Using the Wii Menu
When the Wii console power \uis turned on, the first screen you will see is\u the
Wii Menu. From this screen, you c\bn do sever\bl \bctivities:
• Pl\by \b G\bme Disc
•  Use one of the built-in softw\bre progr\bms (Ch\bnnels)
  included with the Wii console
•  Ch\bnge Wii console settings
•  Access the SD C\brd Menu screen
  (To use this menu item\u, \bn SD C\brd [sold sep\br\btely] must be inse\urted into the
  SD C\brd slot. The icon will \bppe\br gr\by if there is no SD C\brd inserted.)

Inter\bct with the Wii Mess\bge Bo\brd
  To select \bny of these \bctivities, simply point \bt on\ue with the Wii Remote™ Plus
  \bnd press the A Button.

Pl\by \b Wii G\bme Disc, st\brt one of the built-in softw\bre progr\bms included with 
the Wii console, or st\brt other sof\utw\bre progr\bms downlo\bded to y\uour console

  N\bTE: Form\btting your Wii System Memory (see \up\bge 63) will perm\bne\untly
  delete Shortcut Ch\bn\unels from your system. However, these Ch\bnnels c\bn \ube
  downlo\bded \bg\bin free from the Wii Shop Ch\bnnel.
Get Connected Video
Select the \fii + Internet icon from the Wii Menu to w\btch \b \uvideo showing the 
m\bny \bdv\bnt\bges of connecting your Wii system to the I\unternet.
Once you h\bve connec\uted your Wii system to the I\unternet, if you select this ic\uon \bg\bin, 
you will be \bsked if you would like to keep the video or de\ulete it. Deleting the video\u 
will free up Wii system memory.
If this program is deleted, it cannot be recovered. It will also be pe\,rmanently 
deleted if you format the \fii system memory (s\,ee page 63).
WiiConnect\f4™
The Wii console c\bn com\umunic\bte with the In\uternet even when th\ue power is turned o\uff. 
The WiiConnect\f4 service c\b\un deliver g\bme upd\bt\ues or other inform\b\ution even if the 
system is idle. (Bro\bdb\bnd Internet co\unnection required.)

•  Do not insert \bnyth\uing into the G\bme D\uisc slot except Wii G\bme Discs.
•  Do not move the Wii console during \uuse.

1. Using the Wii Remote Plus, select the Disc Ch\u\bnnel on the Wii Menu.
\f.  Select St\brt on the g\bme’s Ch\bnnel Preview screen to begin the g\b\ume.
•  Review the instructi\uon booklet for the \ug\bme you \bre pl\bying for speci\ufic g\bme  
  control inform\btion.
 When You’re Done Pl\bying
1. Press the Eject Button to remove the G\bme Disc\u if you \bre finished pl\bying
  the g\bme.
\f.  Turn the power off by pressing the Power Button on the front of the console, or by  
  pressing the Power Button on the Wii Remote Plus for one \usecond.

 Selecting the Mii C\uh\bnnel from the Wii Menu
Use the Wii Remote Plus to selec\ut the Mii Ch\bnnel, then select START to begin cre\bting your first 
Mii. (This Ch\bnnel is contr\uolled by one remote \bt \b time. )
 Cre\bting Your Mii
First select M\ble or\u Fem\ble. You’ll then see \b st\b\urter f\bce th\bt you c\u\bn ch\bnge, \blong with \b style \u
menu. Go through the following s\uteps to m\bke your Mii.
Select \b gender. Ch\bnge your Mii ch\br\bcters’ f\bce sh\bpe, 
h\bir color, \bnd skin tone.Fine-tune your Mii c\uh\br\bcters’ f\bce. 
Ch\bnge its eyes, brows, nose, \bnd mouth, 
\bnd even \bdd gl\bsses \bnd \bccessories.
Fin\blly, t\bilor your Mii ch\b\ur\bcters’ propor
-
tions however you l\uike. You’ve designed your\u first Mii! After you give it \b f\uew person\bl profile 
det\bils like \b Nickn\bme (see p\u\bge 10), you’re completely finishe\ud!

 Wh\bt Are Mii ch\br\bcters For?
•  You c\bn choose one of\u your Mii ch\br\bcters to be “you” \uin Mii-comp\btible g\u\bmes.
•  You c\bn store up to 100 Mii ch\br\u\bcters in your Mii \uPl\bz\b (see p\bge 11).\u
•  You c\bn c\brry Mii ch\br\u\bcters in your Wii Remote Plus to exch\bnge them with Mii\u    
  ch\br\bcters in friends’ \uWii consoles (see \up\bge 1\f). Yours will then \bppe\br in their 
  g\bmes. And vice vers\b!
•  You c\bn \blso exch\bnge Mii ch\br\bcters with friends\u \bround the world vi\b 
  WiiConnect\f4™ \bnd the Mi\ui P\br\bde (see p\bge 13).

Cre\bting More Mii ch\br\bcters
 Selecting the Mii C\uh\bnnel from the Wii Menu
Use the Wii Remote Plus to selec\ut the Mii Ch\bnnel, 
then select St\brt to enter Mii P\ul\bz\b (see p\bge 11).
Select the New Mii \uicon on the left side of the screen:
Select M\ble or Fem\ble. Then if you’ve cre\bted \b Mii 
previously, you’ll see two Mii\u st\brt-up options: \u“St\brt 
from scr\btch” or  “Choose \b \ulook-\blike.”

If you select “St\brt from scr\btch,” you’ll inst\bntly \ube given \b b\bsic st\u\brter f\bce, then you’ll fine-tun\ue \bll of its fe\btures, 
just \bs you did with\u your first Mii.
 Choosing \b Look-\blike
Select “Choose \b lo\uok-\blike” if you w\bnt to get \b M\uii designed very q\uuickly. You’ll be shown \b wid\ue v\briety of st\brter 
f\bces th\bt show \b spe\uctrum of Mii looks.
When you find \b f\bce \uyou like, select “Use this f\u\bce” to move onto t\uhe Fe\bture Edit screen, where you c\bn fine-tune t\uhe 
f\bce if you prefer.
If you find one th\bt’s close but not qui\ute right, select it \bnd you’\ull see m\bny v\bri\btio\uns on the f\bce. You c\bn use this 
method repe\btedly to get close\ur \bnd closer to the\u ex\bct f\bce th\bt you w\b\unt (\bs shown to the \uright). Select “Use this 
f\bce” when you see t\uhe ex\bct Mii f\bce you w\b\unt.

Use the style menu \uwhen ch\bnging your M\uii ch\br\bcters’ f\bce \bnd bod\uy. As you select c\bteg\uories from the top Fe\bture menu, you’ll see the Fe\bture style menu below \ufill with 
v\bri\btions  th\bt you \uc\bn choose for your \uMii ch\br\bcters’ look.

  found on other Wii consoles (see \up\bge 13). Turn the Mii’s Mingle off if you w\bnt  
  to restrict it to your \uown home Wii console only.
Seeing Your Mii ch\br\bcters in Mii Pl\bz\b
Mii ch\br\bcters th\bt you cre\bte w\blk \bround in Mii Pl\bz\b. You c\bn go to Mii Pl\u\bz\b to check out your\u Mii ch\br\bcters, edit \bnd cre\bte Mii ch\br\bcters, prep\bre Mii ch\br\bcters for going to\u 
other Wii consoles, \bnd do other useful\u things with your ho\ume Mii crowd. Up to 100 Mii ch\br\u\bcters c\bn st\by in M\uii Pl\bz\b, \bnd they’ll \bll \bpp\ue\br in \bny Mii-comp\bt\uible g\bmes you 
pl\by on your Wii console.

 Storing \b Mii in Your Wii Remote Plus
Select the Wii Remote icon from the Mii Pl\bz\b.
If you store \b Mii on your Wii Remote Plus, you c\bn t\bke it to \b 
friend’s house \bnd give \b c\uopy of your Mii to \bnother\u Wii console. 
Your Mii c\bn then be \uused in your friend\u’s Mii-comp\btible g\b\umes or 
put in your friend’\us Mii P\br\bde. (You c\bn \blso use your \uWii Remote 
Plus to gr\bb Mii ch\br\bcters from your friend’s Wii system \bnd l\bte\ur 
\bdd it to your Mii \uP\br\bde or your Mii-com\up\btible g\bme.)

Any of your friends’ Mii \uch\br\bcters th\bt \bre set to Mingle wi\ull enter your Wii system first vi\u\b the Mii P\br\bde. You c\bn see if \bny h\bve \brrived by\u selecting the Mii \uP\br\bde 
icon in the Mii Pl\b\uz\b. (You c\bn \blso bring Mi\ui ch\br\bcters in to the Mi\ui P\br\bde from the Mii Pl\bz\b, \bs described on p\b\uge 11.)
E\bch incoming Mii w\uill st\by in the Mii\u P\br\bde until you tr\bnsfer it to your M\uii Pl\bz\b, where only then will it\u st\brt showing up in\u your Mii-comp\btibl\ue g\bmes. Likewise, 
friends will first \usee \bny Mingle-\bppr\uoved Mii ch\br\bcters in their own\u Mii P\br\bdes \bnd must tr\bnsfer them to their\u Mii Pl\bz\b to see t\uhem \bppe\br in their own g\bme\us.

About Mingling
Your Mii ch\br\bcters will enter f\uriends’ Mii P\br\bdes only if your Mii ch\br\bcters’ individu\bl M\uingle settings \bre turned on. There \bre then two w\bys to \usend those Mii ch\br\bcters to their  
consoles. You c\bn tr\bnsfer Mii ch\br\bcters vi\b your Wii Remote Plus (see p\bg\ue 1\f), or you c\bn let them\u tr\bvel on their own v\ui\b WiiConnect\f4 (see p\bge \u6\f).
NOTE: Mii ch\br\bcters will tr\bvel to other Wii consoles vi\b WiiConnect\f4 only if you’ve registered your friends in \uyour Wii \bddress book (requires \bn Internet conn\uection), \bnd if you  
\bnd your friends h\bv\ue Mingle options t\uurned on.
Lists the number of\u Mii ch\br\bcters in the Mii P\ul\bz\b.

Using the Photo Ch\bn\unel

• View your photos \bs \u\b slide show.
•  Dr\bw on your photos.
•  S\bve your photos to \uthe Wii System Memory in the\u console using the    
  Wii Mess\bge Bo\brd (see p\bge 30).
•  Send your pictures to \bnyone on you\ur list of Wii Friends.
 Inserting \bn SD or \uSDHC C\brd
Insert \bn SD C\brd into the SD C\brd Slot on the 
front of the console (3\f GB \um\bximum size).
NOTE: You c\bn \blso use mini\uSD C\brds \bnd 
microSD C\brds if you h\bve \bn SD C\brd \bd\bpter, 
which c\bn be found \bt\u most ret\bil stores th\bt sell 
SD C\brds. See p\bge \f\f for mor\ue inform\btion on 
SD C\brds.
 Selecting Your Photo Source
1. Using the Wii Remote Plus, select the Photo C\uh\bnnel on the Wii Menu. (More  
  th\bn one remote c\bn be used w\uith the Photo Ch\bnnel\u \bt one time.)
