21 Installing Software Software Overview and Features The Digital Camera includes a mass storage driver that provides fast and easy video and image download. Also included are Ulead PhotoExpress software. These programs provide powerful and user-friendly tools to edit, enhance, and organize the digital pictures and videos. Digital Camera Driver • Mass storage function - provides easy and fast downloads Ulead Photo Express 4.0 SE • Provides easy-to-use and powerful tools for photo editing and image enhancing • Includes templates to create calendars and greeting cards • Features step-by-step instructions to create exciting panoramas Adobe Acrobat Reader 5.05 • Open and review the m anual in PDF How to Install the Digital Camera Driver and software Camera Driver: Windows 2000/ME/XP operating systems support mass storage; therefore, it is not required to install the driver to download images, videos, or audio files. Windows 98SE users MUST install this driver to download the images, videos, and audio files. Insert the supplied CD software into the CD-ROM drive. The CD should auto run. If the CD does not auto run, go to Start → Run and type in “d:\setup.exe” (where D: is the CD-ROM drive). The Installer Menu will appear: 1. Press “ Digital Camera Driver” 2. Insert the smaller USB connector in the USB port of your CAMERA 3. Insert the larger USB connector in the USB port on your computer. 4. Now the CAMERA is BUS-powered. This means the USB port provides the CAMERA with power as soon as it is connected to the computer and switches it on\ automatically. 5. The computer/operating system recognizes the CAMERA as a new unknown device. You are then requested to install the appropriate driver. If your computer ask for driver location, you need to select the CD -ROM. 6. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the installation of th\ e driver for still pictures. • Installs Owner’s Manual automatically on the computer • Web-cam function

Click “Next” on the select program folder screen. 9. Confirm the setting before copfing files. C lick “Next” to transfer files if it is correct. 10. The setup progress bar will appear, please wait until the bar disappears to proceed. 11. Installation completed. Click “Finish” to quit. You can also choose registrate to Ulead though internet .
25 Making Connections How to Connect to the PC 1. Make sure the camera’s power is OFF. 2. Connect the small end of the USB cable to the USB port on the camera. 3. Connect the larger end of the USB cable to the USB port on the computer. 4. The camera’s red LED will light to indicate PC-connection, the computer will detect a new hardware, and display the following message: “New Hardware Found, COACH DSC, Mass Storage Driver“. 5. For Windows 98SE users If this is the first time connection, follow the on-screen instructions to install the hardware drivers. Wait until the hardware driv er completely installs before downloading files. How to Connect to the TV 1. Make sure the camera’s power is OFF. 2. Connect the single-ended AV cable (optional ) to the TV-out port on the camera, and connect the color-coded double-ended cable to the AV port on the TV (white to white, yellow to yellow). 3. Refer to “How to Playback Image/Video on a TV“ on page 15 to playback images/videos on the TV screen.

How to Download Files to a PC For Windows 98SE/2000/ME Users 1. Connect the camera to the computer. Refer to the “Making Connections“ section on page 25. 2. The computer will detect a hardware device. 3. Double-click to open “My Comp uter“ (located on the desktop) → “Removable Drive (E:\)“ (where E: is the removable drive of the computer) → “DCIM“ → “100ICAM “. 4. Two methods to download the files: “Copy & Paste“ or “Drag & Drop“. To Copy & Paste • Highlight the desired files and right-click on the mouse. • Select “Copy“ from short-cut menu. • Go to the location to save the files and right-click on the mouse again. • Select “Paste“ from the short-cut menu. • Highlight the desired files, left-click and hold down the mouse button. • Drag the files to the desired loca tion, and release the left button. 1. Connect the camera to the computer. Refer to the “Making Connections“ section on page 25. 2. Upon connection, Windows Wizard will appear. Select “Play“, “Find, Fix, and Share Photos“, “Transfer videos and create album“, “Open folder to view files“, or “Take no action“. Make a selection and click OK. How to Dowload Pictures via Ulead Photo Express 4.0 1. Power ON the camera by sliding the lens cover to the left. 2. Connect the camera to the computer. Power ON the camera by sliding the lens cover to the left. 2. Connect the camera to the PC with the supplied USB cable. Refer to ”Making Connections” on page 25. 3. Double-click to open “My Computer” located on the desktop ˆ ”Removable Disc” ˆ “MP3” folder. 4. Use Copy & Paste or Drag & Drop to download MP3 files. Note: (1) The internal memory has 16MB. Any image, video or audio file saved on the internal memory will consume space. (2) When the MP3 file is transferring to the camera, the Red LED will flash continuously. You will see the file is completely transferred to the camera in the screen but the Red LED is still flashing. Do not disconnect the USB cable until the Red LED stop flashing. Incorrect file transaction will cause the camera can not play MP3 file properly
28 Camera Maintenance Places to Avoid Do not store or use the camera in the following environments: - Very humid, dirty or dusty places - In direct sunlight or in places subject to extrem e temperature rises, such as in a closed car in summer/winter - Extremely cold places - Places subject to strong vibrations - Places affected by smoke or steam - Places subject to strong magnetic fields (such as places near motors, transformers or magnets) - For long periods in contact with chemicals such as pesticides or next to rubber or vinyl products - Any wet areas such as bathroom, swimming pool, etc Do not expose the camera to sand : The camera is particularly and adversely affected by sand. In sandy locations such as beaches or deserts, or in locations where there is wind borne sand, make sure that the camera is well shielded from sand or dust. Avoid Condensation: If the camera is exposed to areas of sudden transition from cold places to warm place, water droplets (condensation) may form on the inside of the camera or on the lens. When traveling overseas: Do not place your camera in the check-in baggage. Baggage handling at airports may cause violent shocks to baggages, and the camera may be damaged internally even when no external damage is visible. How to Store the Camera If you do not intend to use the camera for a long period of time, please remove the batteries before storing the camera. Refer to the “Product Specification“ section on page 30 for storage temperature and humidity tolerance. How to Clean the Digital Camera When cleaning your digital camera, please use a soft brush to remove dust from the lens and LCD surface and then wipe lightly with a soft, dry cloth. If any soiling remains, apply a small amount of lens cleaning liquid to a piece of lens cleaning paper and wipe gently. Do not scratch the camera lens, LCD screen or viewfinder with hard objects as these surfaces are easily damaged. Do not use volatile substances such as thinners, benzine or insectic ide, as these may react with the camera body and cause deformation or corrosion to the camera body.
29 Safety Rules ♦ Do not use the flash close to anyone’s eyes, especially when taking pictures of a baby. ♦ When a fault arises, power OFF the camera immediately and remove the batteries or disconnect the USB connection with a PC. ♦ Power OFF the camera and remove the batteries or disconnect the USB connection with a PC when the camera becomes very warm, emit smoke, emit unusual odor or in any other abnormal state. Continuing the use of the camera in these sit uations may cause fire or electric shock. ♦ Do not cover or wrap the camera when it is warm . This may cause the heat to build up and distort the camera casing or cause a fire. ♦ Do not allow water or foreign objects to enter the camera. ♦ Do not attempt to modify or disassemble the camera. ♦ Do not use the camera when it has been dropped or when the casing is damaged. This may cause a fire or an electric shock. ♦ Do not use the camera in bathroom or shower ♦ Do not touch any metal parts of the camera during a thunderstorm. This can cause an electric shock due to induced current from the lighting discharge. ♦ If the batteries leak and fluids come into contact with your skin or clothing, immediately flush the affected area thoroughly with clean water and seek medical treatment. ♦ When discarding or storing batteries, cover the battery terminals with an insulation tape. Contacts with other metallic objects or batteries could cause the batteries to ignite or burst. ♦ Do not heat, modify or attempt to disassemble the batteries. ♦ Do not drop or subject the batteries to impacts. ♦ Do not attempt to recharge lithium or alkaline batteries. Recharge rechargeable batteries only. ♦ Do not store the batteries with metallic products. ♦ When used under a strong electr o-static discharge environment such as directly under lightening or transformer, the camera may go into an idle/fault mode. Simply remove the batteries to reset the camera and then power on the camera again. ♦ Make sure the camera is under your supervision at all times when it is connected to a computer via the USB cable. The camera may become very warm when connecting to the computer for a long period of time. Please disconnect the camera from t he USB port and power off the camera to allow it to cool down.

Change the angle of the picture so that bright lights do not shine directly towards the camera lens. My MP3 music cannot play on the camera The frequency of the MP3 files may be incorrect. The Digital Camera supports 44.1Hz freq uency only. Use a file converter to convert the frequency of your MP3 file to 44.1Hz.
