    thenconnecttheotherendtotheportlabeled1-LINEonthebackoftheprinter.

    3.ConnectaphonetotheOUTportonthebackofyourcomputerdial-upmodem.
    4.Usingthephonecordsuppliedintheboxwiththeprinter,connectoneendtoyourtelephonewalljack,
    thenconnecttheotherendtotheportlabeled1-LINEonthebackoftheprinter.
    NOTE:Youmightneedtoconnectthephonecordtoyourcountry/regionadapter.

    2.Unplugyouransweringmachinefromthetelephonewalljack,andconnectittotheportlabeled2-EXT
    onthebackoftheprinter.
    NOTE:Ifyoudonotconnectyouransweringmachinedirectlytotheprinter,faxtonesfromasending
    faxmachinemightberecordedonyouransweringmachine,andyoumightnotreceivefaxeswiththe printer.
    3.Usingthephonecordsuppliedintheboxwiththeprinter,connectoneendtoyourtelephonewalljack,thenconnecttheotherendtotheportlabeled1-LINEonthebackoftheprinter.
    NOTE:Youmightneedtoconnectthephonecordtoyourcountry/regionadapter.
    4.(Optional)Ifyouransweringmachinedoesnothaveabuilt-inphone,forconvenienceyoumightwantto connectaphonetothebackofyouransweringmachineattheOUTport.
    NOTE:Ifyouransweringmachinedoesnotletyouconnectanexternalphone,youcanpurchaseand
    useaparallelsplitter(alsoknownasacoupler)toconnectboththeansweringmachineandtelephoneto
    theprinter.Youcanusestandardphonecordsfortheseconnections.
    5.TurnontheAutoAnswersetting.
    6.Setyouransweringmachinetoanswerafteralownumberofrings.
    7.ChangetheRingstoAnswersettingontheprintertothemaximumnumberofringssupportedbyyour
    printer.(Themaximumnumberofringsvariesbycountry/region.)
    8.Runafaxtest.
    Whenthephonerings,youransweringmachineanswersafterthenumberofringsyouhaveset,andthen playsyourrecordedgreeting.Theprintermonitorsthecallduringthistime,listeningforfaxtones.If
    incomingfaxtonesaredetected,theprinteremitsfaxreceptiontonesandreceivesthefax;iftherearenofax tones,theprinterstopsmonitoringthelineandyouransweringmachinecanrecordavoicemessage.
    Ifyouencounterproblemssettinguptheprinterwithoptionalequipment,contactyourlocalserviceproviderorvendorforfurtherassistance.
    CaseJ:Sharedvoice/faxlinewithcomputermodemandansweringmachine
    Ifyoureceivebothvoicecallsandfaxcallsatthesamephonenumber,andyoualsohaveacomputermodemandansweringmachineconnectedonthisphoneline,setuptheprinterasdescribedinthissection.
    NOTE:Sinceyourcomputerdial-upmodemsharesthephonelinewiththeprinter,youcannotusebothyour
    modemandtheprintersimultaneously.Forexample,youcannotusetheprinterforfaxingwhileyouare usingyourcomputerdial-upmodemtosendanemailoraccesstheInternet.
