8.Remove the display assembly (3). 9.If it is necessary to replace the display bezel or any of the display assembly internal components, remove the following screw covers and screws: (1) Three rubber screw covers on the display bezel top edge. The display rubber screw covers are included in the Rubber Kit, spare part number 448017-001. (2) Two rubber screw covers on the display bezel bottom edge. (3) Five Phillips PM2.5×8.0 screws. 10.Flex the inside edges of the left and right sides (1) and the top and bottom sides (2) of the display bezel until the bezel disengages from the display enclosure. 11.Remove the display bezel (3). Display bezels are available using the spare part numbers 447998-001 (for dual lamp display assemblies) and 447997-001 (for single lamp display assemblies). NOTE:See Camera module on page 48 for camera module replacement instructions. See Display inverter on page 50 for display inverter replacement instructions. 12.If it is necessary to replace the display panel, remove the four Phillips PM2.5×8.0 screws (1) and the two Phillips PM2.5×6.0 screws (2) that secure the display panel to the display enclosure. 13.Remove the display panel (3). Display panels are available using the following spare part numbers: ●447988-001 (17.0-inch, WXGA+, TFT, dual lamp, BrightView display assembly) ●447987-001 (17.0-inch, SXGA+, TFT, single lamp, BrightView display assembly) ●447986-001 (17.0-inch, WXGA+, TFT, single lamp, BrightView display assembly) 14.If it is necessary to replace the display hinges, remove the two Phillips PM2.0×3.0 screws (1) that secure each display hinge to the display panel. 15.Remove the display hinges (2). 72 Chapter 4 Removal and replacement procedures
16.Remove the left and right hinge covers (3) by sliding them off of the display hinges. The display hinges are available using spare part numbers 432964-001 (for use with dual lamp display assemblies) and 432963-001 (for use with single lamp display assemblies). The display hinge covers are available using spare part number 432965-001. 17.If it is necessary to replace the wireless antenna transceivers and cables, remove the two Phillips PM2.0×4.0 screws (1) that secure each transceiver to the display enclosure. 18.Remove the wireless antenna cables from the clips (2) built into the display enclosure. 19.Detach the wireless antenna transceivers (3) from the display enclosure. 20.Remove the wireless antenna cables (4). The wireless antenna transceivers and cables are available using the following spare part numbers: ●448313-001 (for use with computer models equipped with an 802.11a/b/g/n WLAN module) ●448312-001 (for use with computer models equipped with an 802.11a/b/g or 802.11b/g WLAN module) 21.If it is necessary to replace the microphones and cables, release the retention tabs (1) built into the display enclosure that secure the microphone cables to the display enclosure. 22.Remove the microphone receivers (2) from the clips in the display enclosure. 23.Remove the microphone cables (3) from the display enclosure. The microphones and cables are available using spare part number 432961-001. 24.If it is necessary to replace the camera cable, release the retention tabs (1) built into the display enclosure that secure the camera cable to the display enclosure. 25.Remove the camera cable (2) from the display enclosure. The camera cable is available in the Display Cable Kit, spare part number 432962-001. 2.Remove the eight Phillips PM2.5×8.0 screws that secure the top cover to the computer. 3.Remove the four silver Phillips PM2.5×5.0 screws secure the top cover to the computer. 4.Turn the computer right-side up, with the front toward you. 76 Chapter 4 Removal and replacement procedures
5.Disconnect the power button board cable (1) and the LED board cable (2) from the low insertion force (LIF) connectors on the system board. 6.Release the ZIF connector (1) to which the TouchPad cable (2) is attached and disconnect the cable from the system board. 7.Remove the five Phillips PM2.5×8.0 screws (1) and the two silver Phillips PM2.5×5.0 screws (2) that secure the top cover to the base enclosure. 8.Lift the rear edge of the top cover until it disengages from the computer, and then swing it up and forward until the top cover is resting upside down in front of the computer. 78 Chapter 4 Removal and replacement procedures
9.Release the ZIF connector to which the fingerprint reader board cable (1) is attached and disconnect the cable (2) from the system board. 10.Remove the top cover. Reverse this procedure to install the top cover. Component replacement procedures 79
