111 External Connections Connecting to a Computer E Users of Windows XP and Mac OS X: Your camcorder is equipped with the standard Picture Transfer Protocol (PTP) allowing you to download still images (JPEG only) by simply connecting the camcorder to a computer via USB cable without installing the software from the DIGITAL VIDEO SOLUTION DISK. Transferring Images 1. Select ( ) a transfer option. 2. Press the button. [ ALL IMAGES] [ NEW IMAGES] [ TRANSFER ORDERS]: • The images are transferred and displayed on the computer. • The camcorder returns to the transfer menu once the transfer is complete. • To cancel the transfer, select ( ) [CANCEL] and press ( ) or press the MENU button. If you select [ SELECT & TRANSFER] or [ WALLPAPER]: 3. Select ( ) the image you wish to transfer. 4. Press the button. • [ SELECT & TRANSFER]: The selected image is transferred and displayed on the computer. To continue transferring, select another image. • [ WALLPAPER]: The selected image is transferred to the computer and displayed as the desktop’s background. • The button will flash while the images are being transferred. • Press the MENU button to return to the transfer menu. ALL IMAGES... Transfers all images to the computer. NEW IMAGES... Transfers only those images that have not yet been transferred to the computer. TRANSFER ORDERS... Transfers images with transfer orders to the computer. Transfer orders ( 113) are only available for images recorded on the memory card. SELECT & TRANSFER... Allows you to select the still image you want to transfer to the computer. WALLPAPER... Allows you to select the still image you want to transfer and set it as your computer’s desktop background. 112 You can press ( ) to transfer the images, instead of the button. With [ ALL IMAGES], [ NEW IMAGES] or [ TRANSFER ORDERS], a confirmation message appears. Select [OK] and press ( ). When the camcorder is connected to the computer and the image selection screen is displayed, press the MENU button to return to the transfer menu. Even when still images recorded on the disc are correctly transferred to the computer, they will still be marked as images not yet transferred (“NEW IMAGES”).
113 External Connections Connecting to a Computer E Transferring Images with Transfer Order Settings You can mark the still images you want to transfer to the computer, out of those recorded on the memory card, as a transfer order. These transfer order settings are compatible with the Digital Print Order Format (DPOF) standards. Up to 998 images can be selected. Selecting Still Images to Transfer (Transfer Order) Do not connect the USB cable to the camcorder while setting the transfer orders. 1. Set the camcorder to view still images recorded on the memory card (/). 2. Press the FUNC. button. 3.Select ( ) the [TRANSFER ORDER] symbol and press ( ). Set it ( ) to [ON] and press ( ). To cancel the transfer order, select [OFF]. 4. Press the FUNC. button to close the menu. Setting Transfer Orders from the Index Screen 1. Set the camcorder to view still images recorded on the memory card (/). 2. Move the zoom lever toward W. The stills index screen appears with up to six still images. 3. Press the MENU button and use the multi selector ( , ) to select the [STILL IMG OPER.] menu and then select the [ TRANSFER ORDER] option. 4. Bring ( , ) the cursor to the image you want to transfer and press ( ). Repeat this step to select other images as desired. • “ ” appears on the image. • To cancel the transfer order, press ( ) again. 5. Press the MENU button and use the multi selector ( , ) to select the [STILL IMG OPER.] menu and then select the [ ORD. ALL ERASE] option. 3. Select ( ) [YES] and press ( ). 4. 115 Printing E PrintingPrinting Still Images Connecting the Camcorder to the Printer 1. Set the camcorder to view still images ( ). 2. Insert the memory card or disc containing the still images you want to print. 3. Turn on the printer. 4. Select as the media for the still images, the media from where you want to print the images. 5. Connect the camcorder to the printer using the supplied USB cable. • appears and changes to . The symbol will not appear if the memory card or disc contains still images that cannot be viewed with this camcorder. • The (print/share) button lights up and the current print setting will be displayed for approx. 6 seconds. If continues to flash (for more than 1 minute) or if does not appear, the camcorder is not correctly connected to the printer. In such case, disconnect the cable from the camcorder and the printer. Turn them both off and then on again and reconnect the camcorder to the printer. While performing the following operations, even if you connect a printer to the camcorder it will not be recognized. Correct performance cannot be guaranteed when printing images from a disc recorded on another digital device and inserted in this camcorder. The camcorder can be connected to any PictBridge compatible printer. You can use the print order settings for direct printing of still images recorded on the memory card ( 120). Canon printers: SELPHY CP, SELPHY DS and PIXMA printers - Deleting all scenes - Protecting the disc - Setting the disc title - Initializing the disc - Finalizing or Unfinalizing the disc - Erasing all still images from the disc or card - Copying still images between the disc and card - Erasing all transfer orders - Erasing all print orders PictBridge compatible printer USB Cable (supplied) Open the terminal cover

Printing with the (Print/Share) Button You can print a still image without changing the settings by simply pressing the (print/share) button. 1. Select ( ) the still image you wish to print. 2. Press the (print/share) button. • Printing starts. The button flashes and stays on when the printing is completed. • To continue printing, select ( ) another still image. Printing after Selecting the Print Settings You can select the number of copies and other settings for printing. The setting options vary depending on your printer model. 1. Press ( ). • The print setting menu appears. • Depending on the printer, the message “BUSY.” may appear before the camcorder displays the print setting menu. 2. Select the print settings ( 118). 3. Select ( , ) the [PRINT] option and press ( ). • Printing starts. The print setting menu disappears when the printing is completed. • To continue printing, select ( ) another still image. Images not recorded with this camcorder, uploaded from a computer, edited on a computer and images whose file names have been changed may not be printed correctly. Observe the following precautions during printing: - Do not turn off the camcorder or the printer. - Do not change the position of the / switch. - Do not disconnect the USB cable. - Do not remove the disc or memory card. If the message “BUSY” does not disappear, disconnect the USB cable from both the camcorder and the printer and then reconnect them again.
117 Printing E Cancel Printing Press ( ) during printing. A confirmation dialog appears. Select [OK] and press ( ). With Canon’s PictBridge compatible printers, the printing will stop immediately (even if not completed) and the paper will be fed through. Printing Errors If an error occurs during the printing process, an error message appears ( 127). - Canon’s PictBridge compatible printers: Resolve the error. When printing does not resume automatically, select [CONTINUE] and press ( ). If [CONTINUE] cannot be selected, select [STOP], press ( ) and retry printing. Refer also to the printer’s instruction manual for details. - If the error still persists and printing does not restart, disconnect the USB cable and turn the camcorder off. Turn it on again, set it to view still images ( ) and reconnect the cable. When you have finished printing: Disconnect the cable from the camcorder and printer and turn off the camcorder.
118 Selecting Print Settings 1. In the print setting menu, select ( , ) the setting you want to change and press ( ). 2. Select ( ) a setting option and press ( ). Print setting options and [DEFAULT] settings vary depending on the printer model. For details, refer to the printer’s instruction manual. [BORDERED]: The image area remains relatively unchanged from the recorded image when it is printed. [BORDERLESS]: The center portion of the recorded image is printed at an enlarged size. The top, bottom and sides of the still image may be slightly trimmed out. The print effect can be used with printers compatible with the Image Optimize function to get higher quality prints. Canon printers: [VIVID], [VIVID+NR] and [NR] can be selected with Canon PIXMA/SELPHY DS printers. When selecting [2-UP], [4-UP], [9-UP] or [16-UP] for [PAGE LAYOUT], set the [PAPER SIZE] to [10 x 14.8 cm] or [9 x 13 cm]. Canon PIXMA/SELPHY DS printers: You can also print on the specially designed Photo Stickers sheets. When selecting [8-UP], set the [PAPER SIZE] to [CREDITCARD]. Canon PIXMA/SELPHY CP printers: You can also print on the specially designed Photo Stickers sheets. PAPER PAPER SIZE Available paper sizes vary depending on the printer model. 119 Printing E Selecting Trimming Settings Set the print style before changing the trimming settings. 1. In the print setting menu, select ( , ) [TRIMMING] and press ( ). The trimming frame appears. 2. Change the size of the trimming frame. • Move the zoom lever toward T to shrink the frame, and toward W to enlarge it. Press ( ) to change the orientation of the frame (portrait/landscape). • To cancel the trimming settings, move the zoom lever toward W until the trimming frame disappears. 3. Move ( , ) the trimming frame. Pressing the MENU button brings you back to the print settings menu. About the color of the trimming frame: - White: No trimming settings. - Green: Recommended trimming size. (The trimming frame may not appear in green depending on the image size, paper size or borders settings.) The trimming setting applies only to one image. The trimming setting is canceled in the following cases: - When you turn off the camcorder. - When you disconnect the USB cable. - When you expand the trimming frame beyond its maximum size. - When you change the [PAPER SIZE] setting.
120 Printing with Print Order Settings You can mark the still images you want to print, out of those recorded on the memory card, and set the desired number of copies as a print order. These print order settings are compatible with the Digital Print Order Format (DPOF) standards and can be used for printing on DPOF compatible printers ( 115). Up to 998 still images can be selected. Selecting Still Images for Printing (Print Order) Do not connect the USB cable to the camcorder while setting the print orders. 1. Set the camcorder to view still images recorded on the memory card (/). 2. Press the FUNC. button. 3. Select ( ) the [ PRINT ORDER] symbol and press ( ). 4. Select ( ) the number of copies and press ( ). To cancel the print order, set the number of copies to 0. 5. Press the FUNC. button to save the setting and close the menu. Setting Print Orders from the Index Screen 1. Set the camcorder to view still images recorded on the memory card (/). 2. Move the zoom lever toward W. The stills index screen appears with up to six still images. 3. Press the MENU button and use the multi selector ( , ) to select the [STILL IMG OPE R.] menu and then select the [ PRINT ORDER] option. 4. Bring ( , ) the cursor to the image you want to print and press ( ). 5. Set ( ) the desired number of copies and press ( ). • and the selected number of copies appear on the image. • To cancel the print order, set the number of copies to 0. 6.
