    If this is a new printer, you may be prompted to install a printer driver. If no 
    system driver is available, then you will need to provide the path to the 
    available driver.
    4Confirm the printer name, and then click Next.
    5Select Ye s if you want this printer to be set as the default printer, and then 
    click 
    Next.
    6Click Print a test page if you want to verify installation.
    7Click Finish.

    Macintosh Computers
     NOTE: The images used and procedures described in this manual are those of 
    Dell™ 2150cn Color Printer.
    Installing the Drivers and Software
    1Run the Drivers and Utilities CD on the Macintosh computer.
    2Double-click the Dell 2150 Installer icon, and then click Continue.
    3When the popup dialog box prompts you for confirming the program 
    included in the installation package, click 
    Continue.
    4Click Continue on the Wel c o me screen.
    5After reading the Software License Agreement, click Continue.
    6If you agree to the terms of the Software License Agreement, click Agree to 
    continue the installation process.
    7Click Install to perform the standard installation.
    If you want to select a custom installation, click 
    Customize to select items 
    that you want to install.
    • Dell 2150 Color Printer Driver
    • Dell Printer Status Monitor
    8Type the administrators name and password, and then click OK.
    9When the Install Succeeded screen appears, click Close to complete 
    installation.
    Adding a Printer on Mac OS X 10.5 or 10.6
    When Using a USB connection
    1Turn on the printer.
    2Connect the USB cable between the printer and the Macintosh computer.

    The printer is automatically added to your Macintosh computer.
    When Using IP Printing
    1Turn on the printer.
    2Ensure that Macintosh computer and the printer are connected.
    If you use wired connection, connect the LAN cable between the printer and 
    the network.
    If you use wireless connection, ensure that wireless connection is configured 
    properly on your Macintosh computer and the printer.
    3Open the System Preferences, and click Print & Fax.
    4Click the Plus (+) sign, and click IP.
    5Select Line Printer Daemon - LPD for Protocol.
    6Type the IP address for the printer in the Address area.
    7Select Dell 2150cn Color Printer for Print Using.
     NOTE: When printing is set up using IP printing, the queue name is 
    displayed as blank. You do not need to specify it.
    8Click Add.
    9Specify the options that have been installed on the printer, and then click 
    Continue.
    10Confirm that the printer is displayed in the Print & Fax dialog box.
    When Using Bonjour
    1Turn on the printer.
    2Ensure that Macintosh computer and the printer are connected.
    If you use wired connection, connect the LAN cable between the printer and 
    the network.
    If you use wireless connection, ensure that wireless connection is configured 
    properly on your Macintosh computer and the printer.
    3Open the System Preferences, and click Print & Fax.
    4Click the Plus (+) sign, and click Default.
    5Select the printer connected via Bonjour from the Printer Name list.

    7Click Add.
    8Specify the options that have been installed on the printer, and then click 
    Continue.
    9Confirm that the printer is displayed in the Print & Fax dialog box.
    Adding a Printer on Mac OS X 10.4.11
    When Using a USB Connection
    1Turn on the printer.
    2Connect the USB cable between the printer and the Macintosh computer.
    3Start Printer Setup Utility.
     NOTE: You can find Printer Setup Utility in the Utilities folder in 
    Applications.
    4Click Add.
    5Click Default Browser in the Printer Browser dialog box.
    6Select the printer connected via USB from the Printer list.
    7Name and Print Using are automatically entered.
    8Click Add.
    When Using IP Printing
    1Turn on the printer.
    2Ensure that Macintosh computer and the printer are connected.
    If you use wired connection, connect the LAN cable between the printer and 
    the network.
    If you use wireless connection, ensure that wireless connection is configured 
    properly on your Macintosh computer and the printer.
    3Start Printer Setup Utility.
     NOTE: You can find Printer Setup Utility in the Utilities folder in 
    Applications.
    4Click Add.

    6Select Line Printer Daemon - LPD for Protocol.
    7Type the IP address for the printer in the Address area.
    8Select Dell 2150cn Color Printer for Print Using.
     NOTE: When printing is set up using IP printing, the queue name is 
    displayed as blank. You do not need to specify it. 
     
    NOTE: Entry of Location is optional.
    9Click Add.
    When Using Bonjour
    1Turn on the printer.
    2Ensure that Macintosh computer and the printer are connected.
    If you use wired connection, connect the LAN cable between the printer and 
    the network.
    If you use wireless connection, ensure that wireless connection is configured 
    properly on your Macintosh computer and the printer.
    3Start the Printer Setup Utility.
     NOTE: You can find Printer Setup Utility in the Utilities folder in 
    Applications.
    4Click Add.
    5Click Default Browser in the Printer Browser dialog box.
    6Select the printer connected via Bonjour from the Printer Name list.
    7Name and Print Using are automatically entered.
    8Click Add.
    9Specify the options installed to the printer, and then click Continue.
    10Confirm that the printer is displayed on the Printer list dialog box.

    When Using a USB connection

    5Select USB from the menu.
    The 
    Printer Model is automatically selected.
    6Click Add.
    When Using IP Printing

    3Start Printer Setup Utility.
     NOTE: You can find Printer Setup Utility in the Utilities folder in 
    Applications.
    4Click Add in the Printer List dialog box.
    5Select Rendezvous from the menu.
    6Select Dell for Printer Model, and select Dell 2150cn Color Printer.
    7Click Add.
    Configuring Settings
    All the optional accessories are verified as installed.
    Mac OS X 10.5 or 10.6
    1Open the System Preferences, and click Print & Fax.
    2Select the printer in the Printer Name list, and click Options & Supplies.
    3Select Driver, and select the options that have been installed in the printer, 
    and then click 
    OK.
    Mac OS X 10.3.9 or 10.4.11
    1Start Printer Setup Utility.
    2Select the printer in the Printer List dialog box, and click Show Info.
    3Select Installable Options, and select the options that have been installed in 
    the printer, and then click

    Installing Printer Drivers on the 
    Linux Computers (CUPS)
    This section provides information for installing or setting up the printer driver 
    with CUPS (Common UNIX Printing System) on Red Hat®Enterprise Linux® 
    4 WS/5 Client or SUSE® Linux Enterprise Desktop 10/11.
     NOTE: The images used and procedures described in this manual are those of 
    Dell
    ™ 2150cn Color Printer.
    Operation on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 WS/5 
    Client
    Setup Overview
    Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 WS/5 Client:
    1
    Install the printer driver.
    2Set up the print queue.
    3Specify the default queue.
    4Specify the printing options.
    Installing the Printer Driver
     NOTICE: Before you install the printer driver on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4, 
    confirm that Update 5 or higher is applied to your operating system. Consult your 
    Linux distributor for the upgrade of your system.
    1Double-click Dell-2150-Color-Printer-x.x-x.i686.rpm in the Drivers and 
    Utilities
     CD.
    2Type the administrator password.
    3Click Continue in the Completed System Preparation window.
    Installation starts. When the installation is complete, the window is 
    automatically closed.

    Setting Up the Queue
    To execute printing, you must set up the print queue on your workstation.
    1
    Open the URL http://localhost:631 using a web browser.
    2Click Administration.
    3Ty p e  root as the user name, and type the administrator password.
    4Click Add Printer.
    Type the name of the printer in the Name box in the Add New Printer 
    window, and click 
    Continue.
    You can optionally specify the location and description of the printer for 
    further information.
    For network connections:
    aSelect LPD/LPR Host or Printer from the Device menu, and click 
    Continue.
    bType the IP address of the printer in Device URI. 
    cFormat: lpd://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx (the IP address of the printer)
    For USB connections with 
    Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 WS:
    aSelect USB Printer #1 from the Device menu.
    For USB connections with 
    Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 Client:
    aSelect Dell 2150cn Color Laser USB #1 or Dell 2150cn Color Laser 
    from the Device menu.
    5Select Dell from the Make menu, and click Continue.
    6Select Dell 2150cn Color Printer from the Model menu, and click 
    Continue.
    The message 
    Printer xxx has been added successfully. appears.
    The setup is complete.
    Printing From the Applications
    When you have finished setting up the queue you can print jobs from the 
    applications. Start the print job from the application, and specify the queue in 
    the print dialog box.
