8-2 You can set the camera so that the following data is saved automatically to the cameras SD memory card. (“Chapter 5 Setting Page”, “[Memory Card] SD Memory Card Operations and Settings” (p. 5-30)). JPEG images when recording-mode stream transmission failed to be sent due to network errors JPEG images when HTTP or FTP upload failed „Access to the SD Memory Card The SD memory card cannot be accessed by a web browser. Use the SD Card Utility (p. 1-4) or FTP software (not included) to access the camera using the cameras IP address. FTP Software Settings Address: Camera IP address (factory default setting: 192.168.100.1) User ID: Administrator user ID (factory default setting: root) Password: Administrator password (factory default setting: camera) SD Memory Card Access
SD Memory Card Access 8-3 8 Appendix „JPEG Images Stored when Recording-Mode Stream Transmission Fails The included SD Card Utility displays or deletes JPEG images saved on an SD memory card. It can also convert saved images into MOV files and save them to a computer. FTP software can be used to download JPEG images to a computer, but you will need to use the SD Card Utility (p. 1-4) to play back the images. When either the storage capacity of the SD memory card or the upper limit of the number of files that can be saved is reached, you cannot save further images to the SD memory card. If this happens, delete any unneeded JPEG images to free up capacity on the SD memory card. „JPEG Images Stored when Uploading Fails FTP software can be used to download the JPEG images to a computer, but the images will be still image files. The images cannot be downloaded as files that can be played back as video. When either the storage capacity of the SD memory card or the upper limit of the number of files that can be saved is reached, you cannot save further images to the SD memory card. If this happens, delete any unneeded JPEG images to free up capacity on the SD memory card. „Log Files Log files can be downloaded to a PC using FTP software, but you can use the Log Viewer in Admin Tools as a simple way to view and download log files. Important The SD card utility can only display, delete, or convert JPEG images of stream recordings that could not be transmitted due to network errors. Important Canon will assume no liability for any accident or damage resulting from use of FTP software.

If you are using a PoE hub, check if the LAN cable is connected correctly. If you are using an AC adapter (optional), check if the AC adapter is connected correctly. Turn the camera off and on again (See “Connecting the Camera” in the “Installation Guide”). VB Initial Setting Tool does not operate. Check if the LAN cable is connected correctly. Turn the camera off and on again (See “Connecting the Camera” in the “Installation Guide”). The camera no longer responds to VB Initial Setting Tool 20 minutes after being turned on. Check if the camera and the PC in which the VB Initial Setting Tool is operating are connected to the LAN in the same segment. The VB Initial Setting Tool may not function when the [Windows Firewall] function is enabled. In this case, see “Notes on Use When the [Windows Firewall] Function is Enabled” (p. 1-7). Check if you are using an older version of the VB Initial Setting Tool. Camera Angle Setting Tool does not operate. Check if the LAN cable is connected correctly. Check if the camera and the PC in which the Camera Angle Setting Tool is operating are connected to the LAN in the same segment. “Application could not be started. Install .NET Framework 3.5 (SP1 or later).” If this message is displayed, install .NET Framework 3.5 (SP1 or later) or enable settings (p. 1-6). The top page of the camera is not displayed. Check if the LAN cable is connected correctly. Check if the network to which the camera is connected is set up correctly. In particular, check if the IP address, subnet mask and default gateway address are set within the ranges supported by the applicable network. If you have changed the IP address, the new address will not become effective until the camera is rebooted. Check if the correct URI (camera IP address) is entered in your web browser (p. 4-2, p. 5-32, p. 7-5). Check whether the connection is from a computer whose access is blocked in [Access Control] on the Setting page. The Admin Tools will not start. The Admin Viewer will not start. “Your web browser is not supported.” If this message is displayed, use Internet Explorer 7 or later. “Application could not be started. Install .NET Framework 3.5 (SP1 or later).” If this message is displayed, install .NET Framework 3.5 (SP1 or later) or enable settings (p. 1-6). “Application could not be started. Install .NET Framework 4.5.” If this message is displayed, install .NET Framework 4.5 or enable settings (p. 1-6). “JavaScript is not available or disabled on your web browser.” If this message is displayed, set [Active Script] to [Enable] in Internet Explorers security settings. (See (2) below for instructions on how to set this.) “The settings from (1) to (3) below must be carried out to use the Admin Viewer and Admin Tools.” If this message is displayed, set the following. (1) Use the installer to install your Admin Tools Certificate (p. 2-4). (2) When using Internet Explorer 9 or greater, follow the steps in “Registering the Top Page of the Camera as a Trusted Site” (p. 1-7) and add this web site to [Trusted sites] in Internet Explorers security settings. (3) In Internet Explorer click [Tools] > [Internet Options] > [Security] > [Custom level] and under the Security Settings list, set [XAML browser applications], [File download] and [Launching programs and files in an IFRAME] to [Enable]. Video is not displayed. To improve video quality, refer to “[Video] Setting Image Size, Quality and Frame Rate” in “Chapter 5 Setting Page” (p. 5-13) to change settings and make adjustments. Up to 30 viewers can access the camera at the same time. If this limit has been exceeded, video is not displayed and a message appears.
Troubleshooting 8-7 8 Appendix The image is not displayed in the Viewer PTZ panel. If the [Maximum Number of Clients] is configured to 0 under [Server] > [Image Server] in the setting page, the image will not be displayed in the Viewer PTZ panel. Increase the number in [Maximum Number of Clients]. The image disappears from the Viewer PTZ panel. The time that the image will be displayed in the Viewer PTZ panel is the time configured in [Maximum Connection Time (sec.)] under [Server] > [Image Server] in the setting page. If the value is set to 0, the connection time becomes unlimited. Take note, however, that this time affects not only the Viewer PTZ panel, but also the time that individual clients can connect to the camera. There is no audio. If there is no audio, check the audio server settings of the camera and also check the sound and audio device settings for the PC. If you are using the Admin Viewer with the administrator authorities, check if the camera is connected to the RM Viewer or another viewer that lets the administrator use audio. Audio cannot be received if you are using a proxy server. Audio cannot be used when connected via SSL encrypted communications. Audio reception functions cannot be used during IPv6 connection. Audio cannot be used if add-ons are not installed. The camera cannot be controlled. If you connect the Admin Viewer as an administrator, you will have exclusive possession of the camera control privileges. If you connect to the Admin Viewer as an Authorized User, you cannot control the camera unless the administrator releases camera control. Consult the Administrator (p. 7-2). The viewer gets disconnected. Check the network and PC for abnormality. Reboot the PC and connect again. You forgot your password. You can initialize all settings of the camera excluding date and time using the reset switch (p. 8-18). The administrator password required for initialization is “camera”. Note, however, that network settings such as the IP address and subnet mask will be initialized and must be set again. Data cannot be uploaded. Check the upload destination in the [Upload] menu, as well as the upload operation upon event in the [Event] menu, to see if both are set correctly. You can perform an operation check based on the currently set upload destination by running a test (p. 5-16) from the [Upload] menu. Check [View Logs] in the [Maintenance] menu or logs on the server to check the detailed operating environment. For [View Logs], see “Application (uploader) messages” (p. 8-9). Also see “Important” in p. 5-15. For the server settings, contact your System Administrator. You cannot use recording-mode stream transmission. You cannot use recording-mode stream transmission if [Upload] in the [Upload] menu is set to HTTP or FTP. Set [Upload] to [Upload Disabled] (p. 5-15). Files cannot be saved in the setting page or Admin Tools. Saving to certain folders is prohibited in Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2012. Accordingly, an attempt to save a file may fail. Specify [Documents], [Pictures] and other folders. Black bars appear on panorama images. If you create or save panorama images while [Dome] is set to [Use] under [Installation Conditions] in the [Camera] menu, black bars will appear in the panorama images. Set [Dome] to [Do not use] when creating or saving panorama images, and return the setting to [Use] when necessary. ProblemCountermeasures
