Wireless Settings
If you want to confi\bure the wire\fess settin\bs on your router usin\b 
the wizard, c\fick Wire\bess.Connection. Setup.Wizard.and refer to 
the next pa\be.
C\fick Add.Wire\bess .Device .with .WPS if you want to add a wire\fess 
device usin\b Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) and refer to pa\be 39.
If you want to manua\f\fy confi\bure the wire\fess settin\bs on your 
router c\fick Manua\b Wire\bess .Network .Setup .and refer to pa\be 41.

Wireless Conne\ftion Setup Wizard
To run the security wizard, c\fick on Setup at the top and then c\fick 
Wire\bess.Connection.Setup.Wizard.
Enter a name for your wire\fess network (SSID), one for the 2.4GHz 
frequency and another for the 5GHz frequency. Do not use persona\f 
information  as  your  SSID  since  users  with  wire\fess  devices  within 
ran\be of your router wi\f\f be ab\fe to see this information.
Then se\fect one of the fo\f\fowin\b options: 
Automatica\b\by:.Se\fect this option to automatica\f\fy \benerate 
the router’s network key and c\fick Next.
Manua\b\by: Se\fect this option to manua\f\fy enter your network 
key and c\fick Next.

If you se\fected Automatica\b\by, the summary window wi\f\f disp\fay 
your settin\bs. Write down the security key and enter this on your 
wire\fess c\fients. C\fick Save to save your settin\bs.   
If you se\fected Manua\b\by, the fo\f\fowin\b screen wi\f\f appear.
Create  a  passphrase  for  your  security  password.  C\fick Next  to 
continue.
Note: The security password/passphrase must be between 8 and 63 
characters and is case-sensiti\fe. You will need to enter this passphrase 
on your wireless clients exactly or it will not\ff connect.

From  the Setup  > Wire\bess.Settings  screen,  c\fick Add.Wire\bess.
Device.with. WPS.
Add Wireless Devi\fe with WPS Wizard
If you se\fect Manua\b, a settin\bs summary screen wi\f\f appear. Write 
down the security key and enter this on your wire\fess c\fients. C\fick 
\fK to finish.
Se\fect Auto  to  add  a  wire\fess  c\fient  usin\b  WPS  (Wi-Fi  Protected 
Setup) and then c\fick Next. Skip to the next pa\be.

PIN:  Se\fect  this  option  to  use  PIN  method.  In  order  to  use  this 
method  you  must  know  the  wire\fess  c\fient’s  8  di\bit  PIN  and  c\fick 
Connect.
PBC:.Se\fect this option to use PBC (Push Button) method to add a 
wire\fess c\fient. C\fick Connect.
Once you c\fick.Connect, you wi\f\f have a 120 second time \fimit to 
app\fy the settin\bs to your wire\fess c\fient(s) and successfu\f\fy estab\fish 
a connection.

Check the box to enab\fe the wire\fess function. If you do not want to use 
wire\fess, uncheck the box to disab\fe a\f\f the wire\fess functions.
Se\fect the time frame that you wou\fd \fike your wire\fess network enab\fed. 
The  schedu\fe  may  be  set  to A\bways.  Any  schedu\fe  you  create  wi\f\f  be 
avai\fab\fe  in  the  drop-down  menu.  C\fick New.Schedu\be  to  create  a 
schedu\fe.
Service Set Identifier (SSID) is the name of your wire\fess network. Create 
a name for your wire\fess network usin\b up to 32 characters. The SSID is 
case-sensitive.
Se\fect one of the fo\f\fowin\b:
802.11b.\fn\by - Se\fect on\fy if a\f\f of your wire\fess c\fients are 802.11b.
802.11g.\fn\by - Se\fect on\fy if a\f\f of your wire\fess c\fients are 802.11\b.
802.11n.\fn\by - Se\fect on\fy if a\f\f of your wire\fess c\fients are 802.11n.
Mixed. 802.11g. and.802.11b - Se\fect if you are usin\b both 802.11\b and 
802.11b wire\fess c\fients.
Mixed.802.11n.and.802.11g - Se\fect if you are usin\b both 802.11n\u and 802.11\b wire\fess c\fients.
Mixed.802.11n,.11g,.and.11b - Se\fect if you are usin\b a mix of 80\u2.11n, 802.11\b, and 802.11b wire\fess c\fients.
The Auto.Channe\b.Scan settin\b can be se\fe\ucted to a\f\fow the DIR-865L to choose the channe\f \uwith the \feast amount of interference.
Indicates the channe\f settin\b for the DIR-865L. By defau\ft the channe\f is set to 6. The Channe\f can be chan\bed to fit the channe\f settin\b for an existin\b wire\fess 
network or to customize the wire\fess network. If you enab\fe Auto.Channe\b.Scan, this option wi\f\f be \u\breyed out.
Se\fect the Channe\f Width:
Auto.20/40 - This is the defau\ft se\uttin\b. Se\fect if you are usin\b both 802.11n\u and non-802.11n wi\ure\fess devices.
20MHz - Se\fect if you are not usin\b any 802.11n wire\fess c\fients.
Se\fect Invisib\be if you do not want the SSID of your wire\fess network to be broadcasted by the DIR-865L. If Invisib\fe is se\fected, the SSID of the DIR-865L wi\f\f 
not be seen by Site Survey uti\fities so your wire\fess c\fients wi\f\f have to know the SSID of your DIR-865L in order to connect to it.
Refer to pa\be 46 for more information re\bardin\b wire\fess security.

Check the box to enab\fe the wire\fess function. If you do not want to

The Auto.Channe\b.Scan settin\b can be se\fe\ucted to a\f\fow the DIR-865L to choose the channe\f \uwith the \feast amount of interference.
Indicates the channe\f settin\b for the DIR-865L. By defau\ft the channe\f is set to 6. The Channe\f can be chan\bed to fit the channe\f settin\b for an existin\b wire\fess 
network or to customize the wire\fess network. If you enab\fe Auto.Channe\b.Scan, this option wi\f\f be \u\breyed out.

20MHz - Se\fect if you are not usin\b any 802.11n wire\fess c\fients. 
20/40MHz.(Auto) - This is the defau\ft se\uttin\b. Se\fect if you are usin\b both 802.11n\u and non-802.11n wi\ure\fess devices.
20/40/80MHz. (Auto) - Se\fect if you are usin\b 802.11ac, 802.11n and non-802.11n wire\fess devices. This option is on\fy avai\fab\fe when the 802.11 Mode is set 
to Mixed 802.11ac.
Se\fect Invisib\be if you do not want the SSID of your wire\fess network to be broadcasted by the DIR-865L. If Invisib\fe is se\fected, the SSID of the DIR-865L wi\f\f 
not be seen by Site Survey uti\fities so your wire\fess c\fients wi\f\f have to know the SSID of your DIR-865L in order to connect to it.

If you want to wire\fess\fy connect mu\ftip\fe Ethernet-enab\fed devices such as \bame conso\fes, media p\fayers, or network attached 
stora\be (NAS) devices you can set the DIR-8\u65L to Brid\be mode. You must have a wire\fess router for this feature. 
Note: For 802.11ac performance, you must connect to another 802.11ac wireless router. The DI\b-865L will automatically adjust to 
the connection type of your router.

Section 3 - Confi\buration
To  confi\bure  your  DIR-865L  router  to  brid\be  mode,  fo\f\fow  the  steps 
be\fow:
Step.1 .-  From  the Setup  > Internet  pa\be,  c\fick Manua\b .Internet.
Connection .Setup and then check the Enab\be .Wire\bess .Bridge box.  
C\fick Save .Settings and then c\fick \fK to the pop-up messa\be.
Note: When you enable Bridge mode, the DI\b-865L’s default IP address will 
change to 192.168.0.50. 
Step .2 .- The fo\f\fowin\b messa\be wi\f\f appear. The router wi\f\f automatica\f\fy 
reboot. 
Step .3 .- Once the router reboots, you may \bet a “connect disp\fay pa\be” 
error on your web browser. This is because the IP address of the router 
chan\bed.  In  your  web  browser,  enter http://192.168.0.50  to  access 
the web interface.  
Step .4 .- At the \fo\bin screen, enter admin for the User Name and enter 
your password (\feave b\fank by defau\ft).
Step .5 .- From the Setup > Wire\bess .Settings pa\be, c\fick the Site .Survey 
button. This wi\f\f disp\fay a \fist of wire\fess networks in your area.
You  may  a\fso  manua\f\fy  enter  the  wire\fess  network  name  you  want 
to  connect  to  (SSID)  and  any  security/encryption  settin\bs  (from  the 
Security .Mode  drop-down  menu).  Enter  your  wire\fess  network 
information, c\fick Save .Settings, and then skip to step 7.

Step.6 .- When the site survey screen appears, se\fect the network you 
want to connect to (c\fick the radio button under Se\bect) and then c\fick 
Connect.
If  the  network  is  secure/encr ypted,  you  wi\f\f  need  to  enter  the 
passphrase/encryption key. 
P\fease a\f\fow a minute to connect.
Step .7 .-  Once  connected,  any  Ethernet  device  connected  to  the
DIR-865L wi\f\f connect to the wire\fess network. 
Note: Wireless clients cannot connect to the DI\b-865L while in bridge mode. 
Also, the Internet port on the DI\b-865L in Bridge mode will not function.
