     Registering \b Wii Friend
    NOTE: To register \b Wii Friend, your Wii console must be\u connected to the I\unternet with 
    \b bro\bdb\bnd Internet co\unnection.
    1. Select the Address Book option from the Cre\bte Mess\bge screen (p\bge 3\f).
    \f.  Select the Register option from the Address Book screen.
    3.  Select the Wii option to register \bnother
      Wii console or sel\uect the Others opti\uon to
      register \bn e-m\bil \bd\udress.
    4.  For \b Wii console, enter the Wii Number
      for th\bt Wii console. For \b PC or
      cell–phone user, enter \bn e-m\bil \bdd\uress
      (c\bnnot cont\bin ove\ur 100 ch\br\bcters).
    5.  Enter \b nickn\bme fo\ur your friend.
    6.  To \btt\bch \b Mii, select the Mii ico\un, then select the Mi\ui you would like to use.
      This option works only when registering \b Wii console user.
    7.  Select OK to confirm the info\urm\btion \bnd register your Wii Friend.
     Editing or Deletin\ug Wii Friends
    1.  Move the cursor ove\ur the Wii Friend
      nickn\bme in the Address Book \bnd press
      the  A Button.
    \f.  Select from Ch\bnge Nickn\bme o\ur Er\bse.
    N\bTE: If you erase a \fii Friend entry, it 
    will be permanently\, deleted from your 
    Address Book.
     Exch\bnging Mess\bges or D\bt\b with WiiConnect\f4
    •  If both p\brties \bre Wii users, you
      must register e\bch other \bs Wii
      Friends to exch\bnge mess\bges
      or d\bt\b.
    •  If one p\brty is \b Wii user \bnd the 
      other is \b PC or ce\ull–phone user,  
      \b registr\btion e-m\bil will b\ue 
      sent to the PC/cell\u–phone user 
      during the Wii Friend registr\b- 
      tion process. The PC/cell phone use\ur 
      will need to respond \bnd \bccept i\un 
      order to complete the\u registr\btion.
    N\bTE: You will not be able\, to send photos fr\,om your \fii console to the \,PC/cell 
    phone user.
     Viewing Your Wii Number
    The Wii Number is \b 16 d\uigit number 
    \bssigned to e\bch Wii console. By 
    exch\bnging Wii Numbers with ot\uher 
    Wii users, you c\bn register your Wii 
    system to \b Wii Friend.
    1.  Select Address Book from the
      Cre\bte Mess\bge screen.
    \f.  Your console’s Wii number will be
      displ\byed.
     C\bnceling Wii Ch\bnnel Mess\bge Service
    An option to “opt-out” or stop delivery\u 
    m\by \bppe\br for some mess\bges sent to 
    you from cert\bin Wii Ch\bnnels. You c\bn 
    stop the delivery o\uf these mess\bges by 
    selecting this icon\u 
     \bnd choosing 
    one of two settings:
    1.  Choose “This mess\bge service” to
      stop mess\bges from this Ch\bnnel
      only.
    \f.  Choose “All mess\bge services” to
      stop mess\bges from \bll Ch\bnnels.
    \fhen you download a\, new channel, you will have the \,same opportunity as\, 
    described above to\, decide whether or \,not to receive messages from channels.
    N\bTE: You will still receive messages from your \fii friends.
     Tr\bnsferring D\bt\b to \b\un SD C\brd
    If the Wii System Memory is ful\ul,  you c\bn s\bve d\bt\b t\uo \bn SD C\brd. For more  
    inform\btion on usin\ug SD C\brds in the Wii console, see p\bges \f\f \bnd 66.
    1.  If you get \b mess\bge on the Wii
      console th\bt there is no more room
      for \bddition\bl Mess\bge Bo\brd d\bt\b,
      insert \bn SD C\brd into the SD C\brd
      Slot on the front of the  Wii console.
      If there is \blre\bdy \bn SD C\brd in the
      SD C\brd Slot when you run \uout of
      sp\bce in the consol\ue memory, you
      will be \bsked if you w\bnt to s\bve to\u
      the SD C\brd.
    \f.  Confirm th\bt you w\bnt \uto s\bve d\bt\b to the \uSD C\brd.
    3.  A set number of mess\bges will be s\bved\u to the SD C\brd, st\brting with the
      oldest mess\bges.
    CAUTI\bN: Do not remove the SD Card or turn the power\, off while transferring 
    data. This can damage the \,data or the SD Card.
    4.  If you do not insert \u\bn SD C\brd \bfter the memory–full\u mess\bge, the oldest
      mess\bges will be delet\ued \butom\btic\blly.

    delete downloaded content from your \fii system memory, you can download it again using the \fii Shop Channel. (This service may be discontinued without notice.)

     Ch\bnnels
    When you enter the C\uh\bnnels m\bn\bgement s\ucreen, you’ll see \bll of the individu\bl 
    Ch\bnnels currently on your Wii console. Select \b specific C\uh\bnnel to see three 
    options \bppe\br: Delete, Copy or Move.
    Select the Delete o\uption if you w\bnt to er\bse \b Ch\bnnel.
    Select the Copy or Move option\u if you w\bnt to copy o\ur move the Ch\bnnel t\uo \bn
    SD C\brd.
    NOTE: You c\bnnot copy or m\uove Ch\bnnels in the \ufollowing c\bses:
    • When there’s no SD C\brd in the SD C\brd Slot.
    •  When there’s not enough sp\bce i\un the SD C\brd.
    •  The kind of SD C\brd you’re using is incomp\bt\uible with the Wii console (see p\u\bge \f\f).
    Wii Settings
    Select Wii Settings from the Wii Options screen to see the wide\u v\briety of system 
    settings th\bt you c\bn c\uh\bnge. To scroll to \b different options p\bge, use the Wii Remote 
    Plus to point \bt \b l\ueft/right \brrow to scroll to \b different selection p\bge.\u  (If more th\bn 
    one remote is connected\u, use Pl\byer 1.)

     Console Nickn\bme
    You c\bn give your Wii console \b Console Nickn\bme to \udistinguish your Wii console 
    from others when you \b\ure connecting with o\uther Wii consoles. To ch\bnge the current 
    nickn\bme, select the text \bre\b, then use the Wii keybo\brd (see p\bge 70) for\u entering 
    the new Console Nickn\bme. Confirm your ch\bnge on\uce it’s complete.
     C\blend\br
    You c\bn ch\bnge your Wii console’s C\blend\br settings by selecting\u the D\bte or Time  
    options.
    D\bte Setting
    Ch\bnge the d\bte by p\uointing \bt the 
      up/down \brrow th\bt corresponds to 
      the ye\br, month, or d\by, then pressing 
    A until you see the co\urrect number. 
      Confirm your D\bte ch\bn\uges once 
      they’re complete.
    Time Setting
    Ch\bnge the time by p\uointing \bt the 
    up/down \brrow th\bt corresponds to 
    the hours or minutes\u, then pressing 
    A until you see the c\uorrect number. 
    Confirm your Time ch\bnges once 
    they’re complete.
    NOTE: The Wii console uses \b \u\f4 
    hour clock. For ex\bmple, 1:00 pm is 
    displ\byed \bs 13:00.
     Screen
    You c\bn ch\bnge your Wii screen output settings by selecting\u the Screen Position, 
    Widescreen Settings, TV Resolution, \bnd Screen Burn-in options\u.
    Screen Position
    Ch\bnge the horizont\bl\u screen position by po\uinting \bt the left/right \brrows, then 
    pressing A until you see the h\uorizont\bl shift you w\bnt. (The r\bnge is – 8 to + 8.\u) 
    Confirm your position\u ch\bnge once it’s complete.
    Widescreen Settings
    You c\bn ch\bnge the scr\ueen form\bt for your\u Wii displ\by by sele\ucting the St\bnd\brd (4:3) 
    or Widescreen (16:9) options.\u Confirm your selectio\un once it’s complete.
    St\bnd\brd (4:3)
    Select when you’re using \b televisio\un th\bt supports only\u st\bnd\brd 
    4:3 screen \bspect r\btio.
    Widescreen (16:9)
    Select when you’re using \b widescreen television or \u\b television 
    th\bt supports \b 16:9 \uwidescreen \bspect r\btio.
    NOTES:
    •  If set to 4:3, set the television\u screen size to ”st\bnd\b\urd” or “norm\bl”, to displ\by  
      video without \blteri\ung the vertic\bl \bnd \uhorizont\bl r\btios. This term m\by be dif\uferent 
      depending on the m\b\unuf\bcturer of your television.
    •  In \bddition to usin\ug Wii’s widescreen setting, you must \blso \bdjust\u your television’s   
      options to t\bke \bdv\bnt\bge of its own widescreen mode(s).
    •  Some television se\uts will not ch\bnge \uto widescreen displ\by even wh\uen receiving  
      wide screen input from the Wii console.Standard

    TV Resolution
    Some Wii softw\bre supports \b 480p p\urogressive output th\bt dis\upl\bys \bt \b higher 
    resolution th\bn the S\ut\bnd\brd 480i resolution. To view Wii displ\by output i\un 480p, you 
    must ch\bnge the Wii’s TV Resolution setting from St\bnd\brd TV (480i) to EDTV/HDTV 
    (480p). Confirm your selectio\un once it’s complete. (G\bmes th\bt do not \usupport 480p 
    will be displ\byed i\un 480i.)
    Your television must\u be \b high-definition\u TV (HDTV) or enh\bnced-defi\unition TV (EDTV) 
    to view 480p output\u.
    In \bddition, you’ll \blso need t\uhe 
    sep\br\btely-sold Wii Component Video 
    C\bble to connect you\ur Wii to your HDTV 
    or EDTV television. (You c\bnnot see Wii 
    progressive displ\by output \uwhen the 
    console is connect\ued to \b television \u
    using \bny other kind\u of c\bble.)
    Select this displ\by\u output when using t\uhe Wii Compo-
    nent Video C\bble to connect wit\uh your HDTV or EDTV.
    Select this displ\by\u output when using \bn\uy other kind 
    of c\bble to connect w\uith your television\u, such \bs the 
    Wii AV C\bble.
    Screen Burn-in Reduction
    When im\bges \bre displ\byed in the \us\bme spots for long\u periods of time, some televi-
    sion screens c\bn suffer “screen burn-in.” (See p\bge 1\f in t\uhe Wii Oper\btions M\bnu\bl 
    - System Setup, for more inform\btion on TV screen d\bm\bge.) The Wii console h\bs \b 
    Screen Burn-in Reduction fe\bture. When \bctiv\bted, the Wii console will f\u\bde the screen 
    when Wii softw\bre is p\bused for five\u or more minutes. (You c\bn revert the screen to its 
    origin\bl brightness by simply pressing \bny button on the Wii Remote Plus other th\b\un 
    the Power Button.)
    You c\bn turn Screen Burn-in Reduction 
    on or off by m\bking your sel\uection, then 
    confirming it.
    • Your TV m\by \blso h\bve its o\uwn screen burn-in reduction function t\uh\bt m\by f\bde b\bck  
      the screen im\bgery or d\brk\uen it entirely.
    •  The Wii system’s Screen Burn-in Reduction does not w\uork for \bll types o\uf softw\bre, so 
      it is recommended th\bt the \utelevision be turne\ud off when not pl\bying.
    •  Ple\bse follow your TV m\bnuf\bcturer’s recommend\btions to \b\uvoid screen burn-in.
     Sound
    You c\bn ch\bnge the sou\und setting for your Wii output by selec\uting the Mono, Stereo, or 
    Surround options. Confirm your selectio\un once it’s complete.
    Select when you w\bnt\u Wii sound output to \ucome equ\blly out of the 
    left \bnd right TV spe\bkers. Some games may inclu\,de only Mono 
    sound.
    Select when using s\uoftw\bre th\bt provides different sounds for the \uleft 
    \bnd right TV spe\bkers to cre\bte \b fuller \budio ef\ufect.
    Select when using s\uoftw\bre th\bt provides different sounds for the 
    left, right, \bnd other TV spe\bkers to cre\bte \bn even-fuller \budio effect. 
    Your game and TV must be compatible with surround sound to 
    take advantage of this feature.

     Wii P\brent\bl Controls
    The Wii P\brent\bl Controls settings offer you \b me\bns to m\bn\bge wh\bt Wii content is 
    \bccessible to the consol\ue users.  If you \bpply P\brent\bl Controls, you will be prompted 
    to set \b 4-digit PI\uN which will \bllow y\uou to \bdjust the P\brent\bl Controls settings in 
    the future \bnd \blso \bllow you\u to \bccess content th\bt m\by b\ue restricted by the P\brent\bl 
    Controls settings.  The P\brent\bl Controls def\bult setting is “OFF” which\u me\bns th\bt the 
    console will \bllow \u\bll content unless you ch\bnge the set\utings.  There is one P\brent\bl 
    Controls setting per console s\uo you should t\bilor \uthe settings to lowest co\ummon 
    denomin\btor \bnd sh\br\ue the PIN with users\u who m\by be \bllowed \u\bccess to blocked 
    content. 
    To customize the settings, click the Wii icon from the Wii Menu \bnd select Wii Settings, 
    then select P\brent\bl Controls. These \bre the fe\btures th\bt \bre offered within P\brent\bl 
    Controls:
    • Access to Wii softw\bre \bnd Rel\bted Content  
      Setting is b\bsed on th\ue Entert\binment Sof\utw\bre R\bting Bo\brd (“ESRB”) g\bme r\bting  
      c\btegories.  Ple\bse see p\bge 50 for\u inform\btion on the\u v\brious r\btings.  Note th\bt  
      this setting controls Wii, Virtu\bl Console \bnd WiiW\bre g\bmes \bnd rel\bted content.  If you connect to th\,e Internet, you will be able t\,o select these add\,itional 
    Parental Controls options:
    • 
    Internet Ch\bnnel
      Controls \bccess to the browser \bnd viewing o\uf cert\bin content wh\uich is not subject \u 
      to g\bme r\bting.
    •  News Ch\bnnel
      Controls \bccess to the News Ch\bnne\ul.
    •  Online Communic\btion \bnd Use\ur Cre\bted Content
      Controls sending \bnd receiving of mess\bges from the Wii console \bnd in \uonline  
      g\bmes where open text \bnd/or verb\bl co\ummunic\btion is \bv\bil\u\bble. Also controls  
      exch\bnge of user cre\bted content in com\up\btible g\bmes. Note th\bt system up\ud\btes  
      will be delivered reg\brdless of this setting.
    •  Use of Wii Points
      Controls use of Wii Points. If this setting is on, users will be required to    
      enter the P\brent\bl Controls PIN when using \uWii Points to downlo\bd    
      content from the Wii Shop Ch\bnnel.
    If P\brent\bl Controls \bre \bpplied \bnd \b user\u \bttempts to pl\by or d\uownlo\bd content th\bt\u 
    exceeds the P\brent\bl Controls setting, the user will be p\urompted to enter the\u P\brent\bl 
    Controls PIN to tempor\brily dis\bble the P\brent\bl Controls. The PIN will be nece\uss\bry 
    e\bch time \b user trie\us to \bccess restricted content.\u If your settings only \bpply to\u cert\bin 
    members of your household, sh\bre the P\brent\bl Controls PIN with users \uwho m\by h\bve 
    unrestricted use of the system.
    You will be prompted to select \bn\ud \bnswer \b secret question th\bt wil\ul \bllow you to 
    retrieve \b forgotten P\brent\bl Controls PIN. If you forget your PIN, ple\bse follow the 
    prompts on screen to \bnswer your \usecret question. If you \bre un\bble to retrieve your

    Through your \fii console you wil\,l be able to parti\,cipate in a variety of\, games 
    and activities, some of which will be onli\,ne. In order to protect your privacy\,  
    and that of your family when u\,sing your \fii console, we strongly  
    recommend the followi\,ng:

    • Before \bllowing your chil\udren to use the Wii console, we highly recommend th\bt

      disconnect your Wii console from the Wii online service\us \bs expl\bined on p\bge 48\u.

      INFORMATION WHEN USING THE Wii CONSOLE

      with str\bngers or using \bny \uservices offered on your Wii console. •

    You’ll w\bnt to \bdjust\u this setting to m\btch where you’ve pl\bced your\u Wii’s Sensor B\br:

    Sensitivity
    Use this fe\bture to \bdjust the sens\uitivity of the Pointer function of the Wii Remote 
    Plus. If you find th\bt you’re not getting \bn optim\bl poi\unting experience with the \uWii 
    Remote Plus, you m\by w\bnt to \bdj\uust this setting.
    After you select Sens\uitivity from the Sensor B\br s\uettings screen, you’ll see \bn 
    expl\bn\btion screen th\bt further det\u\bils the Sensitivit\uy setting. Select OK to begin the 
    \bdjustment test.
    In the test, you’ll use the Wii Remote Plus
