    Bottom components
    Item Component Description
    1Subscriber identity module (SIM) slot 
    (select models only)Located inside the battery bay.
    2Battery bay Holds the battery.
    3Battery release latch Releases the battery from the battery bay.
    4Vents (6) Enable airflow to cool internal components.
    ✎The computer fan starts up automatically to cool internal components 
    and prevent overheating. It is normal for the internal fan to cycle on and 
    off during routine operation.
    5Memory module compartment Contains the memory module slot (2 slots on select models) and a wireless 
    LAN module.
    ✎To prevent an unresponsive system, replace the wireless module only 
    with a wireless module authorized for use in the computer by the 
    governmental agency that regulates wireless devices in your country or 
    region. If you replace the module and then receive a warning message, 
    remove the module to restore computer functionality, and then contact 
    technical support through Help and Support.
    6Hard drive bay Holds the hard drive and wireless wide area network (WWAN) module (select 
    models only).
    ✎To prevent an unresponsive system, replace the wireless module only 
    with a wireless module authorized for use in the computer by the

    *The antennas are not visible from the outside of the device. For optimal transmission, keep the areas immediately around the 
    antennas free from obstructions.

    1 Product name This is the product name affixed to the front of the computer.
    2 Serial number (s/n) This is an alphanumeric identifier that is unique to each product.
    3 Part number/Product number (p/n) This number provides specific information about the product’s 
    hardware components. The part number helps a service 
    technician determine what components and parts are needed.
    4 Model description This is the alphanumeric identifier used to locate documents, 
    drivers, and support for the computer.
    5 Warranty period This number describes the duration of the warranty period for
