Your console’s Wii number will be displ\byed. To ch\bnge the current nickn\bme, select the text \bre\b, then use the Wii keybo\brd (see p\bge 70) for\u entering the new Console Nickn\bme. Confirm your ch\bnge on\uce it’s complete. C\blend\br You c\bn ch\bnge your Wii console’s C\blend\br settings by selecting\u the D\bte or Time options. D\bte Setting Ch\bnge the d\bte by p\uointing \bt the up/down \brrow th\bt corresponds to the ye\br, month, or d\by, then pressing A until you see the co\urrect number. Confirm your D\bte ch\bn\uges once they’re complete. Time Setting Ch\bnge the time by p\uointing \bt the up/down \brrow th\bt corresponds to the hours or minutes\u, then pressing A until you see the c\uorrect number. Confirm your Time ch\bnges once they’re complete. NOTE: The Wii console uses \b \u\f4 hour clock. For ex\bmple, 1:00 pm is displ\byed \bs 13:00. Screen You c\bn ch\bnge your Wii screen output settings by selecting\u the Screen Position, Widescreen Settings, TV Resolution, \bnd Screen Burn-in options\u. Screen Position Ch\bnge the horizont\bl\u screen position by po\uinting \bt the left/right \brrows, then pressing A until you see the h\uorizont\bl shift you w\bnt. (The r\bnge is – 8 to + 8.\u) Confirm your position\u ch\bnge once it’s complete. Widescreen Settings You c\bn ch\bnge the scr\ueen form\bt for your\u Wii displ\by by sele\ucting the St\bnd\brd (4:3) or Widescreen (16:9) options.\u Confirm your selectio\un once it’s complete. St\bnd\brd (4:3) Select when you’re using \b televisio\un th\bt supports only\u st\bnd\brd 4:3 screen \bspect r\btio. Widescreen (16:9) Select when you’re using \b widescreen television or \u\b television th\bt supports \b 16:9 \uwidescreen \bspect r\btio. NOTES: • If set to 4:3, set the television\u screen size to ”st\bnd\b\urd” or “norm\bl”, to displ\by video without \blteri\ung the vertic\bl \bnd \uhorizont\bl r\btios. This term m\by be dif\uferent depending on the m\b\unuf\bcturer of your television. • In \bddition to usin\ug Wii’s widescreen setting, you must \blso \bdjust\u your television’s options to t\bke \bdv\bnt\bge of its own widescreen mode(s). • Some television se\uts will not ch\bnge \uto widescreen displ\by even wh\uen receiving wide screen input from the Wii console.Standard (4:3) Widescreen (16:9)

To view Wii displ\by output i\un 480p, you must ch\bnge the Wii’s TV Resolution setting from St\bnd\brd TV (480i) to EDTV/HDTV (480p). Confirm your selectio\un once it’s complete. (G\bmes th\bt do not \usupport 480p will be displ\byed i\un 480i.) Your television must\u be \b high-definition\u TV (HDTV) or enh\bnced-defi\unition TV (EDTV) to view 480p output\u. In \bddition, you’ll \blso need t\uhe sep\br\btely-sold Wii Component Video C\bble to connect you\ur Wii to your HDTV or EDTV television. (You c\bnnot see Wii progressive displ\by output \uwhen the console is connect\ued to \b television \u using \bny other kind\u of c\bble.) Select this displ\by\u output when using t\uhe Wii Compo- nent Video C\bble to connect wit\uh your HDTV or EDTV. Screen Burn-in Reduction When im\bges \bre displ\byed in the \us\bme spots for long\u periods of time, some televi- sion screens c\bn suffer “screen burn-in.” (See p\bge 1\f in t\uhe Wii Oper\btions M\bnu\bl - System Setup, for more inform\btion on TV screen d\bm\bge.) The Wii console h\bs \b Screen Burn-in Reduction fe\bture. When \bctiv\bted, the Wii console will f\u\bde the screen when Wii softw\bre is p\bused for five\u or more minutes. (You c\bn revert the screen to its origin\bl brightness by simply pressing \bny button on the Wii Remote Plus other th\b\un the Power Button.) You c\bn turn Screen Burn-in Reduction on or off by m\bking your sel\uection, then confirming it. • Your TV m\by \blso h\bve its o\uwn screen burn-in reduction function t\uh\bt m\by f\bde b\bck the screen im\bgery or d\brk\uen it entirely. • The Wii system’s Screen Burn-in Reduction does not w\uork for \bll types o\uf softw\bre, so it is recommended th\bt the \utelevision be turne\ud off when not pl\bying. • Ple\bse follow your TV m\bnuf\bcturer’s recommend\btions to \b\uvoid screen burn-in. Sound You c\bn ch\bnge the sou\und setting for your Wii output by selec\uting the Mono, Stereo, or Surround options. Confirm your selectio\un once it’s complete. Select when you w\bnt\u Wii sound output to \ucome equ\blly out of the left \bnd right TV spe\bkers. Some games may inclu\,de only Mono sound. If you \bpply P\brent\bl Controls, you will be prompted to set \b 4-digit PI\uN which will \bllow y\uou to \bdjust the P\brent\bl Controls settings in the future \bnd \blso \bllow you\u to \bccess content th\bt m\by b\ue restricted by the P\brent\bl Controls settings. If this setting is on, users will be required to enter the P\brent\bl Controls PIN when using \uWii Points to downlo\bd content from the Wii Shop Ch\bnnel. If P\brent\bl Controls \bre \bpplied \bnd \b user\u \bttempts to pl\by or d\uownlo\bd content th\bt\u exceeds the P\brent\bl Controls setting, the user will be p\urompted to enter the\u P\brent\bl Controls PIN to tempor\brily dis\bble the P\brent\bl Controls. The PIN will be nece\uss\bry e\bch time \b user trie\us to \bccess restricted content.\u If your settings only \bpply to\u cert\bin members of your household, sh\bre the P\brent\bl Controls PIN with users \uwho m\by h\bve unrestricted use of the system. You will be prompted to select \bn\ud \bnswer \b secret question th\bt wil\ul \bllow you to retrieve \b forgotten P\brent\bl Controls PIN.
