Important: Do not rinse \cor immerse base in water or any other liq\cuid. • Place base on a dry\f level counter to prepare and assemble\f \bollowing instructions in ASSEMBLING THE JUICE \pEXTRACTOR. • Once assembled place the appliance on a level dry space\f allowing air space on all sides to provide proper ventilation \bor the motor. ASSEMBLING YOUR JUICE EXTRACTOR Important: Always make sure your juice extractor is unplugged bef\core starting to assemble. 1. Place juice bowl over base with juice spout \bacing towards the lid locking lever. Lower juice bowl onto the base so that s\ppout slides through the oval ring on the base\p (B). 2. With both hands\f hold\p the filter by the rim and center it over drive sha\bt inside the j\puice bowl. Care\bully lower filter into the juice bowl\f rotating slightly until it drops into place; press down firmly on the rim to secure (C). Note: When assembled properly\f the filter will spin \breely in the juice bowl. To check that it is \p assembled properly\f simply try spinning the \pfilter by the rim. Important: The cutting bl\cades at the bottom of the filter are extremely sharp! Always hold and carry the filter by the rim. Product may vary slightly from what is illustrated. B ENGLISH C
67 3. Place the lid on the ju\pice bowl so that the pulp \p opening is position\ped over the pulp spout. P\position the back o\b the lid \pover the edges o\b the \ppulp spout first; then lower the lid to fit firmly against the base (D). 4. Center \beed chute over lid opening so t\phat the sa\bety lock hook on the \beed chute is slightly to the le\bt o\b the arrow on the lid. Inser\pt three tabs located around bottom o\b the \beed chute into the three slots on the lid. Turn counterclockwise until the s\pa\bety lock hook on \beed chute aligns with the a\prrow on the lid (E). 5. Engage the lid locking lever with the sa\bety lock hook on the \beed chute (F). You should hear a cl\pick as it locks in place. Important: Your juice extractor will not operate if the lid locking lever is not properly locked. 6. Tilt the pulp basket slightly and place it directly beneath the pulp open\ping. Push the bottom o\b pulp container in so top edge slides up be\phind the pulp spout. Continue to press firmly on the bottom o\b the pulp container until it fits\p snugly against the base (G). When correctly positioned\f pulp c\pontainer will be completely covered by the pulp openin\pg in the lid. Tip: To make cleaning easier\f you may wish to line the pulp container with a scrap bag or small trash bag to catch the pulp as you juice. Important: Your juice extractor will not operate unless the pulp container is correctly placed. 7. Place the \broth separator into the juice pitcher. Position the pitcher beneath the jui\pce spout (H). 8. Keep the \bood pusher in the \beed chute until you are ready to juice. To insert\f rotate the \bood pusher until the groove on the \bood pusher is properly aligned with the \pridge in the \beed chute (J). DISASSEMBLING YOUR JUICE EXTRACTOR Important: Always make sure your juice extractor is unplugged bef\core starting to assemble. 1. Remove \bood pusher \brom \beed chute. 2. Press down on sa\bety lock button\f swing lid locking lever away \brom \beed chute. Release sa\bety lock button (K). D E F G H J K ENGLISH
89 3. Unlock the \beed chute by rotating it clockwise to remove it \brom the lid (L). 4. Li\bt up on the lid t\po remove \brom the base. To remove easily\f you may need to li\bt up on the \bront first\f then disengage t\phe back o\b the lid \br\pom the pulp spout on the ju\pice bowl (M). 5. Grasp bottom o\b the pulp container and pull it a\pway \brom the base\f titling\p slightly to release it \brom behind the pulp spout\p (N). 6. Li\bt up on the rim o\p\b the filter over the back o\b the pulp spout. This wil\pl disengage the filt\per \brom the drive sha\bt and you can li\bt it out easi\ply (P). Important: The cutting bl\cades at the bottom of the filter are extremely sharp! Always hold and carry the filter by the rim. 7. Grasp the sides o\b the\p juice bowl with both hands and li\bt o\b\b the base\p. PREPARATION How to prepare fruits and vegetables for juicing. Purchasing and Storing Ingredients: • Always use \bresh \bully ripened \bruits an\pd vegetables. • When purchasing consider selecting \bruits and v\pegetables in season \bor best \breshness and flavor. • Choose \bruits that ar\pe plump\f tender and have bright color. Fruits should be heavy \bor their size witho\put bruises\f cuts or\p blemishes. • To ripen \bruit\f place in a small clean paper bag. Close the bag loosely and let stand at room temperature. (To speed ripening\f ad\pd a ripe apple or banana to the bag.) Once ripened\f store in the re\brigerator \bor a day or 2 until ready to use. • Store perishable vegetables in the re\brigerator until ready to use. Preparing Fruits and Vegetables: • Wash \bruits and vegetables thoroughly just be\bore using in the juic\pe extractor using a natural bristle brush and a biodeg\pradable cleaner to help remove pesticide residue. • I\b desired\f remove the skin. The ski\pn may be le\bt on all produce with the exception o\b: o All citrus \bruits\f \pincluding • Oranges • Grape\bruit • Lemons • Limes • Tangerines Note: The oil in the skin\p o\b these \bruits tastes bitter and is di\bficult \pto digest. When removing skin \brom citrus \bruits\f r\pemove the white pith\f as well\f to keep finished juices \brom tasting bitter. Tip: Although the skin ma\py be le\bt on melons and pineapple\f you may choose to remove them to maximize the \brui\pt flavor in the finished d\prink. • All pits and large seeds should be \premoved \brom \bruits\f includin\pg: o Apricots o Cherries o Nectarines o Mangos o Peaches o Plums o Melons • Remove and discard outer leaves o\b non-organic produce. Peel away any wax coatings. • Trim any bruised or \pdiscolored sections o\b \brui\pts and vegetables L M N P ENGLISH
1011 • The design o\b the \beed chute accommodates larger produce. It will easily accommodate most whole \bruits and vegetables\f such as\f apples\f beets\f carrots and celery. I\b necessary\f cut into large pieces be\bore inserting into \beed chute. • Be sure all parts o\b the j\puice extractor are clean and dry. See the CARE AND CLEANING instructions section \po\b the manual on pag\pe 12. USING YOUR JUICE EXTRACTOR 1. Assemble the \bruits and or\p vegetables to be used on the counter or in a bowl next to the extractor. 2. Place the juice pitcher\f a clean measuring cup o\pr glass under the spout. \p 3. Be sure the pulp container is in place. Note: When using the appli\pance\f do not allow the pulp container to overfill. This may cause the appliance to stall. 4. Plug appliance into standard electrical outlet. 5. Turn the power to the low setting (1) and \pallow it to run 10 seconds be\bore placing any \bood into the \beed chute. 6. Select the low speed (1) \bor so\bt to medium textured \bruits and vegetables; use the high speed (2) \bor hard \boods\f such as\f carrots\f beets and broccoli. 7. Insert the \bruits a\pnd/or vegetables into the \beed chute and use the \bood pusher as a guide to gently direct the produce through the \beed chute. To get the most juice \brom the \bruits and v\pegetables\f do not rush the \p\bood through the appliance. Note: Never place fingers or hands into the \beed chute. 8. The juice extractor will automatically separate the juice and pulp. Note: Both the juice pitcher and pulp basket can be emptied at an\py time. Simply slide the control switch to the o\b\b (0) settin\pg. Be sure to replace both containers be\bore resuming juicing. Important: Both the juice pitcher and pulp container can be emptied at a\cny time. Always slide the control switch to the off (0) sett\cing and allow the motor to come to a complete stop before emptying either. Be sure to replace both containers before resuming extraction. 9. When juicing is complete\f turn the dial to o\b\b (0) and wait \p\bor the motor to come to a complete stop. Allow all remaining juice to drip into juice pitcher be\bore removing it. 10. Unplug appliance and \bollow directions under DISA\pSSEMBLING YOUR JUICE EXTRACTOR. JUICE EXTRACTOR TIPS • Do not put \bood into the extractor be\bore turning the applia\pnce on. • For best results\f re\brigerate \bruits and vegetables be\bore juicing. • Let the appliance run \bor at least 10 seconds be\bore placing any \bood into the \beed chute. • Do not let the juice or pulp container overfill while using the machine\p. Turn the appliance o\b\b\f wait \bor the motor to stop running and any \pjuice to stop flowing. Empty the ju\pice and/or pulp container. Be sure they are properly replaced be\bore resuming operation o\b the extractor. • For easy cleanup\f place a plastic bag inside the \ppulp container be\bore using the appliance. • Do not process bananas\f avocados or coconut. They have no juice and will clog the appliance. • Be sure to remove all pits and large seeds \brom \bruits. • To make delicious citrus\p juice\f peel the \bruit\f removing all the white pith. Re\brigerate till cold and process the \bruit through the extractor \bor a great drink. • For maximum nutriti\ponal benefits\f drink\p your processed juice right a way. FOR OPTIMUM JUICING\c • Avoid excessive build up o\b pulp on\p the underside o\b the cover. • Use the pusher as a \pguide. Do not use\p excessive \borce. Food allowed to flow slowly through the extractor produces more juice. USES FOR THE PULP The pulp \brom the \bruits and v\pegetables is high in nutri\ptional value. Use it to add fiber and flavor to mu\bfins and quick \pbreads. Use it to thicken soups\f casseroles and sauces. Use \bruit pulp t\po add nutrition an\pd flavor to desserts\f such as\f puddings an\pd cakes. Be sure to use it the same d\pay you extract the juice. Pulp is also \bood \bor your garden. 121\b Care and Cleaning This product contains no user servi\pceable parts. Re\ber service to qualified service personnel. Important: Always unplug your juice extractor from the outlet before cleaning. CLEANING 1. Disassemble your juice extractor \bollowing the instructions in DISSASSEMBLING YOUR JUICE EXTRACTOR. 2. Using a sponge or d\pamp cloth\f clean the base\f rubber \p\beet and underside o\b the juice extractor. I\b necessary\f you may use a damp t\poothbrush or cloth to clean juice \brom the inside the d\prive sha\bt (on top o\b motor base). Important: Do not immerse the base in wat\cer or spray with water. Clean only by wiping with a damp\c sponge, cloth or paper towel. 3. All juice extractor parts – except the base – are dishwasher-sa\be (top-rack only) or you may wash in warm\f soapy water\f using any mild liquid dishwashing detergent. Do not use a\pny products containing ammonia or \pscouring powders\f as these can dull\f scratch or mar the sur\bace. Use the cleaning brush provided to remove pulp le\bt on any o\b the removable parts. Do not use\p metal brushes or pads. 4. To clean the \bood pusher properly\f remove the center cap in the cover o\b the \bood pusher. To remove\f grasp cap and li\bt directly out o\b \bood pusher\f using th\pe notch \bor leverage. Once parts are dry\f replace the cap. 5. To clean the filter\f use cleaning brush provided to make sure tiny holes in mesh filter are not clogged. This can be accomplished by holding\p filter basket under a running \baucet while brushing the mesh \pfilter screen \brom both the inside and outside\p o\b the filter mesh. Tip: Pulp \brom pulp container can be used in many \pdi\b\berent ways: making breads\f mu\bfins\f cakes\f soup stocks\f compressed \bacial packs and gar\pden compost material. REMOVING TOUGH STAINS 1. Due to power\bul staining properties o\b carotenoids \bound in many vegetables\f particularly carrots\f we suggest soaking any stained parts overnight in one o\b the \bollowing solutions: • Biodegradable soap in enough wa\prm water to cover juice extractor parts • ¼ cup bleach added to a sink \bull o\b wa\prm water • 1 part warm water to 1 part cider vine\pgar • ½ small box o\b baking soda in\p enough warm water to cover juicer parts. Important: Never use ammonia or \cabrasive cleansers! 2. A\bter soaking overnight\f lightly scrub with so\bt br\pistle brush and liquid \p detergent. ENGLISH STORAGE Store your juice extractor in a clean\f dry place. Never wrap cord tightly around the appliance. Do not put any s\ptress on cord where it enters juicer\f as this could cause cord to \bray and break. OVERHEAT PROTECTION SYSTEM Important: This appliance contains a PTC overheat protection system. When the appliance is being operated for too long or with too much load, the PTC protector will shut down the power of the appliance to protect the unit. If th\ce power shuts down, unplug for 15 minutes and plug in for normal operation.

Stir to blend flavors. Pour into short cocktail glasses. Makes about 1¼ cups (1\p to 2 servings). TROUBLESHOOTING PROBLEM POSSIBLE CAUSE SOLUTION Juice extractor is turned on but will not run. Sa\bety lock may not be closed securely. Turn appliance to o\b\b (0) and unplug. Check that each part o\b appliance is attached correctly and all parts are clean and \bree o\b \bood remnants. Appliance makes loud noises and begins to vibrate. So\bt \boods may have clogged the \bilter. Turn appliance o\b\b (0) and unplug. Remove the \bilter basket and clean with a brush to remove all \bood particles. Motor seems to stall. Juicing may be too vigorous and/or pulp has built up under the cover.Turn appliance o\b\b (0) and unplug. Remove the \bilter basket and clean with a brush to remove all \bood particles. Clean cover be\bore replacing and continuing to juice. Pulp is too wet and not enough juice is being extracted. May be pushing \boods too quickly through the appliance.Use the pusher as a guide; do not use pressure. Turn appliance o\b\b (0) and unplug. Remove the \bilter basket and clean with a brush to remove all \bood particles. Soak the \bilter basket in a solution o\b hot water and lemon juice (this will remove excess \biber \brom the strainer) or wash in the dishwasher on the top rack. Juice leaks between the juice pitcher and the cover o\b the juice extractor. Juice pitcher may not be properly placed. Juicing action may be too \bast.Make sure juice pitcher is \blush with the appliance. Slow down the juicing action.
