Addonics Technologies – Jupiter Cipher ExDrive User’s Guide v1.0 10 Step 6 Put the top cover on by holding it in n ear vertical position and sliding the two metal clips inside th e two small slots on the rear of the bottom cove r. Step 7 Lower the front of the top cover and makin g sure the two cov ers lined up properly. Tighten the small retaining screw on the front of the bottom cover to close the enclosure.
Addonics Technologies – Jupiter Cipher ExDrive User’s Guide v1.0 11 Chapter 6 Attaching USIB interface cable Be sure the Jupiter Cipher ExDr ive key is inserted in to the drive enclosure prior to turning on the power or attaching th e USIB interface cable to the co mputer. Hard drive will not be detected if the interface cable is attached to the computer without the Cipher key inserted first. Under such condition, th e power to the drive enclosure will have to b e turned off and turned back on with the Ciph er key already inserted into the drive enclosure in order for the hard drive to be detected by the system. The Jupiter Cipher ExDrive drive enclosure can be used as an internal removable hard drive or as a drive cartridge by installing the optional drive cradle in to the dri ve bay of a Desktop, Server or any co mputing equipment. Insert the USB2.0 USIB cable to the USB Port. 3. A New Hardware Found message shall pop up, click Next. 4. “What do you want Windows to do?” message opens. Select “Search for the best dri ver for your device,” click Next. 5. “Specify Location” message opens. Poin t to the location of C:\My Documents\mass_storage_601where yo u unzip the files for the driver. Click Next. 6. “Driver file search for th e device %VID_ODBF&PID_0303%” then Building a driver database message ope ns. Let Windows finish the installation and click Finish. Disk Management for Windows 98 1. Select Start > Setting > Con trol Panel > System. The System Properties window opens. 2. Select the Device Manager ta b, under Device type, Disk Drives, select yo ur new hard drive. Click the Properties button. 3. Select the Settings tab and under the Options box, click the Removable check box. The Reserved drive letters box becomes active. Select the drive letter for your new drive. Click Ok. 4. Click Yes to restart your system to make changes take effect. 5. Double c lick My Co mputer icon an d there should be an extr a drive letter for the Jupiter Cipher ExDrive drive. You may now access the drive.

There is no thir d party driver needed. Driver Installation for Win98 and Win 98SE After plugging in the cable so me system might prompt you f or Win98SE CD, in case you don’t have the Win98SE CD and t he wizard prompts you for: NTMAP.SYS please type C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS NTMAPHLP.PDR please type C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\IOSUBSYS Reboot your system. Log on as administrator or as a member of the Administrators group. 2. Click Start, click Run, type compmgmt.msc, and then click OK. In the console tree, click Disk Management. The Disk Management window appears. Your disks and volumes appear in a gr aphical view and list view. 3. To customize how you view your disks an d volumes in th e upper and lower panes of the window, point to Top or Bottom on the View menu, and then click the view that you want to use How to create a new partition or a new logical drive To create a new partition or logical dri ve on a basic disk: 1. In the Disk Management window, complete o ne of the following procedures, and then contin ue to step 2: · To create a new partition, right-click unallocated space o n the basic disk where y ou want to create the partition, an d then click New Partition. · To create a new logical drive in an extended partition, r ight-click free space on an extended partition where you want to create the logical drive, and then click New Logical Drive. 2. In the New Partition Wizard, click Next. 3. Click the type of partition th at you w ant to create (either Primary partition, Extended partition, or Logical drive), and then click Next. 4. Specify the size of the partition i n the Partition size in MB box, and then click Next. 5. Decide w hether to manuall y assign a drive letter, let the system automatically enumerate the drive, or do not assign a drive letter to the new partition or logical drive, and then click Next. 6. Specify the fo rmatting options you want to use by using one of the following procedures: · If you do not want to format the par tition, click Do not format this partition, and then click Next. · If you want to format the par tition, click Format this partition with the following settings, and t hen complete the follow ing procedure in the Format dialog box: a. Type a name for the volume in the Volume label box. This is an optional step. Click th e file system that you want to use in the File system box. b. You can change the disk allocation unit siz e, and then specify whether to perform a quick format, or enable file and folder compression on NTFS volumes. Click Next.

The new partition or logical drive is created and appears in the appropriate basic disk in the Disk Managemen t window. If you chose to format the volume in step 6, th e format process now starts. How to format a basic volume To format a pa rtition, logical drive or basic volume: 1. In the Disk Management window, right-click the partition or logical drive that you want to fo rmat (or reformat), and then click Format. 2. In the Format dialog box, type a name for the volume in the Volume label box. This is an optional step. 3. Click the file system that you w ant to use in the File system box. If you want, you can also change the disk a llocation unit size, specify w hether you want to perform a quick format, or ena ble file and folder compression on NTFS volumes. 4. Click OK. 5. Click OK when you are prompted to fo rmat the volume. The format process starts.
