							iMac (20-inch Late 2006) Take Apart —AC Power Inlet 101
Replacing the AC Line Filter
Install the AC power filter on the rear housing screw mounts with three self tapping screws.

Install the power inlet ground cable to the chassis with a machine screw.

Route the power inlet cable beneath the chassis as shown in the photo below Connect this

Using the EMI tape, securely tape the top and bottom edges of the AC power inlet to the

rear housing.
Replace the power supply (if removed).

Replace the hard drive.
6.  
Replace the logic board.
7.  
Replace the speakers.
8.  
Replace the display panel.
9. 
Replace the IR Board (if removed).
10.  
Connect the antennas.

Replace the lower EMI shield.
12.  
Replace the front bezel.
13 .  
Replace the memory access door.

Removing the Hard Drive Fan 
Once the logic board and speakers have been removed, the fan will already be disconnected.  Lift 
the fan straight up and out of the rear housing.

Replacing the Hard Drive Fan
Lower the fan onto the white posts in the rear housing. Push it down snug onto the posts.

Replace the logic board.
2.  
Replace the speakers.
3. 
Replace the display panel.
4.  
Replace the IR Board.
5. 
Attach the antennas.
6.  
Replace the lower EMI shield.
7.  
Replace the front bezel.
8.  
Replace the memory access door.
9.

Removing the Optical Drive Fan 
Once the logic board and speakers have been removed, the fan will be disconnected.  Lift the fan 
straight up and out of the rear housing.

Replacing the Optical Drive Fan
Lower the fan onto the white posts in the rear housing, above the port openings. Route the

fan cable around the left side of the fan, through the foam gaskets. Push it down snug onto 
the posts.   
Replace the logic board.

Replace the speakers.

Replace the display panel.
4.  
Replace the IR Board.
5. 
Replace the antennas.
6.  
Replace the lower EMI shield.
7.  
Replace the front bezel.
8.  
Replace the memory access door.
