15.8 Cleaning the inlet hose filter and the valve filterIt could be necessary to clean the filters when: • The appliance does not fill with water. • The appliance fills with the water for a long time. • The indicator of button Start/Pause flashes and the display shows the related alarm. Refer to 'Troubleshooting'.To clean the water inlet filters:• Close the water tap. • Remove the water inlet hose from the water tap. • Clean the filter in the inlet hose with a stiff brush.• Remove the inlet hose behind theappliance.• Clean the filter in the valve with a stiff brush or a towel.• Install again the inlet hose. 15.9 Emergency drain Because of a malfunction, the appliance cannot drain the water. If this occurs, do steps (1) through (9) of 'Cleaning the drain filter'. If necessary, clean the pump. When you drain the water with the emergency drain procedure, you must activate again the drain system: 1. When you drain the water with the emergency drain procedure, you must activate again the drain system: Put 2 litres of water in the main wash compartment of the detergent dispenser. 2. Start the programme to drain the water15.10 Frost precautions If the appliance is installed in an area where the temperature can be less than 0° C, remove the remaining water from the inlet hose and the drain pump. 1. Disconnect the mains plug from the mains socket. 2. Close the water tap. 3. Put the two ends of the inlet hose in a container and let the water flow out of the hose. 4. Empty the drain pump. Refer to the emergency drain procedure. 5. When the drain pump is empty, install the inlet hose again.WARNING! Make sure that the temperature is more than 0 °C before you use the appliance again. Deactivate the Child Lock function if it is on.The appliance does not drain the water.Make sure that you have not set a programme without drain phase. Make sure that you have not set an option which ends with water in the tub. The appliance fills with water and drains immediately.Make sure that the drain hose is in the correct position. The hose may be too low.The spin phase does not op- erate or the washing cycle lasts longer than usually.Make sure that the spin phase is not off. Make sure that the drain filter is not clogged. Clean the filter, if necessary. Refer to 'Care and cleaning'. Make sure that the this is not a balance problem. Adjust manually the items in the drum and start the spin phase again.There is water on the floor.Make sure that the couplings of the water hoses are tight and there is not water leakages. Make sure that the drain hose have no damages. Make sure you use the correct detergent and the correct quantity of it.You cannot open the appli- ance door.Make sure that the washing programme is finished. Set the drain or the spin programme if there is water in the drum.Make sure that the appliance receives electrical power.This problem may be caused by a failure of the appli- ance. Contact the Authorised Service Centre. If you need to open the door, please read carefully «Emergency door opening».The appliance makes an un- usual noise.Make sure the levelling of the appliance is correct. Refer to 'Installation'. ProblemPossible solutionThe washing results are not satisfactory.Increase the detergent quantity or use a different deter- gent. Use special products to remove the stubborn stains be- fore you wash the laundry. Make sure that you set the correct temperature. Decrease the laundry load.The washing cycle is shorter than the time displayed.The appliance calculates a new time according to the laundry load.The washing cycle is longer than the time displayed.An unbalanced laundry load increases the duration time. This is a normal behaviour of the appliance.After a steam programme, garments are partially wet .Make sure that the appliance is accurately levelled. Ad- just the appliance by raising or lowering the feet.After a steam programme, garments are not sufficiently smooth.Make sure that you set a correct STEAM programme.The appliance does not dry or does not dry correctly.Make sure the air filters are not clogged. Make sure the drain filter is not clogged. Make sure you have set the correct cycle. If necessary, set a short drying time again.The drying cycle is too long.Make sure the air filters are properly cleaned. Make sure your laundry load does not exceed the de- clared load for the set programme. Make sure that the room temperature is in the correct range.The laundry is full of differ- ent colours fluff.Set a drying cycle to remove some fluff (for more details refer to 'FLUFF IN THE FABRICS' ). Clean the laundry with a fluff remover.There is a big quantity of fluff in the drum.In case of an excessive amount of fluff in the drum, run the special programme to clean it (refer to “FLUFF IN THE FABRICS” for more details).After the check, activate the appliance. The programme continues from the point of interruption. If the problem occurs again, contact the Authorised Service Centre. If the display shows other alarm codes. 16.3 Emergency door opening In case of power failure or appliance failure the appliance door remains locked. The washing programme continues, when the power is restored. If the door remains locked in case of failure, it is possible to open it using the emergency unlock feature. Before opening the door:CAUTION! Make sure that the water temperature and the laundry are not hot. Wait till they cool down, if necessary.CAUTION! Make sure that the drum is not rotating. Wait till the drum stops rotating, if necessary.Make sure that the water level inside the drum is not too high. Proceed with an emergency drain, if necessary (refer to «Emergency drain» in «Care and cleaning» chapter).To open the door, proceed as follows: 1. Press the button On/Off to switch the appliance off. 2. Disconnect the mains plug from the mains socket. 3. Open the filter flap. 4. Keep the emergency unlock trigger pulled downward and, at the same time, open the appliance door. 5. Take out the laundry and then close the appliance door. 6. Close the filter flap. 17. INSTALLATIONWARNING! Refer to Safety chapters.17.1 UnpackingWARNING! As you will put down the appliance on the rear side, wait about 6 hours before you use it . Use the gloves. • Remove the external film. If necessary, use a cutter• Remove the cardboard top. • Remove the polystyrene packaging materials.• Remove the internal film.• Open the door. • Remove the polystyrene piece from the door seal and all the items from the drum.• Put one of the polystyrene packaging elements on the floor behind the appliance. • Carefully put down the appliance with the rear side on it. • Make sure not to damage the hoses.www.aeg.com38
• Remove the polystyrene protectionfrom the bottom.• Pull up the appliance in verticalposition.• Remove the power supply cable and the drain hose from the hose holders.It is possible to see water flowing from the drain hose. This is due to the testing with water of the appliances in factory.• Remove the three bolts. • Use the key supplied with the appliance. • Pull out the plastic spacers.ENGLISH3912
• Put the plastic caps in the holes. • You can find these caps in the user manual bag.We recommend that you keep the packaging and the transit bolts for anymovement of the appliance.17.2 Fixing plate kit (4055171146) Available from your authorized dealer. If you install the appliance on a plinth, secure the appliance in the fixing plates. Read carefully the instructions suppliedwith the accessory.17.3 Installation on suspended flooring Suspended wooden floors are particularly susceptible to vibration. To help prevent vibration we recommend you place a waterproof wood panel, at least 15 mm thick under the appliance, secured to at least 2 floor beams with screws, the wood panel must extend beyond the front feet. If possible install the appliance in one of the corners of the room, where the floor is more stable.17.4 Installation under a counterThe appliance can be installed as freestanding or below the kitchen counter with correct space (see picture).CAUTION!
