    What is HDMI?
The HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface) is the
standard interface for the next-generation TV. By connect-
ing this unit and a TV with the HDMI cable, digital video
signals and audio signals are transmitted through the cable.
You can enjoy digital video and sound without AD/DA
    conversion with easy connection.
In addition, this unit is compatible with HDCP (High-
Bandwidth Digital Content Protection), and HDCP contents can
be viewed if you connect a HDCP compatible TV to this unit.

480p/576p/720p indicates 480/720 scanning lines with
    progressive format.

the larger the number of scanning lines.
You can get better picture quality in the progressive mode
    than in the interlace mode.
Press ENTER while the selected mode
    is displayed.
When the progressive mode is selected, the PROGRESSIVE
indicator lights on the display window.
    NOTE
When selecting “1080i”, the picture shrinks vertically.
Changing the scan mode does not take effect when connecting
the TV with the S-video or video cable.
Although the picture may be distorted when you press
ENTER, this is not a malfunction of the unit.
There are some progressive TVs and High-Definition TVs
that are not fully compatible with this unit, resulting in an
unnatural picture when playing back a DVD VIDEO in
the progressive scan mode. In such a case, change the scan
    mode to the interlace mode.
