    							Scanning and Saving Items as PDF Files (PDF Buttons)You can save scanned images as PDF files.1.
    Place the item on the platen.

    Press  (SCAN START button).
    Descriptions of the PDF buttons on the scanner appear.

    Read the descriptions and click  OK.

    Select the  Do not show this message again  checkbox to scan items continuously using the
    buttons on the scanner only.
    Scanning starts.
    4.
    Press  (SCAN START button) to add a page or  (FINISH button) to end.
    A message appears after the scan.

    Adding a page:
    Press 
     (SCAN START button). After the additional page is scanned, the message appears
    again.
    •
    Ending:
    Press 
     (FINISH button) on the scanner.
    The scanned images are saved in PDF format.

    You can scan items by automatically detecting the item type and save them to a computer.1.

    Scanning starts.

    Scanned images are saved in the folder set for  Save in in the Settings (AUTO SCAN)  dialog box
    displayed by clicking  Settings.... In the Settings (AUTO SCAN)  dialog box, you can also make
    advanced scan settings.

    							Scanning and Printing/Copying Items (COPY Button)You can scan items and print them on a printer.

    Prepare the printer when printing with the  COPY button. Refer to the manual of your printer to prepare
    it.

    Scanning starts. The scanned image is printed on a printer.

    Additionally, specify the scanner button settings via IJ Scan Utility to scan easily according to use.

    Log on to an administrator account before making the settings.
    Windows 8.1 / Windows 8:
    1.
    Click the  Settings charm >  Control Panel  > Hardware and Sound  > Devices and
    Printers .
    2.
    Right-click the icon of your scanner, then select  Scan properties.
    3.
    In the User Account Control  dialog box, click Yes.
    4.
    In Actions  on the Events tab, set IJ Scan Utility as the application to start.
    Set  Canon IJ Scan Utility  for all events in Select an event.
    If IJ Scan Utility is already set, click  Cancel to end.
    5.
    Click OK.
    Windows 7:
    1.
    From the  Start menu, select  Devices and Printers .
    2.
    Right-click the icon of your scanner, then select  Scan properties.
    3.
    In the User Account Control  dialog box, click Yes.
    4.
    In Actions  on the Events tab, set IJ Scan Utility as the application to start.
    Set  Canon IJ Scan Utility  for all events in Select an event.
    If IJ Scan Utility is already set, click  Cancel to end.
    5.
    Click OK.
    Windows Vista:
    1.
    From the  Start menu, select  Control Panel  > Hardware and Sound  > Scanners and
    Cameras .

    							2.Select CanoScan XXX  (where "XXX" is the model name), then click  Properties.3.
    In the User Account Control  dialog box, click Continue.
    4.
    In the CanoScan XXX Properties  dialog box (where "XXX" is the model name), select
    the  Events  tab.
    5.
    In Actions  on the Events tab, set IJ Scan Utility as the application to start.
    Set  Canon IJ Scan Utility  for all events in Select an event.
    If IJ Scan Utility is already set, click  Cancel to end.
    6.
    Click OK.
    Windows XP:
    1.
    From the  Start menu, select  Control Panel  > Printers and Other Hardware .
    2.
    In the resulting screen, click Scanners and Cameras.
    3.
    Right-click CanoScan XXX  (where "XXX" is the model name), then click  Properties.
    4.
    In Actions  on the Events tab, set IJ Scan Utility as the application to start.
    Set  Canon IJ Scan Utility  for all events in Select an event.
    If IJ Scan Utility is already set, click  Cancel to end.
    5.
    Click OK.
