PrintingScout Alerts
PrintingScout is a tool that is  installed with your Xerox printer  driver. It automatically checks 
the printer status when you send a print job.  If the printer is unable to print your job, 
PrintingScout automatically displays  an alert on your computer screen to let you know that the 
printer needs attention. Click the alert to view  instructions explaining how to fix the problem.

requirements. Attention to the  following information ensures the continued safe operation of

Electrical Safety
■Use the power cord supplied with your printer.
■Plug the power cord directly into a properl y grounded electrical outlet. Make sure each 
end of the cord is securely connected. If you do not know if an outlet is grounded, ask an

If you notice unusual noises or odors:
1.
Turn off the printer immediately.
2. Disconnect the power cord fro m the electrical outlet. 
3. Call an authorized service repres entative to correct the problem.
The power cord is attached to the printer as a pl ug-in device at the back of the printer. If it is 
necessary to disconnect all electrical power fro m the printer, disconnect the power cord from 
the electrical outlet.

■Place the printer in a dust-free area within a te mperature range of 50° F to 90° F (10° C to

Printing Safety Guidelines
■Keep hands, hair, neckties, etc., aw ay from the exit and feed rollers.
■Do not remove the paper source tray that you se lect in either the printer driver or control 
panel.
■Do not open the doors when  the printer is printing.
■Do not move the printer when it is printing.
Printer Supplies
■Use the supplies specifically de signed for your printer. The use of unsuitable materials 
may cause poor performance and a possible safety hazard.

Moving the Printer
Follow these guidelines to avoid injuri ng yourself or damaging the printer:
■Keep the printer level. Tilting the printer can cause the ink to spill inside.
■Use the Shut Down mode on the control panel for best results.
■Always allow the printer to cool before it is  moved to avoid ink spills that can damage the 
printer.
Warning:  Parts of the printer may be hot. To av id personal injury or damage to the 
printer, allow  30 minutes for it to cool down...

■Never move the printer if you receive a Power Down Error-Head not Parked message on 
the control panel. The printer is  not ready to be moved. If the printhead is not locked, the 
printer can be damaged during shipment.
■Verify that the printhead is lock ed. When the flag in the exit tray is in the raised position, 
the printhead is locked.
■Always move the printer separate ly from the lower tray assembly.
■Always use two people to lift the printer.
■Do not place any food...
