4 - 12 Components and Mounting Diagram Typical Installation Mounting Instruction 1. Attach and secure the mounting plate or bracket to the highest point on the safety cage, following these pre- cautions: The mounting plate or bracket must be mounted so the antenna is not damaged while the vehicle or any of its parts are moving. The antenna mounting portion of the plate or bracket must be parallel to the floor. If the Thor VX9 requires two antennas, they must be mounted at least 12 inches (304.8mm)...

4 - 13 2. Attach the female connector of the coaxial cable to the antenna connector on the vehicle mounted Thor VX9. 3. Secure the antenna to the mounting bracket or plate. 4. Connect the antenna cable to the whip antenna. 5. Use cable ties to secure the coaxial cable to the vehicle as necessary. Make sure the cable is routed so it is not damaged by any moving parts of the vehicle. 6. If the Thor VX9 is using dual 802.11 antennas (diversity option), repeat these steps for the second antenna. WAN...

4 - 14 Connect Vehicle Power The DC/ DC power supply is used to power the Thor VX9. A DC/DC power supply must be used with the Thor VX9 regard- less of vehicle voltage. Determining Power Supply Type Three different types of power supplies have been used with the Thor VX9. Use the table below to determine the type of power supply and follow the relevant instructions for that power supply. Model Numbers Identifying Features 9000311PWRSPLY, 9-60VDC, 60W 9000313PWRSPLY, 50-150VDC, 60W Shown With Lid...

4 - 16 2. If the Thor VX9 is on, perform a shut down. 3. Connect the power cable to the Thor VX9. 4. Route the cable from the Thor VX9 to the DC/DC power supply. Route the power cable the shortest way pos- sible. The cable is rated for a maximum temperature of 105°C (221°F). When routing this cable, it should be protected from physical damage and from surfaces that might exceed this temperature. Do not expose the cable to chemicals or oil that may cause the wiring insulation to deteriorate. Always...

4 - 17 17. If used, connect the wiring from the vehicle to the screen blanking box. 18. Use proper electrical and mechanical fastening means for terminating the cable. Properly sized “crimp” type electrical terminals are an accepted method of termination. Select electrical connectors sized for use with 18AWG (1mm 2) conductors. 19. Provide mechanical support for the cable by securing it to the vehicle structure at approximately one foot inter- vals, taking care not to over tighten and pinch...
