    Holding Your Camera Correctly 
     
    How to hold your camera correctly when capturing images 
    Powering on your camera activates the lens to open out like a periscope. 
    Hold the camera steady and correctly as shown is the diagram below. 
    Note:  Do not touch or move the lens once it opens and is in use. This causes damage to the     
    camera. 
     
     
     
     
    Finger Touch Screen Feature 
    Your digital camera supports a touch screen feature for convenient and quick operation. Merely 
    use your finger to touch the red circle next to the relevant parts of the screen in order to activate 
    the corresponding functions. The touch areas on the LCD screen are displayed below:

    Camera Modes 
    Your digital touch screen camera has 4 main modes: 
    Playback Mode, Still Image (Photo) Mode, Movie (Video) Mode and Setup Mode. 
     
     Playback Mode: Use this mode to view, manage and edit the photos and videos on your 
    camera. 
     
     Still Image (Photo Capture) Mode: Use this mode to capture pictures with your camera. 
     
     Movie (Video Capture) Mode: Use this mode to capture videos with your digital camera. 
     
     Setup Mode: Use the Setup mode to change the setup features on the camera - Exposure, 
    ISO, White Balance, Sharpness, Quality, Language, Digital Zoom, Frequency, Auto Power off, 
    Date, Format and Default Setting. 
     
    Selecting Modes 
    In order to select the mode, please follow the below steps: 
     
    1. Press the HOME button. The following menu with icons appears on the LCD touch screen 
     
    2. Touch the red circle next to the Playback icon  to enter the Playback Mode. 
    3. Touch the red circle next to the Still Image icon  to enter the Still Image (Photo Capture)

    4. Touch the red circle next to the Movie Mode icon  to enter the Movie (Video Capture) 
    Mode. 
    5. Touch the red circle next to the Setup icon  to enter the Setup Menu Mode. 
     
     
    Note: If you are in the Playback or Movie (Video) Mode, pressing the Home button exits these 
    modes and opens the Still Image (Photo) Mode. 
     
    Be aware that the Touch Screen area with the red circles is very sensitive and you may be 
    unaware that you have activated a certain feature. Always double check before using the

    Still Image (Photo Capture) Mode 
    This is the default mode when turning on your camera. 
     
    Taking Photos 
    1. Compose your shot using the LCD screen.  
    2. Hold the camera steady and hold your finger on the Shutter button and wait for the camera 
    to focus in on the object. 
    - Center your object with the white frame that appears on the LCD. 
    - When the frame turns green the image is ready to be captured. 
    3. Press the Shutter button to take the photo. 
    4. There is a short delay while the camera saves the photo to memory. 
     
    After each photo is taken (when the camera returns to icon mode) the numbers of photos left to 
    shoot at the selected resolution is displayed on the top right of the LCD screen. 
    When the cameras memory (photo capacity) is full, the LCD screen displays a message - 
    “Memory Full, Insert a SD memory card to Transfer and Take More Photos!” 
    Either download the photo to your computer using the Vivitar Experience Image Manager software 
    as described below in the section “Transferring Media from my Camera to my Computer 
    Manually” or insert another SD card to continue taking more photos and videos. 
     
     
    Optical Zoom 
    You can magnify your subject up to 3 times using the optical zoom by touching the icon  
    function area to Zoom In or touch the icon  function area to zoom back out. 
    Note: When using this function, the camera automatically adjusts the lens. Be careful not to touch 
    the Lens while the camera is adjusting. 
     
     
    Digital Zoom  
    You can magnify your subject up to 4 times using the digital zoom by touching the icon  and 
     function area.

    1. Touch the icon  function area to Zoom In on your object.  
    2. The following icon  appears on your LCD screen.  
    3. Touch the icon  function area to Zoom back out. 
    Note: You can zoom in/out of your subject with Optical/Digital Zoom together. Touch the icon  
    or  function area to zoom in or out of your subject with 3x optical and 4x digital zoom. 
     
     
    Hide / Show the LCD Screen Display Icons 
    To hide the icons that appear on the LCD screen, touch the “DIS” function area on the Touch 
    screen. For the icons to reappear touch the “DIS” function area again. 
     
     
    Flash 
    In low light conditions it is best to use the built-in flash. You can also use the flash to compensate 
    for backlight conditions.    
       Force Flash,   Auto,  Red eye reduction,   No Flash          
    To set the flash: 
    1. Touch the icon  function area on the bottom right of the touch screen until the  Auto 
    icon appears on the left side of the LCD screen.    This activates the automatic flash.  
    2. Touch the icon  function area until the  Force Flash icon appears on the LCD screen.   
    This means the flash function has been forced on (manual flash).    
    Note: If the flash is not ready, the LED lights up and theicon flashes repeatedly - wait until 
    the flash is ready before taking a photo.  
    3. Touch the icon  function area until the  Red-Eye Reduction icon appears on the left 
    side of the LCD screen.    This activates the red-eye reduction feature to limit red eye when 
    taking the photo.  
    4. To turn off the flash function touch the icon  function area until the No Flash icon 
    appears.

    Still Image (Photo Capture) Mode Menus 
    The following are the menus that appear in your camera‟s Photo Capture Mode: 
     
    Scene 
    The Scene Menu allows you to choose scene settings that allow your camera to adapt properly to 
    your current environment. 
    Scene included with your camera are - Auto, Night Portrait, Night Scenery, Portrait, Scenery, 
    Sport, Party, Beach or High Sensitivity.  
    Select the scene in accordance with the light and environmental conditions at the time of taking 
    the photo. 
    1. Press the MENU/OK button.  
     
    2. Touch the Next icon  function area repeatedly until you see the “Scene” option appear. 
    3. Touch the icon  function area to enter the Scene menu. 
    4. Touch the icon  function area to select the scene you want to use. 
    5. The area beneath the Scene option area describes the selected icon. 
     Auto        Night Portrait      Night Scenery 
     Portrait    Scenery       Sport 
      Party        Beach            High Sensitivity 
    6. Press the MENU/OK button to confirm, save and exit to the camera standby mode. 
    7. The selected icon appears next to the camera icon on the top left of the LCD screen.

    Image Size 
    The image size and quality settings determine the number of photos that can be saved and the 
    amount of memory required for each photo. The higher the photo quality the more memory it will 
    take. The image size and quality will also affect the maximum size you can effectively print your 
    photo. To set the Image size: 
    1. Press the MENU/OK button.  
     
    2. Touch the Next icon function area until you see “Image Size” option. 
    3. Touch the icon  function area to enter the Image Size menu. 
    4. Touch the icon  function area to select the image size you want. 
    5. The area beneath the Image Size option area describes the pixel size of the selected icon. 
    (14.1M) 4416x3312, (10M) 3648X2736, (8M) 3264x2448, (7M HD) 3648x2048, (5M) 
    2592x1944, (3M) 2048x1536, (2M HD) 1920x1080 and (VGA) 640x480  
    6. Press the MENU/OK button to confirm, save and exit to the camera standby mode. 
    7. The selected image size icon appears on the top of the LCD screen. 
     
     
    Anti-Shake 
    The Anti-Shake feature reduces image distortion that can be caused by movement of the camera 
    while capturing the image. 
    1. Press the MENU/OK button.  
     
    2. Touch the Next icon function area until you see the “Anti-Shake” option.

    3. Touch the icon  function area to enter the Anti-Shake menu. 
    4. Touch the icon  function area to select Anti-Shake On or Off. 
      Anti-Shake on 
      Anti-Shake off 
    5. Press the MENU/OK button to confirm, save and exit to the camera standby mode. 
    6. The Anti-Shake icon selected appears on the left side of the LCD screen. 
     
     
    Self-Timer 
    You can include yourself in a photo by using this feature to delay the time between you pressing 
    the Shutter button and when the photo is actually taken. It is recommended that you use a tripod 
    or place the camera on a flat and sturdy surface when using the self-timer. 
    1. Press the MENU/OK button.  
     
    2. Touch the Next iconarea to select the next page until you see the “Self-Timer” option. 
    3. Touch the icon  function area to enter the self-timer mode selection. 
    4. By touching the icon  function area select the self-time option you desire:   
    2 seconds, 5 seconds , 10 seconds or Off 
    5. Press the MENU/OK button to confirm.  
    6. The Self-Timer icon (per your selection) appears on the screen.  
    7. Press the Shutter button until you see the self-timer begin the count-down. Your camera 
    will count down 2, 5 or 10 seconds as per your choice and then automatically take the 
    photo.

    Face Detection 
    The Face Detect feature when set to „On‟ allows the camera to use a subject‟s face as the basis 
    for balancing the other colors and focus in the camera‟s display. This feature is meant to ensure 
    that the color and focus of your pictures will be consistently sharp and high-quality. 
    1. Press the MENU/OK button.  
     
    2. Touch the Next icon function area until you see the “Face Detection” option. 
    3. Touch the icon  function area to enter the Face Detection menu. 
    4. Touch the icon  function area to select the Face Detection On or Off. 
     Face Detection ON        Face detection OFF 
    5. Press the MENU/OK button to confirm and exit to the camera standby mode. 
    6. The Face Detection icon selected appears on the LCD screen. 
     
     
     
    Macro/Far shooting  
    With the Macro feature you can capture images at close range (30 ~ 45 cm). To enable the Macro 
    mode, select  „On‟. The flower icon  appears on the LCD and indicates that the Macro mode 
    is ON. 
     
    To return to the normal mode and disable the Macro mode, select  „Off‟. The mountain icon  
    appears on the LCD. When Macro mode is off, images can be captured from 1.5m - infinity.

    1. Press the MENU/OK button. 
     
    2. Touch the Next icon  function area on the bottom right of the touch screen until the 
    Macro menu appears 
    3. Touch the Macro icon  function area 
    4. Touch the Left icon  function area to select the Macro or Far shooting icon. 
    5. The area beneath the Macro/Far shooting area describes the selected icon. 
     : Macro shooting - On 
     : Far shooting - Off 
    6. Press the MENU/OK button to confirm, save your choice and exit to the camera standby 
    mode.
