5 - 6 ROUTINE MAINTENANCE Caution Put the toner cartridge in the drum unit immediately after you have removed the protective cover. To prevent degradation to the print quality, do not touch the shaded parts shown in Figure 5-7. Figure 5-7 6Put the new toner cartridge firmly into the drum unit until you hear it lock into place. ROUTINE MAINTENANCE 5 - 7 8Clean the primary corona wire inside the drum unit by gently sliding the blue tab from right to left and left to right several times. Return the tab to the home position (▲) before you put the drum unit back in the printer. If you do not, printed pages may have a vertical stripe. 5 - 8 ROUTINE MAINTENANCE Drum unit This printer can print up to 30,000 pages* with one drum unit. * At 5% print coverage (A4 or Letter size). The actual number of printed pages will vary depending on the average type of print job and paper. CHANGE DRUM SOON message The printer uses a drum unit to create the print images on paper. ROUTINE MAINTENANCE 5 - 13 Replacing Maintenance Parts You will need to replace the maintenance parts regularly to maintain print quality. When it is time to replace these parts, the following messages will appear on the LCD.
