7 – Other functions TASCAM CD-D1x4 17 Copy-protection The CD-D1x4 allows copy-protection to be applied to audio discs produced using the unit. There are three settings: 1GENERATION (single-generation copying), where one digital copy (“child”) can be made from the recorded disc, but no digital copies (“grandchil- dren”) can be made from the child. FREE (may be freely copied), where no copy-pro- tection is applied to the recorded disc. PROHIBIT (copy prohibited) which prevents any digital...

20 TASCAM CD-D1x4 8 – Error messages and troubleshooting To clear an error When an error is shown, the unit beeps continuously to attract your attention. To clear the error and stop the beeping, open the drive mentioned in the error message. Error messages ERROR SOURCE alone, or ERROR DRIVE x alternating with ERROR SOURCE may be shown in the case of a dirty, damaged or scratched disc being loaded into the MASTER drive.
