    Print Head Cleaning
    If missing lines or white stripes are found in the printed nozzle check pattern, perform Print 
    Head cleaning to unclog the Print Head Nozzles. Cleaning the Print Head consumes ink, so 
    perform Print Head cleaning only when necessary.
    1Ensure that the printer is turned on.
    2Open the Printer Properties dialog box.

    page 29. Note• The Print Head can also be cleaned by pressing the RESUME/CANCEL
    RESUME/CANCELRESUME/CANCEL RESUME/CANCEL button 
    on the printer.
    1. Ensure that the printer is turned on.
    2. Hold down the RESUME/CANCEL
    RESUME/CANCELRESUME/CANCEL RESUME/CANCEL button until the POWER
    POWERPOWER POWER lamp flashes 
    once, and then release it.
    • If you pressed the Cleaning button on the Examining the Nozzle Check 
    Pattern screen displayed after the nozzle check pattern was printed, start 
    the Print Head cleaning procedure from 3-(3).

    3 Start Print Head Cleaning.
    (4)When the confirmation message is displayed, click OK
    OKOK OK.
    Print Head cleaning starts when the POWER lamp starts blinking.
    ImportantDo not perform any other operations until the Print Head cleaning 
    finishes. This takes about 60 seconds.
    (1)Click the Maintenance
    MaintenanceMaintenance Maintenance tab.
    (2)Click Cleaning
    CleaningCleaning Cleaning.
    (3)Select the ink nozzle group to be 
    cleaned, then click Execute

    4Check the Print Head condition.
    (1)Click Print Check Pattern
    Print Check PatternPrint Check Pattern Print Check Pattern in the Nozzle Check dialog appeared after cleaning is 
    complete.
    When the confirmation message is displayed, click OK.
    A nozzle check pattern will be printed.
    Do not perform any operation until printing of the nozzle check pattern is 
    completed.
    (2)Observe the printed nozzle check pattern to check the Print Head condition.

    (3)If the problem persists after you performed Print Head normal cleaning three 
    times, execute Print Head deep cleaning.

    1Ensure that the printer is turned on.
    2Open the BJ Printer Utility dialog box.
    (1)Double-click the hard disk icon where the printer driver was installed, the 
    Applications
    ApplicationsApplications Applications folder, and the Utilities
    UtilitiesUtilities Utilities folder.
    (2)Double-click the Printer Setup Utility
    Printer Setup UtilityPrinter Setup Utility Printer Setup Utility icon.
    If you are using an OS other than Mac OS X v.10.3, double-click the Print Center

    icon.
    (3)Select iP90
    iP90iP90 iP90 from the Name

    (4)Select iP90

    ImportantDo not perform any other operations until the Print Head cleaning

    (1)Click Print Check Pattern

    A nozzle check pattern will be printed.
    Do not perform any operation until printing of the nozzle check pattern is 
    completed.
    (2)Observe the printed nozzle check pattern to check the Print Head condition.

    If print quality does not improve by standard Print Head cleaning, try Print Head deep 
    cleaning, which is a more powerful process. Print Head deep cleaning consumes more ink 
    than standard Print Head cleaning, so perform this procedure only when necessary.
    1Ensure that the printer is turned on.
    2Open the Printer Properties dialog box.

    is completed (about two to three minutes).
