Shooting with the LCD Monitor
(Live View Shooting)
You can shoot while viewing the picture on the camera’s 
LCD monitor. This is called “Live View shooting”. 
If you handhold the camera and shoot while viewing the 
LCD monitor, camera shak e can cause blurred images. 
Using a tripod is recommended.
Remote Live View ShootingWith EOS Utility (EOS software, p.166) installed on your computer, 
you can connect the camera to t he computer and shoot remotely

1Display the Live View image.
Press the < A> button.
 The Live View image will appear on 
the LCD monitor. In the  mode, 
the scene icon for the scene detected 
by the camera is displayed on the 
upper left.
 By default, Continuous AF will take 
effect.
 The Live View image will closely 
reflect the brightness level of the 
actual image you capture.

You can select the AF (autofocus) operation characteristics suiting the 
shooting conditions or s ubject. In Basic Zone modes, the optimum AF 
operation is set for the respective shooting mode.
1Press the  button.
The Quick Control screen will appear.
2Select [X].
 Press the < W> < X> keys to select 
[X ] (AF operation) on the 
screen’s left side.

Suited for still subjects. When you press the shutter button 
halfway, the camera will focus only once.
When focus is achieved, the AF po int will turn green and the beeper 
will sound.
 While you hold down the shutter button halfway, the focus will be 
locked. You can then recompose the shot if desired.
This AF operation is suited for moving subjects. While you hold 
down the shutter button halfway, the camera will keep focusing on 
the subject continuously.

You can select an AF method to suit the shooting conditions and your 
subject. The following AF methods are provided: [u(face)+Tracking ], 
[FlexiZone - Multi ] (p.138), and [FlexiZone - Single ] (p.140).
If you want to achieve precise focus, set the lens focus mode switch to 
< MF >, magnify the image, and focus manually (p.142).
Select the AF method.
Under the [A ] tab, select [AF

subject. If the subject is not a face, < z> will be displayed.
 If no faces can be detected, or if you tap on the LCD monitor but do 
not select any face or subject, the camera will switch to [ FlexiZone - 
Multi ] with automatic selection (p.138).
