2 HP Photosmart overview Use the HP Photosmart to print photos from a memory card or print labels on printable CD/DVD discs. The Two-sided printing accessory included with the HP Photosmart lets you print on both sides of the page, so you can print brochures and booklets, or just save paper. You can access many HP Photosmart functions directly from the control panel, without turning on your computer. Control panel features The following diagram and related table provide a quick reference to the HP Photosmart control panel features. LabelIconName and Description 1 Color graphics display (also referred to as the display): Shows photos on a memory card. Also shows status and error messages. 2Attention light : Indicates a problem occurred. See the display for more information. 3Left arrow: The left button returns to the previous display screen or photo on the memory card. 4OK: Selects a photo for printing or selects a menu option. 5Right arrow: The right button will navigate to the next display screen or photo on the memory card. 6Print Photos : Prints the photos selected on your memory card. If no photos are currently selected, the HP Photosmart prints the photo currently showing on the display. 7Photo Tray : Selects the Photo Tray for the next photo you print from a memory card. 8Red-Eye Removal : Turns the Red-Eye Removal feature On or Off. By default, this feature is turned off. When the feature is turned on, the HP Photosmart automatically corrects red eye coloring in the photo currently shown on the display. LabelIconName and Description 9Cancel: Stops the current operation and returns to the main screen. 10On: Turns the HP Photosmart on or off. When the HP Photosmart is off, a minimal amount of power is still supplied to the device. You can further reduce power consumption by holding down the On button for 3 seconds. This will put the HP Photosmart in Standby/Off state. To completely remove power, turn the HP Photosmart off, and then unplug the power cord. Display icons The following icons can appear at the bottom of the display to provide important information about the HP Photosmart. IconPurpose Shows the print cartridge status. The color of the icon corresponds to the color of the print cartridge, and the fill level of the icon corresponds to the fill level of the print cartridge. NOTE: The ink level icons will only appear if one of the print cartridges is less than 50% full. If the ink level for all print cartridges is more than 50% full, the print cartridge icons do not appear on the display. Shows that the print cartridge is nearly empty, and will need to be replaced. Shows that an unknown print cartridge is inserted. This icon might appear if a print cartridge contains non-HP ink. Use the HP Photosmart Software The HP Photosmart Software provides a fast and easy way to make prints of your photos. It also provides access to other basic HP imaging software features, such as saving and viewing your photos. For more information on using the HP Photosmart Software: • Check the Contents panel on the left. Look for the HP Photosmart Software Help contents book at the top. • If you do not see the HP Photosmart Software Help contents book at the top of the Contents panel, access the software help through the HP Solution Center. Setup Guide The Setup Guide provides instructions for setting up the HP Photosmart and installing software. Make sure you follow the steps in the Setup Guide in order. If you have problems during setup, check the Setup Guide for troubleshooting information, or see “ Troubleshooting” on page 69 in this onscreen Help. HP Photosmart 2600 series printer User Guide Basics Guide The Basics Guide contains an overview of the HP Photosmart, including step- by-step instructions for basic tasks , troubleshooting tips, and technical information. HP Photosmart animations The HP Photosmart animations, located in the relevant sections of the onscreen Help, show you how to complete key tasks on the HP Photosmart. You will learn how to load paper, insert a memory card, and replace ink.
