2 POLARIZED PLUG (120V mo\fels o\bly) T\bis appliance \bas a polarized plug (one blade is wider t\ban t\be ot\ber). To reduce t\be risk of electric s\bock, t\bis plug is intended to fit into a polarized outlet only one way. If t\be plug does not fit fully into t\be outlet, reverse t\be plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not attempt to modify t\be plug in any way. TAMPER-RESISTANT SCREW War\bi\bg: T\bis appliance is equipped wit\b a tamper-resistant screw to prevent removal of t\be outer cover. To reduce t\be risk of fire or electric s\bock, do not attempt to remove t\be outer cover. T\bere are no user-serviceable parts inside. Repair s\bould be done only by aut\borized service personnel. ELECTRICAL CORD 1. A s\bort power-supply cord is provided to reduce t\be risk resulting from becoming entangled in or tripping over a longer cord. 2. Extension cords may be used if care is exercised in t\beir use. 3. If a long detac\bable extension cord is used: a) T\be marked electrical rating of t\be power cord or extension cord s\bould be at least as great as t\be electrical rating of t\be appliance. b) If t\be appliance is of t\be grounded type, t\be extension cord s\bould be a grounding-type 3-wire cord. c) T\be cord s\bould be arranged so t\bat it will not drape over t\be countertop or tabletop w\bere it can be pulled on by c\bildren or tripped over. 8 PROGRAMMING YOUR COFFEEMA\fER SETTING THE \bIGITAL CLOC\f 1. Plug your coffeemaker into a standard electrical outlet. 2. T\be digital clock will flas\b “12:00” to indicate t\bat t\be time \bas not yet been set. 3. Press t\be HOUR button until t\be correct \bour appears on t\be display. A “PM” symbol will appear \nin \fhe upper righ\f ha\nn\b corner of \fhe \bigi\fal \bisplay \fo in\bica\fe af\fernoon \fime se\f\fings. \n This symbol will no\f appear for AM se\f\fings. 4. Press t\be MIN (minute) button until t\be correct minute value appears on t\be display. 5. Your clock is now set. SETTING THE AUTO BREW \bELAY START 1. Ensure t\be digital clock \bas been set (see “SETTING THE DIGITAL CLOCK” section for assistance). 2. Press t\be PROG (program) button. T\be display will flas\b “12:00.” 3. Press t\be HOUR and MIN buttons until t\bey indicate t\be time you would like automatic brewing to begin. A “PM” symbol will appear \nin \fhe upper righ\f ha\nn\b corner of \fhe \bigi\fal \bisplay \fo in\bica\fe af\fernoon \fime se\f\fings. \n This symbol will no\f appear for AM se\f\fings. 4. T\be Auto Brew display will flas\b for a few moments before switc\bing back to t\be digital clock. TIP: After programming, press t\be PROG button to c\beck t\be preset Auto Brew time. ACTIVATING THE AUTO BREW \bELAY 1. Ensure t\be Auto Brew delay time \bas been set (see “SETTING THE AUTO BREW DELAY” section for assistance). 2. Press t\be AUTO button once. T\be timer icon ( ) will appear, indicating t\bat Auto Brew \bas been activated. 3. If Auto Brew is activated, be sure to \bave bot\b coffee grounds and water in your coffeemaker. W\ben t\be time of day and programmed Auto Brew time matc\b, your coffeemaker will automatically brew a fres\b pot of coffee. 4. To deactivate Auto Brew, press t\be AUTO button again. T\be timer icon ( ) will disappear. Note: If t\be unit is unplu\Dgged or power is interrupted, t\be digital cloc\Dk and Auto Brew settings will need \Dto be reprogrammed.
9 BEFORE BREWING 1. To register your product, go to www.prodprotect.com/applica 2. Carefully unpack your coffeemaker, removing all packaging materials, labels, stickers and t\be plastic band around t\be power plug. 3. Clean all removable parts of your coffeemaker in warm, soapy water. Rinse and dry t\bese parts prior to placing t\bem back into your coffeemaker. 4. Clean t\be inside of your coffeemaker by running two full brewing cycles wit\b water only, no coffee. a. Make sure your coffeemaker is plugged in. b. Fill t\be entire water reservoir wit\b fres\b, cool water and place carafe onto t\be carafe plate. c. Press t\be Power button. d. Once t\be cycle is finis\bed, disc\Dard water. e. Turn off appliance, unplug and allow to cool down for 15 minutes before repeating. USING THE 1-4 CUP S\GETTING Simply pus\b t\be “1-4\D Cup” button and an icon will appear on t\D\be LCD display indicating t\be setting \bas \Dbeen activated. Your coffeemaker will optimize water temperature and speed, to maintain bold coffee flavor w\ben brewing 1-4 cups of c\Doffee. SETTING THE BREW STRENGTH SELECTOR Customize t\be boldness of your coffee by selecting from t\bree brew strengt\b settings: regular, strong, and bold. To find your ideal flavor setting, simply \Dpress t\be STRONG button. Press once for strong and twice for bold. Press a t\bird time and you’ll be back to regular strengt\b coffee. W\ben using t\be Brew Strengt\b Selector, t\be lower rig\bt \band corner of LCD display will display: a. No bars\D = regular (default setting) b. 1 bar ( ) = \Dstrong c. 2 bars \D( ) = bold
10 BREWING COFFEE 1. Open your coffeemaker’s filter basket lid. 2. Fill t\be water reservoir wit\b fres\b, cool water using t\be easy view water window lines as a guide. Do not fill past t\be \big\best marked line. 3. Place appropriate paper filter into t\be brew basket (see GETTING TO KNOW YOUR COFFEEMAKER section for assistance in filter selection). 4. Add ground coffee (we suggest 1 tablespoon per cup) into t\be paper filter 5. Ensure brew basket is secured in place. 6. Close filter basket lid. 7. Ensure t\be carafe is placed on t\be carafe plate wit\b lid closed or secured tig\btly. Coffee may run over if carafe lid is not correctly in place. 8. For immediate brewing press t\be Power button. To use t\be Auto Brew Delay Start, Brew Strengt\b Selector or 1-4 Cup setting, follow t\be instructions in t\be “PROGRAMMING YOUR COFFEEMAKER” section of t\bis guide. 9. W\bile brewing, t\be Sneak-A-Cup™ feature stops coffee flow out of t\be unit, allowing you to pour a cup of coffee before t\be brew cycle finis\bes. Always return t\be carafe on to t\be carafe plate wit\bin 20 seconds to prevent coffee overflow. 10. W\ben t\be brewing cycle is complete, t\be Fres\b Brew Timer will begin. 11. To turn off t\be coffeemaker at any time, press t\be Power button. 12. W\ben coffee grounds are cool, carefully remove and dispose of t\be used grounds and filter. 13. Clean your coffeemaker according to t\be instruction in t\be “CARE AND CLEANING” section. CARE AN\b CLEANING Follow t\be directions below to clean your coffeemaker after eac\b use. Cleaning 1. Make sure your coffeemaker is unplugged and cool. 2. Open your coffeemaker’s filter basket lid and remove t\be brew basket. 3. T\brow away t\be used paper filter and coffee grounds. 4. Was\b t\be brew basket and carafe by \band in warm, soapy water or on t\be top rack of your dis\bwas\ber. 5. Wipe t\be outside of t\be coffeemaker, power cord and carafe plate wit\b a soft, damp clot\b. 6. To clean t\be inside of t\be filter basket lid, open t\be filter basket lid and wipe wit\b a damp clot\b. Note: Do not use abrasive cleansers or scouring pads, and n\Dever immerse t\be coffeemaker in water.
