSE g T Turn the Rotary Switch until CLEAN is displayed. k T Press the Rotary Switch. EMPTY TRAY TContinue with the third prompt to take action (indicated by T), as described in the section ‘Cleaning the machine following a prompt’. Descaling the machine following a prompt The ENA builds up limescale deposits over time and automatically prompts you to descale the machine when necessary. The degree of build-up depends on the hardness of the water. JCAUTION If the descaling agent comes into contact with the skin or eyes, this can cause irritation. TAvoid contact with the skin or eyes. TRinse the descaling agent off with clean water. Should you get any descaling agent in your eye, consult a doctor. CAUTION Risk of damage to the machine and residues in the water if the wrong descaling agent is used. TOnly use original JURA care products. CAUTION Risk of damage to the machine if the descaling operation is interrupted. TDo not interrupt the descaling operation. CAUTION Risk of damage if the descaling agent comes into contact with sensitive surfaces. TRemove splashes immediately. EThe descaling programme lasts approx. 40 minutes. EJURA descaling tablets are available from stockists. EIf a CLARIS filter cartridge is used and activated, you will not be prompted to descale the machine. Precondition: DE-SCALE / READY is displayed. TOpen the cover behind the Rotary Switch. c T Press the maintenance button. EMPTY TRAY TEmpty the coffee grounds container and drip tray and replace. AGENT IN TANK TRemove and empty the water tank. TCompletely dissolve the contents of one blister (3 JURA descaling tablets) in a container holding 500 ml of water. This may take several minutes. TFill the solution into the empty water tank and replace the tank. OPEN TAP TCarefully remove the nozzle from the Connector System©. en en it en it
26 ENA 5 TPlace a receptacle (500 ml min.) under the the Connector System©. l T Turn the switch to position m. DE-SCALING, water flows out of the Connector System© several times. CLOSE TAP y T Turn the switch to position o. DE-SCALING, the descaling operation is continued. EMPTY TRAY TEmpty the coffee grounds container and drip tray and replace. TEmpty the receptacle and place it under the Connector System© once more. FILL WATER TANK TRemove the water tank, rinse thoroughly, fill with fresh, cold water and replace the tank. OPEN TAP l T Turn the switch to position m. DE-SCALING, water flows out of the Connector System© several times. The process is interrupted. CLOSE TAP. y T Turn the switch to position o. DE-SCALING, the descaling operation is continued. EMPTY TRAY TEmpty the coffee grounds container and drip tray and replace. TReattach the nozzle to the Connector System©. READY Descaling the machine – manually The ‘Descale machine’ operation can be manually initiated. Precondition: READY appears on the display. TOpen the cover behind the Rotary Switch. P T Press the P button until RINSE appears. k T Press the Rotary Switch to enter the programme item. RINSE g T Turn the Rotary Switch until DE-SCALE is displayed. k T Press the Rotary Switch. EMPTY TRAY TContinue with the third prompt to take action (indicated by T), as described in the section ‘Descaling the machine following a prompt’. Rinsing the Professional Cappuccino Frother To ensure that the Professional Cappuccino Frother works perfectly, you should rinse it with water whenever you have prepared some milk. EThe ENA will not prompt you to rinse the Professional Cappuccino Frother. TRemove the milk pipe from the milk carton or milk container. TFill a receptacle with fresh water and immerse the milk pipe in the water. TPlace another receptacle under the nozzle. TSet the selector lever of the nozzle to the milk foam p or milk t position. g T Turn the Rotary Switch until STEAM is displayed. k T Press the Rotary Switch. HEATING READY appears as soon as the ENA is sufficiently heated. l T Turn the switch to position m. STEAM, the nozzle and pipe are rinsed. y T Turn the switch to position o as soon as clean water flows into the receptacle.
27 ENA 5 Cleaning the Professional Cappuccino Frother To ensure that the Professional Cappuccino Frother works perfectly, you should clean it daily when you have been preparing milk. CAUTION If the wrong cleaning agent is used, the machine could be damaged and/or detergent residues could be left in the water. TOnly use original JURA care products. EThe ENA will not prompt you to clean the Professional Cappuccino Frother. EThe JURA Cappuccino Cleaner is available from stockists. TRemove the milk pipe from the milk carton or milk container. TPour 250 ml of fresh water into a receptacle and add one capful (max. 15 ml) of the Cappuccino Cleaner. TImmerse the milk pipe in the receptacle. TPlace another receptacle under the nozzle. TSet the selector lever of the nozzle to the milk foam p or milk t position. g T Turn the Rotary Switch until STEAM is displayed. k T Press the Rotary Switch. HEATING READY appears as soon as the ENA is sufficiently heated. l T Turn the switch to position m. STEAM, the nozzle and pipe are cleaned. y T Turn the switch clockwise to position o as soon as the receptacle holding the Cappuccino Cleaner is empty. TRinse the receptacle thoroughly, fill with 250 ml of fresh water and immerse the milk pipe in the water. TEmpty the receptacle under the nozzle and replace under the nozzle. g T Turn the Rotary Switch until STEAM is displayed. k T Press the Rotary Switch. HEATING READY appears as soon as the ENA is sufficiently heated. l T Turn the switch to position m. STEAM, the nozzle and pipe are rinsed with fresh water. y T Turn the switch clockwise to position o as soon as the receptacle holding the water is empty. Dismantling and rinsing the Professional Cappuccino Frother T Carefully remove the Professional Cappuc- cino Frother from the Connector System©. TDismantle the frother completely. TRinse all parts thoroughly with running water. TReassemble the Professional Cappuccino Frother and attach it to the Connector System ©. Rinsing the Easy Cappuccino Frother To ensure that the Easy Cappuccino Frother works perfectly, you should rinse it with water whenever you have prepared some milk. en en it en it

TFill a receptacle with fresh water and immerse the milk pipe in the water. TPlace another receptacle under the nozzle. g T Turn the Rotary Switch until STEAM is displayed. k T Press the Rotary Switch. HEATING READY appears as soon as the ENA is sufficiently heated. l T Turn the switch to position m. HEATING READY appears as soon as the ENA is sufficiently heated. l T Turn the switch to position m. STEAM, the nozzle and pipe are rinsed with fresh water. y T Turn the switch clockwise to position o as soon as the receptacle holding the water is empty.
29 ENA 5 Dismantling and rinsing the Easy Cappuccino Frother T Carefully remove the Easy Cappuccino Frother from the Connector System©. TDismantle the nozzle completely. TRinse all nozzle parts thoroughly with running water. TReassemble the Easy Cappuccino Frother and attach it to the Connector System©. Dismantling and rinsing the 2-stage frothing nozzle To ensure the correct function of the 2-stage frothing nozzle, clean it regularly if you have heated or frothed milk. JCAUTION Danger of burns on the hot nozzle and nozzle connector. TWait until the nozzle has cooled before cleaning. TCarefully remove the nozzle from the Connector System©. TUnscrew the nozzle using the opening on the measuring spoon for pre-ground coffee. TRinse all three nozzle parts thoroughly under running water. TReassemble the nozzle and attach it to the Connector System©. Cleaning the bean container Coffee beans may be covered with a slight oil film which remains on the walls of the bean container. These residues may negatively affect the coffee results. For this reason clean the bean container from time to time. Q T Press the on/off button to switch the machine off. TDisconnect the mains plug. TRemove the bean container cover. TRemove the coffee beans with a vacuum cleaner. TClean the bean container with a soft, dry cloth. TFill the bean container with fresh coffee beans, then close the bean container cover. Descaling the water tank Limescale deposits may form in the water tank. To ensure correct function of the machine, descale the water tank from time to time. TRemove the water tank. TIf a CLARIS filter cartridge is used, remove the cartridge. TDescale the tank with a mild, commercially available descaling agent in accordance with the instructions of the manufacturer. TRinse the water tank thoroughly. TIf a CLARIS filter cartridge is used, replace the cartridge. TFill the water tank with cold, fresh water and replace the tank. en en it en it

TFill the water tank (refer to Chapter 1 ‘Preparing and using for the first time – Filling the water tank’). EMPTY GROUNDSThe coffee grounds container is full. You cannot prepare any coffee specialities, but you can prepare hot water or steam. TEmpty the coffee grounds container and the drip tray. TRAY MISSINGThe drip tray is not inserted correctly or is not inserted at all. You cannot prepare any coffee specialities, hot water or steam. TInsert the drip tray. FILL B EA NSThe bean container is empty. You cannot prepare any coffee specialities, but you can prepare hot water or steam. TFill the bean container (refer to Chapter 1 ‘Preparing and using for the first time – Filling the bean container’). CLEANThe ENA is prompting you to clean the machine. TClean the machine (refer to Chapter 4 ‘Maintenance – Cleaning the machine following a prompt’). DE-SCALEThe ENA is prompting you to descale it. TDescale the machine (refer to Chapter 4 ‘Maintenance – Descaling the machine following a prompt’). FILTEROnce 50 litres of water have flowed through the CLARIS filter cartridge, its capacity is reached. TReplace the CLARIS filter cartridge (refer to Chapter 4 ‘Maintenance – Replacing the filter following a prompt’). NOT ENOUGH PRE-GROUNDThere is too little pre-ground coffee in the machine. The ENA stops the operation. TThe next time you make coffee use more pre-ground coffee (refer to Chapter 2, ‘Prepara- tion – Pre-ground coffee’). TO O HOT The system is too hot to begin a maintenance programme. TWait for several minutes until the system has cooled or prepare a coffee speciality or hot water.
