back to contents page Operator Panel Using the Operator Panel Understanding the Operator Panel Lights Restoring the factory settings Using the Operator Panel The printer operator panel has two buttons and several indicators that show the status of the printer. 1. Continue button/indicator l Press this button to start single sheet feeder or duplex printing. l Press and hold this button to print the Report page. 2. Ready/Data indicator Indicates the printer status, such as receiving and printing data. 3. Tray 1 indicator Indicates the status of the Tray 1. 4. Single sheet feeder indicator Indicates the status of the shingle sheet feeder. 5. Toner indicators Indicates the toner is low or empty. 6. Error indicator Lights when an error occurred. 7. Jam/Front Cover Open indicator Indicates that a paper jam occurred or the front cover is open. 8. Cancel button Press this button to cancel a job. For details on each indicator, see the table below.. Indicator Status Condition Continue Green on Press the Continue button to start single sheet feeder printing. Green blinks Press the Continue button to start duplex printing. Ready/Data Green on The printer is ready. Green blinks Processing or printing or Warming up. Orange on The Power saver mode or Standby mode. Error Orange on The PHD (Print Head Device), or belt unit, life is coming to an end. Clean the CTD sensor. Orange blinks An error occurred. Orange blinks The PHD, or belt unit life is over. Clean the CTD sensor. Tray Green on Paper is set on the tray. Green blinks Reload paper on the tray.
Understanding the Operator Panel Lights The operator panel lights mean different things, depending on their sequence. Orange or green lights that are off, on, and/or blinking indicate printer conditions such as printer status, intervention (for example, out of paper), or service. Common Light Sequences The following table shows the most common light status. Orange blinks A paper jam occurred. Single Sheet Feeder Green on Paper is set to the single sheet feeder. Green blinks Reload paper to the single sheet feeder. Orange blinks A paper jam occurred. Toner Orange blinks The toner is empty or toner error occurred. Orange on The toner is low. Cancel - Press the Cancel button to cancel a job or clear an error. Jam/Front Cover Open Orange blinks A paper jam occurred or the front cover is open. Operator Call Errors Press and hold the Continue button when an error occurs. Toner Errors Errors in the PHD Unit, Belt Unit, Fuser Unit, and CTD Sensor Fatal Errors The following table shows fatal errors. Restoring the factory settings You can restore the factory settings for your printer if you cannot use the printer with your computer. To restore the factory settings: 1. Ensure that the printer is turned off. 2. Open the side cover. 3. While holding down the Continue and Cancel buttons at the same time, turn on the printer. 4. After all the indicators are turned on, release the Continue and Cancel buttons. 5. After the Continue, Error, and Ready/Data indicators go out, close the side cover. The printer automatically: l Initializes the non - volatile memory (NVM). l Restarts. l Prints the Printer Settings and Device Settings pages. 6. back to contents page Printer Settings You can change most system settings from your software programs. If your printer is attached to the network, you can change settings from the Dell Printer Configuration Web Tool . To launch the Dell Printer Configuration Web Tool , type the printer IP address in your Web browser. To find your printers IP address, see Printing a Printer Settings Page . Settings from the software program update the default system settings for the printer. Settings from the printer driver only apply to the job you are sending to the printer. If you cannot change a setting from your software program, use the Dell Printer Configuration Web Tool . Changing a system setting from the Tool Box or from the Dell Printer Configuration Web Tool makes that setting the user default. Click Start ® All Programs ® Dell Printers ® Additional Color Laser Software ® Status Monitor Console . The Printer Selection dialog box opens. 2. Click Dell Color Laser 1320c listed in Printer Name. The Dell Color Laser 1320c Launcher window opens. 3. Click the Tool Box button. The Tool Box opens. You can also launch the Tool Box from the printer icon on the taskbar. 4. Click the Printer Settings Report tab. 5. Select Reports from the list at the left side of the page. The Reports page is displayed. 6. Click the Start button for Printer Settings. The Printer Settings page is printed You can also print the printer settings page by the following. l Press and hold the Continue button on the printer until the Ready/Data indicator blinks. Using the Tool Box to Change the Printer Settings You can select menu items and corresponding values from the Tool Box. Factory defaults may vary for different countries. These settings are active until new ones are selected or the factory defaults are restored. To select a new value as a setting: NOTE: You cannot print a printer settings page by pressing and holding the Continue button if the password is specified in Set Password of the Tool Box (because the operator panel is locked).
1. Click Start ® All Programs ® Dell Printers ® Additional Color Laser Software ® Status Monitor Console . The Printer Selection dialog box opens. 2. Click Dell Color Laser 1320c listed in Printer Name. The Dell Color Laser 1320c Launcher window opens. 3. Click the Tool Box button. The Tool Box opens. You can also launch the Tool Box from the printer icon on the taskbar. 4. Click the Printer Maintenance tab. 5. Select the desired menu item. Each menu item has a list of values for the menu item. A value can be: l A phrase or word to describe a setting l A numerical value that can be changed l An On or Off setting 6. Select the desired value, and then click the associated button with each menu item. Driver settings may override changes previously made and may require you to change the Tool Box defaults. Using the Dell Printer Configuration Web Tool to Change System Settings If your printer is connected to the network, you can change the device settings from your Web browser. If you are a network administrator, you can clone the system settings of one printer to one or all printers on the network. Type your network printer IP address in your Web browser. Choose Printer Settings from the topics list, and then select the system settings you want to change. To copy your system settings to another printer on the network, choose Copy Printer Settings from the topics list, and then type the other printers IP address. If you do not know your printer IP address, see the printer settings page. To print a printer settings page: 1. Click Start ® All Programs ® Dell Printers ® Additional Color Laser Software ® Status Monitor Console . The Printer Selection dialog box opens. 2. Click Dell Color Laser 1320c listed in Printer Name. The Dell Color Laser 1320c Launcher window opens. 3. Click the Tool Box button. The Tool Box opens. You can also launch the Tool Box from the printer icon on the taskbar. 4. Click the Printer Settings Report tab. 5. Select TCP/IP Settings from the list at the left side of the page. Resetting Defaults After executing this function and rebooting the printer, all the menu parameters, except the parameters for the network, are reset to their default values. 1. Click Start ® All Programs ® Dell Printers ® Additional Color Laser Software ® Status Monitor Console . The Printer Selection dialog box opens. 2. Click Dell Color Laser 1320c listed in Printer Name. The Dell Color Laser 1320c Launcher window opens. 3. Click the Tool Box button. The Tool Box opens. You can also launch the Tool Box from the printer icon on the taskbar. 4. Click the Printer Maintenance tab. 5. Select Reset Defaults from the list at the left side of the page. The Reset Defaults page is displayed. 6. Click Start to initialize the non - volatile memory (NVM) memory. The printer is turned off automatically to apply the settings.
