11 Settings This feature allows you to either save your current setting or return to the default setting. • Current • Default • Exit Use the / buttons to select your setting and press the OK button and turn off the camera. Note: The default setting resumes after the batteries are changed. How to Capture Digital Still Image 1. Power ON the camera by sliding the lens cover open. 2. The camera’s default mode is the Still Capture preview screen; otherwise, press the MODE button to toggle to the Still Capture mode (shown below) 3. Frame the subject through the LCD or the optical viewfinder, hold the camera steady or set it on a tripod. 4. Press the Shutter button to take a picture. The camera will beep once to confirm t hat a picture has been taken. Note: The camera will only beep if it is set to “Sound ON” in Settings option. The camera’s button serves as the display option button so that the LC D icons will be removed (displaying only the preview screen) during Still Image Capture mode or Video Capture mode. To turn off the camera icons while taking a picture or a video, press and hold down the button, and the icons will disappear. To bring back the icons on the LCD screen, press the button again. Note: The camera cannot be in zoom status while pressing the button to turn off the icons. Exit the zoom function first and then press the button . ▼ ▲ ▼ ▼ ▼ ▼ ▼
12 Still Image Capture Options The Still Capture Menu provides the following menu options for advanced photo shooting: Resolution, Flash ON/OFF, Self-Timer, White Balance, and Exposure Value Adjustment. From the Still Capture mode, press the MENU button to bring up the Still Capture Menu (shown below) Still Image Capture Menu Items Resolution This feature allows you choose a high or a low resolution when taking still images • 6M * • High (default) • Normal • Low * 6MP through firmware interpolation Use the / buttons to select the resolution setting and press the OK button. Flash This feature let’s you take pictures where there is insufficient lighting. • Auto • ON – flash will fire regardless of the lighting condition • OFF – flash will not fi re regardless of the lighting condition Use the / buttons to select your choice and press the OK button. Note : The flash will not function when battery power is low. ▼ ▲ ▼ ▲
13 Self-timer This feature lets you take a picture remotely. • ON • OFF Use the / buttons to select your choice and press the OK button. W. Balance This feature lets you set the white balance according to the lighting condition when taking a picture. • Auto • Sunny • Cloudy • Fluorescent • Tungsten • Night Use the / buttons to select the white balance and press the OK button. EV Adjust This feature lets you set the exposure value when taking a picture. The default is set at EV 0. Use the / buttons to increase / decrease the EV number by an incremental value of +/-0.3. Press the OK button to confirm. Exit This option will exit the Still Capture Menu and back to the Capture preview screen. ▼ ▲ ▼ ▲ ▼ ▲
14 How to Capture Digital Video The Digital Camera captures digital videos with sound at 10 frames per second. Follow the instructions below to record digital video. 1. Power ON the camera by sliding the camera lens-cover to the left. 2. Press the MENU button to toggle to Video Capture mode (shown below). 3. Press the OK button to bring up the Video Capture Menu (shown below). 4. Use the / buttons to select “Audio ON” or “Audio OFF” with your video and press the OK button. 5. Frame the subject with the LCD screen or the optical viewfinder. 6. Hold the camera steady and press the S hutter button to start recording a video. 7. To stop recording, press the Shutter button again. Note: Do not hold down the Shutter button while recording a video. How to Record Audio The Digital Camera records voice annotation for up to 17 minutes with the internal memory. Follow the instructions below to record an audio file. 1. Power ON the camera by sliding the lens cover to the left. 2. Press the MODE button to toggle to Video Capture mode. ▼ ▲
15 3. Press the MENU button to bring up the Video Capture Menu. 4. Use the / buttons to select “Audio Only” and press the OK button. 5. The camera LCD will display a blank screen with the audio icon and stop icon on the upper left corner, and the time counter on the lower right corner. 6. Press the Shutter button once to begin recording and speak clearly into the microphone located on the front of the camera. 7. The time counter will begin to count down in minutes and seconds. 8. To stop recording, press the Shutter button again. Note: Do not hold down the Shutter button while recording audio. How to Playback Image/Video on the LCD The Digital Camera can playback the photos and videos on the color LCD display. Follow the instructions below: 1. Power ON the camera by sliding the lens cover to the left. 2. Press the MODE button to toggle to Playback mode (shown below). ▼ ▲
16 3. The LCD will display the last image or video that wa s saved on the internal memory or the memory card. Note: Using a memory card will disable the internal memory. To playback the images/videos stored on the internal memory, remove the memory card first. 4. Press the / buttons to toggle through the images/videos. Playback Options The Digital Camera provides these viewing options: thumbnails and slideshows. Press the MENU button to bring up the Playback Menu (shown below). Playback Menu 4 Thumbnails This feature allows you to view four images at a time. Use the / buttons to select “4 Thumbnail”, and then press the OK button. ▼ ▲ ▼ ▲
17 9 Thumbnails This feature allows you to view nine images at a time. Use the / buttons to select “9 Thumbnail”, and then press the OK button. Slideshow This feature allows you to watch a slideshow on the camera. Use the / buttons to select “Slideshow”, and then press the OK button. The slideshow will begin to play in chronicle order of the images taken. To stop the slideshow at anytime, press the OK button again. Delete One This feature allows you to delete an image, video, or audio file from memory. Toggle to the image, video, or audio file that you want to delete, and press the MENU button to access the Playback Menu. Use the / buttons to select “Delete One”, and then press the OK button. The camera will for confirmation, select “YES” to delete the current file, or “NO” to exit delete mode, and then press the OK button. ▼ ▲ ▼ ▲ ▼ ▲
18 Delete ALL This feature allows you to delete ALL of the files saved on the memory. Press the MENU button to access the Playback Menu. Use the / buttons to select “Delete ALL”, and then press the OK button. The camera will ask for co nfirmation, select “YES” to delete ALL of the files, or “NO” to exit delete mode, and then press the OK button. Display This feature allows you to clear the LCD screen of icon displays so that only the image is showing on the LCD. To view the images without camera icons, press the MENU button to access the Playback Menu. Use the / buttons to select “Display”, and then press the OK button. The camera will ask you to confirm, select “ON” to view the photos with camera icons, or “OFF” to view the pictures without the camera icons. Exit This feature allows you to exit the Playback Menu. ▼ ▲ ▼ ▲
19 How to Playback Image/Video on a TV The Digital Camera has a TV-out feature to watch digital pictures and videos on a TV screen. 1. Connect the AV cable (optional) to the camera and TV set. Refer to the “Making Connections” section on page 25 . 2. Power ON the camera by sliding the lens cover to the left. 3. Press the MODE button to toggle to Setup mode. 4. Use the / buttons to select TV-Output and press OK button. 5. Select “NTSC” or “PAL” accord ing to your region and press the OK button. 6. The pictures and videos will playback on the TV screen starting with the last image or video. ▼ ▲
20 How to Listen to MP3 Music The Digital Camera has a built-in MP3 player. Note: (1) The MP3 function only supports the file format wi thin the 44.1Hz frequency range. This is the typical frequency of most walkman players. (2) The MP3 file name must be in English.The ot her language file name can be read also but no guarantee. 1. Insert a SD card with MP3 music stored on it. Refer to How to Copy MP3 Music to SD Card on page 5. 2. Plug in the supplied earphones to the earphone jack located on the side of the camera. 3. Power ON the camera by sliding the lens cover open. 4. Press the MODE button to toggle to MP3 Player mode. 5. The LCD will display a black scr een with the music, play/stop, and play loop icons on the upper left corner. The time counter will display in the center, an d the number of song in the lower corner of the LCD. 6. Use the / buttons to toggle through the song s, and then press and hold down the Shutter button for two (2) seconds to start playing. 7. When the MP3 music is playing, press the + / - buttons to increase / decrease the sound volume. 8. To stop the music, press and hold down the Shutter button for two (2) seconds again. Note: (1) The internal memory can store MP3 files. Ho wever, the memory space is limited to 16MB and any photos, videos, or audio files stored on t he internal memory will take up the space. Refer to “How to Download MP3 Music to the Camera” on page 27. (2) The camera support MPEG 1 audio layer 3 only. ( 64K – 320Kbps). The filename must be English. ▼ ▲
