COMFORTABLE RECEIVING
■Tone scanBy monitoring a signal that is being operated with pocket
beep, tone or DTCS squelch function, you can determine the
tone frequency or DTCS code necessary to open a squelch.
qSet the frequency to be checked for a tone frequency or
code.
wTurn the desired tone type, tone squelch or DTCS, ON by
holding [7 TONE]with turning [R-DIAL].•One of “TSQL” or “DTCS” appears.
•Even when the pocket beep function is activated, the function is
cancelled when starts the tone...

SET MODE
10■GeneralSet mode is used for programming infrequently changed val-
ues or conditions of functions.
In addition, the IC-R20 has an expanded set mode which is
used for programming even more infrequently changed val-
ues or conditions of functions. When turning the expanded
set mode OFF, only about one third of the set mode items are
displayed for simple operation.D D

Power save
The power save function reduces the current drain to con-
serve battery power. This power save function can be turned
OFF, if desired. In the default setting (“AUTO” selection), the power save func-
tion is activated in 1:4
(125 msec.: 500 msec.)
ratio when no sig-
nal is received for 5 sec. The ratio becomes 1:8
(125 msec.:
1sec.)
when no signal is received for another 60 sec.
