Xserve (Early 2009) Take Apart — Power Supply 82 2010-06-28 Removal 1 Unplug the power cord from the power supply. 2 Pull handle to release the power supply. 3 Slide out of the bay. Replacement 1 Pull handle on the new power supply. 2 Slide the power supply all the way into bay. 3 Press handle to seat properly and lock it in place. 4 Connect power cord to power supply. Xserve (Early 2009) Take Apart — Power Supply Blank 84 2010-06-28 Removal 1 Pull the handle to swing open the power supply blank. 2 Notice the hook that catches on the inside bottom of the power supply bay. 3 Open the power supply blank as far as it will go, and pull out the power supply blank. Replacement 1 Align the hook on the power supply blank with the catch inside the power supply bay. 2 Close the power supply blank and press handle over the bay wall to lock it in place

Xserve (Early 2009) Take Apart — Top Cover 86 2010-06-28 Removal 1 Shutdown the Xserve and wait a few moments for components to cool. 2 If the Xserve case is locked, use the Xserve Allen wrench to unlock the security lock on the front panel. 3 Unplug all cables from the Xserve.. 4 Loosen the thumbscrews at the back of the top cover and slide cover back and up to remove it. Replace 1 Replace and secure the cover. 2 Tighten the thumbscrews at the back of the top cover.

It may be helpful to use the black stick under the drive. Replacement 1 Note the orientation of the drive. The connector on the drive should be facing up.
