Switch cover DescriptionSpare part number Switch cover (includes LED board and LED board cable) 448014-001 Before removing the switch cover, follow these steps: 1.Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system. 2.Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer. 3.Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer. 4.Remove the battery (see Battery on page 47). Remove the switch cover: 1.Position the computer with the front toward you. 2.Remove the six Phillips PM2.5×5.0 screws that secure the switch cover to the computer. 3.Turn the computer display-side up, with the front toward you. 4.Open the computer as far as possible. 5.Lift the rear edge of the switch cover and swing it forward until it rests on the keyboard. 6.Release the zero insertion force (ZIF) connector (1) to which the LED board cable is connected and disconnect the cable (2) from the LED board. 7.Remove the switch cover. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system. 2.Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer. 3.Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer. 4.Remove the battery (see Battery on page 47). 5.Remove the switch cover (see Switch cover on page 61). 2.Remove the Phillips PM2.5×8.0 screw that secures the keyboard to the computer. 3.Turn the computer display-side up, with the front toward you. 4.Open the computer as far as possible. 5.Remove the three silver Phillips PM2.5×5.0 screws that secure the keyboard to the computer. 6.Lift the rear edge of the keyboard (1) until it rests at an angle. 7.Slide the keyboard (2) back to disengage the tabs on the front edge of the keyboard from the top cover. 64 Chapter 4 Removal and replacement procedures
8.Swing the keyboard (3) up and forward until it rests on the palm rest. 9.Release the ZIF connector (1) to which the keyboard cable is attached and disconnect the keyboard cable (2). 10.Remove the keyboard. Reverse this procedure to install the keyboard. Component replacement procedures 65
Speaker assembly DescriptionSpare part number Speaker assembly432994-001 Before removing the speaker assembly, follow these steps: 1.Shut down the computer. Remove the speaker assembly: 1.Disconnect the speaker assembly cable (1) from the power button board. 2.Remove the wireless antenna cables and microphone cable from the clips (2) in the speaker assembly. 3.Remove the two black Phillips PM2.5×5.0 screws (1) that secure the speaker assembly to the computer. 66 Chapter 4 Removal and replacement procedures
4.Remove the speaker assembly (2). Reverse this procedure to install the speaker assembly. Remove the power button board: 1.Disconnect the following cables from the power button board: (1) Power button board cable (2) Speaker assembly cable (3) Display switch module cable (4) Microphone cable 2.Remove the silver Phillips PM2.5×5.0 screw (1) that secures the power button board to the computer. 3.Remove the power button board (2). 2.Remove the two Phillips PM2.5×8.0 screws that secure the display assembly to the computer. 3.Turn the computer display-side up, with the front toward you. 4.Open the computer to an upright position. 5.Disconnect the following cables: (1) Display panel cable (2) Microphone cable (3) Camera cable 6.Remove the wireless antenna cables (4) from the routing channels in the top cover. CAUTION:Support the display assembly when removing the following screws. Failure to support the display assembly can result in damage to the display assembly and other computer components. 7.Remove the two Phillips PM2.5×8.0 screws (1) and the two silver Phillips PM2.5×5.0 screws (2) that secure the display assembly to the computer. 70 Chapter 4 Removal and replacement procedures
