10 Camera Setting Options The following camera setting options appear as icons in the Main Menu: Photo Resolution Image Quality Frequency Format Photo Resolution The Photo Resolution menu allows you to choose the desired size of the images taken by your camera. Keep in mind that images with a higher resolution will also take up more of your camera‟s memory. 1. Press the Power button to power on the camera and enter the Photo Capture mode by default. 2. Press the Up/Menu button to enter the Menu options. (The Self-Timer icon appears by default.) 3. Press the Left/Right button to select Photo Resolution. The Photo Resolution icon displays on the screen. 4. Press the Shutter button to toggle between the different Photo Resolution options.
11 5. Press the Up/Menu button again to select and save the desired photo resolution. Photo Resolution Options: High resolution (1600x1200 pixels, default mode). Middle resolution (1280x1024 pixels). Low resolution (640x480 pixels). NOTE: At higher resolutions the pictures captured will be clearer but will take up more of the camera‟s memory. You will therefore be able to take fewer photos at higher resolution than at lower resolution. An indication of the number of photos that can still be captured for each resolution appears on the bottom left of the LCD screen once the picture is taken. Image Quality The Image Quality menu allows you to select the desired quality level of the images taken by your camera. Keep in mind that images with a higher image quality level will also take up more memory on your camera. 1. Press the Power button to power on the camera and enter the Photo Capture mode by default. 2. Press the Up/Menu button to enter the Menu options. (The Self-Timer icon appears by default.) 3. Press the Left/Right button to select Image Quality. The Image Quality icon displays on the screen.
12 4. Press the Shutter button to toggle between the different Image Quality options (listed below). 5. Press the Up/Menu button again to select and save the desired Image Quality. Image Quality Options: High Quality. Low Quality (default mode) Frequency The options in the Frequency menu represent the frequency of the electrical current in fluorescent lighting sources in your locale. If your camera is set to a frequency that does not match your country‟s electric current, you may see waves on the images taken by your camera. 1. Press the Power button to power on the camera and enter the Photo Capture mode by default. 2. Press the Up/Menu button to enter the Menu options. (The Self-Timer icon appears by default.) 3. Press the Left/Right button to select Frequency. The Frequency icon displays on the screen. Select the correct frequency for the present conditions you find yourself. 4. Press the Shutter button to toggle between the different Frequency options (listed below). 5. Press the Up/Menu button again to select and save the desired Frequency. Frequency Options: 50Hz (Europe, Japan) ; 60Hz (United States, Asia)
13 Format You can use the Format Camera Memory menu to delete all of the content that is currently on your camera‟s memory. Keep in mind that formatting the memory will permanently delete all of the content on your camera‟s memory. 1. Press the Power button to power on the camera and enter the Photo Capture mode by default. 2. Press the Up/Menu button to enter the Menu options. (The Self-Timer icon appears by default.) 3. Press the Left/Right button to select Format. The Format icon displays on the screen. 4. Press the Shutter button to toggle between the Format options (listed below). 5. Press the Up/Menu button again to select and save the desired Format option. Format Options: - Format: Automatically DELETES all images (photos and videos) on your camera‟s memory. - Cancel: Exits without deleting images and returns to taking photos in Photo Capture mode. NOTE: Please use this feature only after you have downloaded all the images to your computer. Once format the images/video are lost forever and cannot be retrieved.
14 Capturing Photos When the digital camera is first powered ON, the camera will be in Photo Capture Mode by default. The Photo Capture mode allows you to capture pictures with your digital camera. Taking Individual Photos 1. Compose your shot using the LCD screen. Direct the camera at the scene you would like to capture. 2. Hold the camera steady and press the Shutter button. 3. A beep will sound and the red LED indicator on the front of the camera will light up, indicating that the photo has been taken. Do not move the camera until you hear the beep. Moving the camera while taking the picture will cause the photo to blur. After each photo is taken the number of photos left to shoot at this photo resolution and quality is displayed at the bottom- right of the LCD screen. If there is not enough battery power, two quick beeps will sound, indicating that the photo cannot be taken. If the camera‟s memory is full, two quick beeps will sound, indicating that photos cannot be taken. In order to continue taking photos you will need to download the photos on the camera to the computer and then delete them from the camera.
15 Capturing Video The Video Capture Mode allows you to capture videos with your digital camera. When the camera is first powered ON, the camera will be in Photo Capture Mode. Press the Left/Mode button once to access the Video Capture Mode. 1. Press the Power button to turn on the camera. Remember: Toggle between the camera modes by pressing the Left/Mode button until the Video icon appears in the top left corner. 2. Press the Shutter to start recording your video. The recording length is displayed on the bottom-right of LCD screen. 3. Press the Shutter button again to stop recording and automatically save the video in AVI format. Playback Mode The Playback Mode allows you to review and delete your photos and videos that you‟ve already taken with you camera. When you first turn on the camera, the camera will be in Photo Capture mode by default. Press the Down/Playback button to open the Playback Mode. The latest captured image appears on the LCD screen. If there are no images stored the „No Image‟ icon appears on the LCD screen -
16 To navigate in the Playback Mode: 1. Press the Power button to turn on the camera. 2. Press the Down/Playback button on your camera in order to view all the photos and videos that are presently on your camera. 3. Press the Left/Right button to navigate between the photos and videos. 4. To exit the Playback mode, press the Down/Playback button. To play a selected Video: 1. In Playback mode, press the Left/Right button to select the video you would like to view. 2. Press the Shutter button to start the video playback. 3. Press the Shutter button again to stop the video playback. Delete Options Delete a Single File 1. Press the Left/Right button to select and view the image (photo or video) you would like to delete. 2. Press the Up/Menu button in Playback mode. 3. A Delete Single Photo icon appears on the LCD screen with the following 2 options: - Delete: Automatically DELETES the selected image (photo/video) - Cancel: Exits without deleting the image and returns to Playback mode.
17 4. Press the Left/Right button to toggle between the Delete Single File options. 5. Press the Up/Menu button to confirm your selected option. Delete All Files 1. Press the Left/Right button to select and view the image (photo or video) you would like to delete. 2. Press the Up/Menu button in Playback mode. 3. Press the Shutter button to enter Delete All Files menu. 4. A Delete All Files icon appears on the LCD screen with the following 2 options: - Delete: Automatically DELETES all images (photos and videos). - Cancel: Exits without deleting all images and returns to Playback mode. 5. Press the Left/Right button to toggle between the Delete All Files options. 6. Press the Up/Menu button to confirm your selected option. NOTE: If you delete photos and videos from your camera before downloading them to your computer, the files are completely erased from your camera’s memory and will be lost with no recovery.
18 Installing the Vivitar Experience Image Manager Software 1. Insert the installation CD into your CD-ROM drive. PC: The Vivitar Experience Image Manager will begin to install. MAC: Click icon to begin installation then click “Continue”. 2. Please review the license terms. PC: Click the “I accept the terms of this license agreement” and then click “Next” to continue. MAC: Click “Continue” to accept the license agreement. 3. On PC: Let the “Vivitar Experience Image Manager” installer create the folder to where the program will be installed, and then click “Install”. On Mac: Click “Install”. 4. Please wait while the application continues the installation process on your computer. Follow all instructions. 5. On PC: Click the “Close” button when the installation is complete. The application automatically opens. On MAC: After the installation is complete, the application automatically opens. 6. If you closed the application, click on Vivitar Experience Image Manager desktop icon or open and run the application from the Programs menu on your computer.
19 Connecting your Camera to the Computer 1. Use the USB cable that came with your camera to connect your camera to your computer. 2. Your camera will automatically turn on. 3. The first time you connect the device to the computer you will have to wait a few moments until the computer recognizes the device. Getting Photos and Videos from your Camera to your Computer Connect your digital camera to your computer using the USB cable. Do not disconnect the cable during transfer. Doing so will cancel the transfer of any files on their way to your computer. Important: Download your images often to your computer. Images left on the camera will be deleted if the battery power runs low or when the batteries are removed.
