31 • A blinking shutter speed indicates that the shutter speed is too slow to prevent a blurred picture caused by camera shake. Hold the camera steady and press the shutter button smoothly, or use a tripod. (The shutter speed indicator still blinks when you use a tripod, but camera shake will not be a problem.) • In the mode, use a tripod to prevent camera shake. 32 FUsing Red-eye Reduction (with the built-in flash) When flash is used in a low-light environment, the subject’s eyes may come out red in the photograph. “Red eye” happens when the light from the flash reflects off the retina of the eyes. The camera’s red-eye reduction feature turns on the red-eye reduction lamp to shine a gentle light into the subject’s eyes to narrow the pupil diameter or iris. 34 Using the Eyepiece Cover Attach the eyepiece cover. •The eyepiece cover is attached to the strap. •Slide the eyepiece cover down into the eyepiece groove to attach it.
