167 Troubleshooting „ Errors Often Occur When You Send a Fax Telephone Problems „Cannot Dial „ Telephone Disconnects During a Call You are scanning thick or curled documents. Thick or curled documents may not be sent in good quality, because of a shadow or distortion caused when scanning such documents. Press on the Document Cover with your hand when scanning. CauseAction The telephone line condition or the connection is poor.If there is a poor line or connection, reducing the transmission start speed may correct the error. Reduce the transmission start speed. Refer to “TX start speed” in “Device Settings” of the User’s Guide on-screen manual. CauseAction The telephone line is not correctly connected. On the bottom of this equipment is a label that contains, among other information, a product identifier in the format US:AAAEQ##TXXXX. If requested, this number must be provided to the telephone company. The REN is used to determine the number of devices that may be connected to a telephone line. Excessive RENs on a telephone line may result in the devices not ringing in response to an incoming call. In most but not all areas, the sum of RENs should not exceed five (5.0). To be certain of the number of devices that may be connected to a line, as determined by the total RENs, contact the local telephone company.
