							Monitor your wireless data usage
You can check how much data you have used over your mobile network or your Wi-Fi network. You can also monitor which 
apps and services are using the most data, and you can close some apps to help reduce your data usage or improve the  device performance. 
Depending on your wireless service provider, this feature might not be available.
1.On the home screen, swipe down from the top of the screen.
2.Tap  Settings > App Manager > Device Monitor.3.Tap .
4.Tap Mobile Data or Wi-Fi.
5.Tap an app or service.
Give your device a nickname
You can change the name of your BlackBerry device as it appears to other devices. This nickname is helpful when you 
share media files wirelessly or connect using 
Bluetooth technology.
1.On the home screen, swipe down from the top of the screen.
2.Tap  Settings > About.
3.In the Device Name field, enter the new name for your device.
Wireless connections icons
The following icons might appear in the upper-right corner of the home screen to indicate the wireless coverage level that 
your 
BlackBerry device currently has.
The number of solid bars indicates the strength of the 
mobile network signal. If the signal is weak, your device 
might use more power to try to maintain the connection.          Your device is connected to the network type shown and can 
access all of the features of your mobile network plan.          Your device is connected to the network type shown but the 
network functionality is limited. You
						

							You are connected to the BlackBerry Infrastructure.The number of solid waves indicates the strength of the Wi-
Fi
 signal. If the signal is weak, your device might use more 
power to try to maintain the connection.
Your device is connected to a VPN.Your device is in airplane mode and all of your wireless 
network connections are off. You can turn on 
Wi-Fi or 
Bluetooth technology, but not your connection to the mobile 
network.
There is an error with your SIM card. For information on  what the error is, on the home screen, swipe down from the 
top of the screen. Tap 
 Settings > Networks and 
Connections
 > Mobile Network.
You can only make emergency calls.
The following icons appear in the upper-left corner of the home screen if your device is connected or trying to connect to  another device using Mobile Hotspot mode, Internet tethering, or 
Bluetooth technology.
Mobile Hotspot mode is on. If the icon is solid, Mobile 
Hotspot is connected.Internet tethering is on. If the icon is solid, your device is  connected to another device.Bluetooth technology is on. If the icon is solid, Bluetooth 
technology is connected.

							Wi-Fi
A Wi-Fi network connection is another way to get data services on your device, but unlike using the mobile network, 
using 
Wi-Fi doesn
						

							You can use Mobile Hotspot mode to connect up to eight devices to your BlackBerry device. (The number of devices that you can connect depends on your wireless service provider.) Connecting your devices using Mobile 
Hotspot mode is like connecting to a 
Wi-Fi router; you can use the Wi-Fi connections on your devices, but you don
						

							Change the APN settings for your default Internet connection
Your BlackBerry device uses Access Point Name (APN) settings to open a data connection with your service provider
						

							1.On the home screen, swipe down from the top of the screen.2.Tap  Settings > Networks and Connections > Mobile Network.
3.If the Mobile Network switch is off, turn it on.
4.In the Network Selection Mode drop-down list, tap Manual.
5.When your device finishes scanning for networks, tap a network.
Turn off data services while roaming
Depending on your wireless service plan, you might be able to turn off data services (email messages, PIN messages, text messages with attachments, and browser service) on your BlackBerry device so that only the phone and basic text 
messaging are available.Turning off data services while roaming might prevent you from receiving additional roaming 
charges. For more information, contact your wireless service provider.
1.On the home screen, swipe down from the top of the screen.
2.Tap  Settings > Networks and Connections > Mobile Network.
3.If the Mobile Network switch is off, turn it on.
4.In the Data services while roaming drop-down list, tap Off or Prompt.
Manage your mobile data settings
Depending on your wireless service provider, this feature might not be available.
1.On the home screen, swipe down from the top of the screen.
2.Tap Data Management.
3.Change any of the settings on the screen.
Set a monthly data limit notification
You can be notified when you reach your monthly data limit, or when you reach a certain percentage of your monthly data limit. 
Depending on your wireless service provider, this feature might not be available.
1.On the home screen, swipe down from the top of the screen.
2.Tap  Settings > App Manager > Device Monitor.3.Tap  > Data Usage Settings.
4.In the Mobile Data Limit field, type your monthly data limit in megabytes.
5.Move the Early Data Limit Notification slider to receive an early notification when you are approaching your monthly 
data limit.
6.To change when your monthly data usage cycle starts each month, in the Monthly Reset Date drop-down list, tap a 
date.
