The Control Panel147 Chapter 4 The Control Panel Buttons, Lights, Messages, and Icons The control panel of the printer consists of 7 buttons, 4 lights, and a liquid crystal display (LCD). Buttons This section describes the functions of the buttons on the control panel. Button Description 1 Power button Turns the printer on or off. 2 Pause button Stops printing temporarily. Restarts printing if pressed when the printer is in the pause mode. The printer returns to the READY state when this button is pressed in Menu mode. Clears print data in the printer memory if pressed and held for 3 seconds.
The Control Panel148 3 Menu button rEnters Menu mode when pressed in the READY state. When pressed in Menu mode, a desired menu can be selected. Enters PRINTER STATUS menu if pressed during printing. Cleans the print head if pressed and held for 3 seconds. 4 Paper Source button lSelects a paper source (Roll Auto Cut On /Roll Auto Cut Off /Sheet ) Returns to the previous level when pressed in Menu mode. Enters the cutter replacement mode if pressed and held for 3 seconds. 5 Paper Feed button dFeeds paper in the forward direction. Changes the parameters in the forward order when selecting a desired parameter in Menu mode. 6 Paper Feed button uFeeds paper in the reverse direction as much as the paper has been fed by using the Paper Feed d button. Note: If you have fed the paper forward by hand, you cannot feed the paper in the reverse direction by using this button. Changes the parameter in the reverse order when selecting a desired parameter in Menu mode.
The Control Panel149 Lights This section describes the functions of the lights on the control panel. The lights let you know the status of the printer and the type of an error when it occurs. 7 Enter button Executes the item if the selected item is for execution only. When Sheet is selected, this button ejects the cut sheet if pressed and held for 3 seconds. When Roll Auto Cut On is selected, this button cuts the paper automatically if pressed and held for 3 seconds. When Roll Auto Cut Off is selected, this button feeds the paper if pressed and held for 3 seconds. Then the paper is cut using the manual cutter unit. When the printer is drying ink, this button stops the ink drying process and ejects the paper if pressed and held for 3 seconds. Light Description 1Power light (green)On: The printer is on. Flashing: The printer is receiving print data or shutting down. Off: The printer is off. 2 Pause light (yellow)On: The printer is in the pause mode. Off: The printer is ready to print data.
The Control Panel150 3 Paper check light (red)On: No paper is loaded in the manual feed when Sheet is selected as the paper source. Roll paper is out when Roll Auto Cut On or Roll Auto Cut Off is selected as the paper source. The selected paper source (Roll Auto Cut On /Roll Auto Cut Off /Sheet ) does not match the paper source in the printer driver. The paper lever is in the released position. The loaded paper is too thick for head cleaning. Flashing: Paper is jammed. Paper is almost out. Paper is not cut correctly after the print job when Roll Auto Cut On is selected as the paper source. Paper is not loaded straight. Paper is not detected. Cut sheet is not ejected correctly. 4Ink check light (red)On: The installed ink cartridge is expended. The installed ink cartridges cannot be used with this printer. The maintenance tank is full. Flashing: The installed ink cartridge is nearly expended. The maintenance tank is nearly full.
