    							Power indicatorThe Power  indicator glows white when the
    computer is turned on. However, if you turn the
    computer off into Sleep Mode, this indicator will
    blink white.Wireless
    communication
    indicatorThe  Wireless communication  indicator glows
    amber when the Bluetooth or Wireless LAN
    functions are turned on.
    Only some models are equipped with Bluetooth
    and Wireless LAN functions.Memory media slotThis slot lets you insert an SD™/SDHC™/ SDXC™ memory card, miniSD™/microSD™
    Card and MultiMediaCard™. Refer to the
    Memory media  section for more information.Keep foreign metal objects, such as screws, staples and paper clips, out of
    the Memory media slot. Foreign metal objects can create a short circuit,
    which can cause damage and fire, possibly resulting in serious injury.
    Left side

    DC IN 19V jackThe AC adaptor connects to this jack in order to
    power the computer and charge its internal
    batteries. Please note that you should only use
    the model of AC adaptor supplied with the computer at the time of purchase - using the
    wrong AC adaptor can cause damage to the
    computer.

    							LAN jackThis jack lets you connect to a LAN. The adaptor
    has built-in support for Ethernet LAN (10
    megabits per second, 10BASE-T), or Fast
    Ethernet LAN (100 megabits per second,
    100BASE-TX). Some models are equipped with
    a Gigabit Ethernet LAN (1000 megabits per
    second, 1000BASE-T). Refer to  Operating
    Basics , for details.Do not connect any cable other than a LAN cable to the LAN jack. It could
    cause damage or malfunction.Universal Serial Bus
    (USB 2.0) portOne or two Universal Serial Bus ports, which
    comply to the USB 2.0 standard, are provided on the left side of the computer.
    The USB 2.0 port is not compatible with USB 3.0 devices.Please note that it is not possible to confirm the operation of all functions of
    all USB devices that are available. Some functions associated with a
    specific device might not operate properly.Keep foreign metal objects, such as screws, staples and paper clips, out of
    the USB port. Foreign metal objects can create a short circuit, which can cause damage and fire, possibly resulting in serious injury.Optical disc driveThe computer may be configured with a DVD

    Headphone jackA 3.5 mm mini headphone jack enablesconnection of stereo headphones.Microphone jackA 3.5 mm mini microphone jack enables
    connection of a mini jack for monaural
    microphone input.
    The jack with the icon (

    function.
    The integrated sound system provides support for the computer's internal
    speakers and microphone, as well as allowing an external microphone and
    headphones to be connected via the appropriate jacks.Universal Serial Bus
    (USB 3.0) portsTwo Universal Serial Bus ports, which comply to
    the USB 3.0 standard, are provided on the right side of the computer.
    The USB 3.0 port is compliant with USB 3.0
    standard and backward compatible with USB 2.0 devices.

    							External RGB monitor
    portThis port provides 15-pin, analog RGB port. Please refer to the  External RGB monitor port pin
    assignment  section for information on external
    RGB monitor port pin assignment. This port
    allows you to connect an external RGB monitor
    to the computer.Cooling ventsThe cooling vents help the processor to avoid overheating.Security lock slotA security cable can be attached to this slot andthen connected to a desk or other large object in
    order to deter theft of the computer.

    Underside The following figures show the underside of the computer. You should
    ensure that the display is closed before the computer is turned over to
    avoid causing any damage.

    Memory module slotThe memory module slot allows for theinstallation, replacement and removal of
    additional memory module.
    The size of the memory modules varies
    depending on the model. The actual amount of
    useable system memory will be less than the
    installed memory modules.
    Refer to the  Additional memory module  section.Cooling ventsThe cooling vents help the processor to avoid
    overheating.Do not block the cooling vents. Keep foreign metal objects, such as
    screws, staples and paper clips, out of the cooling vents. Foreign metal objects can create a short circuit, which can cause damage and fire,possibly resulting in serious injury.

    							Force shut down holeInsert a slender object such as a needle into thishole to force a shut down when the computer is
    hung.
    Front with the display open
    This section shows the computer with the display panel open. In order toopen the display, lift the display panel up and position it at a comfortableviewing angle for you.

    more information.Web Camera LEDThe Web Camera LED glows when the Web
    Camera is operating.Web CameraWeb Camera  is a device that allows you to
    record video or take photographs with your
    computer. You can use it for video chatting or video conferences using a communication tool.Do not point the web camera directly at the sun.
    Do not touch or press strongly on the web camera lens. Doing so mayreduce image quality. Use an eyeglass cleaner (cleaner cloth) or othersoft cloth to clean the lens if it becomes dirty.
    Display screen39.6cm (15.6") LCD screen, configured with the
    following resolutions:
    HD, 1366 horizontal x 768 vertical pixels
    FHD, 1920 horizontal x 1080 vertical pixels
    Please be aware that, when the computer is
    operating on the AC adaptor, the image
    displayed on the internal screen will be
    somewhat brighter than when it operates on
    battery power. This difference in brightness
    levels is intended to save power when operating
    on batteries.

    							KeyboardYour computer’s keyboard contains character
    keys, control keys, function keys, and special
    Windows keys, providing all the functionality of a
    full-size keyboard.
    Refer to the  The Keyboard  section for details.Stereo speakersThe speakers emit sound generated by your
    software as well as audio alarms, such as low
    battery condition, generated by the system.Power buttonPress this button to turn the computer's power on or off.Touch PadThe Touch Pad located in the palm rest is usedto control the movement of the on-screen pointer.
    To use the Touch Pad, simply touch and move
    your fingertip across it in the direction you want
    the on-screen pointer to go.Touch Pad control
    buttonsThe two buttons located on the bottom of the
    Touch Pad are used like the buttons on a
    standard mouse - press the left button to select a menu item or to manipulate text or graphicsdesignated by the pointer, and press the right
    button to display a menu or other function
    depending on the software you are using.Touch Pad ON/OFF
    indicatorDouble-tap this indicator to enable/disable the
    Touch Pad. It also shows the status of the Touch

    NFC (Near Field
    Communication)
    detection areaNFC (Near Field Communication) initiates
    interactions immediately between people and
    objects close the computer. NFC enables quick
    ad-hoc connections from PC to PC, or PC to
    device, through simple physical touch, without
    the pre-requisite of formal pairing. The
    interactions are intended to be quick, simple and
    delightful, simplifying the interactions with daily
    used devices and promoting a more social computing experience.

    							The actual specifications may vary depending on the model you
    purchased.Battery packThis computer includes a battery pack inside. However, please do not attempt to dismount or
    replace it by yourself. Please contact an
    authorized TOSHIBA service provider, if
    necessary.
    The rechargeable lithium-ion battery pack
    provides power to the computer when the AC
    adaptor is not connected.
