iBook G4 (14-inch) Take Apart - 40 How to Add Spiral Tubing to Protect the Inverter Ca- How to Add Spiral Tubing to Protect the Inverter Cable Important: The inverter cable can be pinched or damaged during reassembly of the bottom case. To protect the inverter cable, add spiral tubing to the cable, as shown in this procedure. Do not pull, twist, or strain the cable as you perform this procedure. Note: Images shown in this procedure may differ somewhat from the iBook model that you are servicing. Tools • Soft cloth • Black stick (or other nonconductive nylon or plastic tool) Preliminary Steps Before you begin, remove the following: • Battery • Bottom case • Bottom shield Procedure 1. With the computer on a soft cloth, peel up the tape that secures the inverter cable to the frame. 2. Disconnect the inverter cable from the bottom of the logic board.

Holding the cable steady, wrap the spiral tubing around the cable at the clutch. 5. Make sure the tubing covers the cable where it exits the display. 6. Route the cable through the channel in the frame, and connect it to the logic board.
