1 insTallaTion 3.5 Turning on the Power Press the ON button on the remote control to turn on the H9080FD. The power LED indicator flashes green to indicate that it is warming up.\ When the projector is ready for use, the LED indicator turns off, and th\ e projector lights. 3.6 Changing the OSD Language The H9080FD can display the menus in English, Español, Français, Deutsch, Nederlands, Italiano, 繁體中文, and 简体中文. Enter the OSD, select Language in SETUP menu, then press the or buttons to select a language. Then, press ENTER to confirm your selection. 3.7 Adjusting the Picture Orientation If the H9080FD is installed behind the screen, you must change the pictu\ re orientation to match the installation meth- od. To do this, press MENU on the remote control. Then, select SETUP fro\ m the Main Menu. Rear Projection If the projector is used in a rear-projection application, press repeatedly to select Rear Projection from the SETUP Menu. Press or to set it to On. Ceiling Mode If the projector is ceiling-mounted, the H9080FD automatically inverts t\ he image. If this automatic inversion is not de- sired, select Ceiling Mode from the SETUP Menu and set it to Off. 1. 2.
3.8 Lens Adjustments The H9080FD gives you a great deal of control over the picture size, pos\ ition and focus. Focus To focus the projected image, grasp the lens by the front ring and rotate it. Lens Shift To access the lens shift controls: Loosen the two screws located at the rear side and underneath of the projec- tor as shown in the figure at the right. Slide the center portion of the top cover backward to expose the holes for lens shift. Vertical Lens Shift: To shift the projected image vertically, insert the provided hex wrench into the hole at the top of the pro- jector (directly above the lens). Then, turn the wrench as shown to shift the lens in the desired direction. Horizontal Lens Shift: To shift the project- ed image horizontally, insert the provided hex wrench into the hole at the top of the projector. 4 4.1 Selecting an Aspect Ratio Press the aspect ratio () button to select the appropriate aspect ratio for the type of program\ material being viewed. 4.2 Selecting An Input Source When you turn on the H9080FD, it switches to the last selected input and looks for a valid signal. Use these buttons on the remote control to select an input source directly. 4.3 Using the On-Screen Menus Press the MENU button on the remote control or system keypad to display \ the Main Menu. There are five menus. Press or to select a sub-menu. Press or to select a sub-menu item. For each sub-menu item, the currently-selected value is highlighted. Press or to choose a setting for that item, or press ENTER to go to another sub-\ menu. Press MENU to return to the previous menu. From the Main Menu, press MENU to turn off the OSD menu. The H9080FD OSD menus are arranged hierarchically, as shown in Figure 4-\ 1. 6 GENERAL The H9080FD GENERAL Menu, shown in Figure 4-2, provides access to the most commonly-used projector functions. 7 Menu Position: Select Menu Position from the GENERAL menu to change the OSD menu positi\ on. The default setting is “” (top left). PIP Select: To select a Picture in Picture source, press or to highlight PIP Select, then press ENTER. This displays the PIP Select sub-menu. The default source selection is Off. Top Left: This places the PIP source into a 644x362 designated image are\ a at the top left of the screen. Top Right: This places the PIP source into a 644x362 designated image ar\ ea at the top right of the screen. Bottom Left: This places the PIP source into a 644x362 designated image \ area at the bottom left of the screen- safe area of the DMD. Bottom Right: This places the PIP source into a 644x362 designated image\ area at the bottom right of the screen-safe area of the DMD. PBP (Picture-By-Picture): This reduces the designated image area of th\ e Active source to 921x518 and places it next to the PIP source, which is also in a 921x518 image area. These two\ images are centered on the screen. Split: This is the mode in which the active source is also used as the P\ IP source and placed in a PIP area equal to half the display on the left side. Recall Memory: Select Memory from the General menu, and then press Enter to activate \ Recall Memory. Use the or buttons to select the modes: User-1, User-2 or Default. Save Settings: Select Memory from the General menu, and then press to highlight Save Settings. Use the or buttons to select the modes: User-1 or User-2. Figure 4-7: Memory Sub-Menu Blank Screen: Select Blank Screen from the GENERAL menu to choose the color of the bl\ ank screen that appears when no source signal is present. The options are Logo, Black, Blue and \ White. The default is Black. Logo Display: Select to enable or disable the splash screen. Auto Source: This function scans for active sources when the current source is not a\ vailable (default setting is Off). Test Patterns: The H9080FD has numerous internal test patterns that are useful to techn\ icians for advanced cali- bration, measurement and fault isolation purposes. To access them, selec\ t Test Patterns from the GENERAL menu and set it to On. The available test patterns are: White Black Red Green Blue Cyan Magenta Yellow ANSI Checkerboard Horizontal Gray Ramp Focus Grid Press or on the remote control unit or built-in keypad to cycle through the test\ patterns. NoteThe OSD menus are not available when in “test pattern” mode. To turn test patterns off, press any key other than or on the remote control unit or built-in keypad. Aspect Ratio: To change the aspect ratio (size and shape) of the projected image, pr\ ess or to highlight Aspect Ratio. Use the or buttons to select the appropriate aspect ratio for your screen size, in\ stalled lens con- figuration and the type of program material being viewed, then press ENT\ ER; refer to Table 4-1.
