You can resize an image to make the pixel count lower and save it as a 
new image. Resizing an image is  possible only with JPEG 3/H /5  
images. JPEG  6 and RAW images cannot be resized.
1Select [Resize].
  Under the [ 32] tab, select [Resize ], 
then press < 0>.

Sensor Cleaning
The camera has a Self Cleaning Sensor Unit attached 
to the image sensor’s front  layer (low-pass filter) to 
shake off dust automatically.
The Dust Delete Data can  also be appended to the 
image so that the dust spot s remaining can be erased 
automatically by Digital Photo Professional (provided 
software, p.410).

Whenever you set the power switch to  or , the 
Self Cleaning Sensor Unit operates to automatically shake off the dust 
on the front of the sensor. Normally,  you need not pay attention to this 
operation. However, you can select  to perform sensor cleaning at any 
time, or disable it.
1Select [Sensor cleaning].
 Under the [ 53] tab, select [ Sensor 
cleaning], then press < 0>.
2Select [Clean nowf ].
 Select [Clean now f], then press 
< 0 >.
  Select [OK ] on the dialog screen, 
then press < 0>.

Normally, the Self Cleaning Sensor Unit will eliminate most of the dust 
that may be visible on captured images . However, in case visible dust 
still remains, you can append the Du st Delete Data to the image for 
erasing the dust spots later. The Dust  Delete Data is used by Digital 
Photo Professional (provided softwa re, p.410) to erase the dust spots 
automatically.
 Prepare a solid white object such as a sheet of paper.
  Set the lens focal length to 50 mm or longer.

3 Appending Dust Delete Data
3Photograph a solid-white object.
 At a distance of 20 cm - 30 cm (0.7 ft. 
- 1.0 ft.), fill the viewfinder with a 
patternless, solid-white object and 
take a picture.

The picture will be taken in aperture-
priority AE mode at an aperture of  f/22.
  Since the image will  not be saved, the 
data can be obtained even if there is 
no card in the camera.

Dust that could not be removed by the automatic sensor cleaning can 
be removed manually with a blower,  etc. Before cleaning the sensor, 
detach the lens from the camera.
The surface of the image sensor is extremely delicate. If the 
sensor needs to be cleaned directly, having it done by a Canon 
Service Center is recommended.

3 Manual Sensor Cleaning
 While cleaning the sensor, never do  any of the following. Doing any 
of the following will  cut off the power and close the shutter. The 
shutter curtains and image se nsor may then get damaged.
•  Setting the power switch to < 2>.
•  Removing or inserting the battery.
  The surface of the image  sensor is extremely delicate. Clean the sensor 
with care.
  Use a plain blower without any brus h attached. A brush can scratch the 
sensor.

Printing Images and TransferringImages to a Computer
 Printing (p.302)
You can connect the camera directly to a printer and print 
out the images on the card. The  camera is compatible with 
“ w PictBridge” which is the standard for direct printing.
  Digital Print Order Format (DPOF)  (p.309)
DPOF (Digital Print Order Fo rmat) enables you to print 
images recorded on the card according to your printing 
instructions such as the image  selection, quantity to print, 
etc. You can print multiple images...
