Prepare the computer for disassembly (Section 5.3). 2. Remove the palm rest (Section 5.14). 3. Turn the palm rest bottom side up with the speaker grilles facing forward. 4. Remove the two TM2.5 × 5.0 screws 1 that secure the display release assembly to the palm rest (Figure 5-36). 5. Remove the assembly 2 from the palm rest. Figure 5-36. Lift the front edge of the charger board shield 2 until it clears the base enclosure, then slide the shield forward to remove it. 5. Lift up on the back edge of the charger board 3 to disconnect it from the system board. 6. Remove the charger board 4 from the base enclosure. Figure 5-37. Swing the battery bay support bracket 2 to the right until it clears the right edge of the speaker assembly. 6. Lift the front edge of the speaker assembly until it rests at an angle 3. 7. Prepare the computer for disassembly (Section 5.3) and remove the following components: a. LED cover (Section 5.9) b. Keyboard (Section 5.10) c. Heat spreader (Section 5.11) d. Remove the three TM2.5 × 5.0 screws 1 that secure the top cover to the base enclosure (Figure 5-40). 6. Lift the top cover straight up 2 approximately one inch, then slide it forward 3 until the microphone cable 4 is exposed. 7. Disconnect the microphone cable 5 from the system board. 8. Remove the microphone 6 from the top cover. 9. Remove the top cover from the base enclosure. Figure 5-40. The system board-to-TouchButton board cable is included in the Miscellaneous Cable Kit, spare part number 285540-001. 10. Release the ZIF connector 1 to which the system board-to-TouchButton board cable is attached and disconnect the cable 2 from the system board (Figure 5-41). Figure 5-41.
