To scroll left and rightTo scroll towards the right, swipe your finger to the left.  To scroll towards the left, swipe your finger to the right.
To auto-scroll, flick your finger left or right. Touch the screen to stop scrolling.

1.14  Lock Screen
The Lock screen is displayed whenever your device is locked. You can lock your device to prevent accidental button or LCD display presses when the device is in your bag or pocket. 
When your device is locked, you are still notified of new messages, missed calls, and upcoming appointments. You can also receive a call and adjust the device volume when the device is locked.

Receiving a phone call when the device is locked with a 
passwordYou can receive an incoming call when the phone is locked. When a simple PIN is enabled, the following screen is shown when you accept the call:
     
Tap the on-screen buttons to hold the call, mute the microphone, or turn the speakerphone on. To access more of your device’s functions during the call, tap the Unlock button and enter your PIN.

2.1 Making Calls
To make a call, you can either dial a number or select a contact you want to call.
Note Most SIM cards are preset with a PIN (personal identification number) that is provided by your wireless service provider. When prompted, enter the preset PIN, then tap Enter. If you enter the wrong PIN three times, the SIM card is blocked. If this happens, you can unblock it with the PUK (PIN Unblocking Key) obtained from your wireless service provider.
