Changing the Autofocus Method (AF Method)
3Focus the subject.
 Aim the AF point over the subject and 
press the shutter button halfway.
X The Live View image will turn off, the 
reflex mirror will go back down, and 
AF will be executed. (No picture is 
taken.)
X When focus is achi eved, the AF point 
that achieved focus will turn green 
and the Live View image will 
reappear.
X If focus is not achieved, the AF point

Just by tapping the LCD monitor screen, you can focus and take the 
picture automatically. This works in all shooting modes.
1Display the Live View image.
 Press the < A> button.
X The Live View image will appear on 
the LCD monitor.
2Enable the touch shutter.
  Tap [y ] on the screen’s bottom left. 
Each time you tap the icon, it will 
toggle between [ y] and [x].

 Even if < i> (continuous shootin g)  is set, single shooting will take 
effect.
  The touch shutter does  not function when the view is magnified.
  When [6: Shutter/AE lock button]  is set to [1: AE lock/AF ] or [3: AE/
AF, no AE lock ] under [54: Custom Functions (C.Fn) ], autofocusing 
does not take effect.
  You can also enable the to uch shutter by setting [Touch Shutter: 
Enable ] in the [A ] tab.

You can magnify the image and focus precisely with manual focus.
1Set the lens focus mode switch to

 Turn the lens focusing ring to focus 
roughly.
2Display the magnifying frame.
 Press the < u> button.
X The magnifying frame will appear.
  You can also tap [ ] on the screen to 
magnify the image.
3Move the magnifying frame.
 Press the < S> key to move the

Live View Shooting Cautions
Image Quality When you shoot at high ISO speeds,  noise (such as dots of light and 
banding) may become noticeable.
  Shooting in high temperatures may  cause noise and irregular colors in 
the image.
  If Live View shooting is used contin uously for a long period, the camera’s 
internal temperature may rise, and im age quality may deteriorate. Stop 
Live View shooting when not shooting images.

Shooting Result
 If you take the picture in magnified view, the exposure may not come out 
as desired. Return to th e normal view before taking the picture. In 
magnified view, the shu tter speed and aperture will be displayed in 
orange. Even if you take the picture  in magnified view, the image will be 
captured in the normal view.
  If [z 2: Auto Light ing Optimizer ] (p.123) is not set to [ Disable], the

Shooting Movies
You can shoot movies by setting 
the power switch to . The 
movie recording fo rmat will be 
MOV.
Cards that can record moviesWhen shooting movies, use a larg e-capacity SD card rated SD 
Speed Class 6 “ ” or higher.
If you use a slow-writing card when shooting movies, the movie 
may not be recorded properl y. Also, if you play back a movie on a 
card with a slow reading speed,  the movie may not play back 
properly.

Connecting the camera to a TV set is recommended to play back the 
movies shot (p.258, 261).
When the shooting mode is not set to < a>, autoexposure control will 
take effect to suit the scene’s current brightness.
