OPERATIONOFTHELUGERPISTOL 1.Removemagazinebypressingmagazinerelease button(A)withrightthumbandbypullingon magazineextension(B)withleftthumbandfore- finger. 2.Toloadmagazine,graspitwiththelefthandso thatthethumbcanbeusedtopulldownonthe magazine-followerbutton(C). 3.Withtherighthand,insert.22longriflecartridges intothemagazinebyplacingrear,rimmedsur- faceofeachcartridgeinthemagazinenotch(D) andslidingcartridgerearwardintothemagazine. (Totalcapacityofthemagazineiselevencar- tridges.) 4.Withbulletendsofcartridgesfacingtowardsthe muzzleslidetheloadedmagazineintothemag- azine-wellofthepistolgrip.Pushupwarduntil themagazineclicksintoitslockedposition. 5.Whilethemagazineisnowloaded,theguncan- notbemadetofireuntilacartridgefromthe magazineisfedintothechamberofthebarrel. Toaccomplishloadingofthechamber,holdthe handguninafiringattitudewiththerighthand (beingcarefultopointitinasafedirection)and graspthetogglebuttons(E)betweenthethumb andforefingerofthelefthand.Thenpullupward andrearwarduntilthetogglereachesitsrearmost position(seefigureII).Now,uponreleasingthe toggle,thespringactivatedboltwillslideforward, pickingupacartridgefromthemagazineand loadingitintothechamber.UNTIL READY TO FIRE,PUTTHESAFETYLEVER(S)INTOTHE ONPOSITION(asillustrated)ATTHISPOINT. 6.TO FIRE: assumeashootingstancefacinginthe generaldirectionofyourtarget.Then,asyou
pointtheguntowardyourtarget,useyourright thumbtoslidethesafetyleverintothe(F)FIRE position. 7.Alignthesightssothatthefrontbladeiscentered intherearsightnotch.(Thetopofthefrontsight shouldbelevelwiththetopoftherearsight). Withthesightsthusaligned,centerthemcare- fullyunderthebulls-eye.Holdthispositionas steadilyaspossiblewhilesqueezingthetrigger. NOTE: Lugersightsarefactoryregulatedtozero atfiftyfeet. 8.IMPORTANT:whenthefirstshotisfired,the Lugerwillreloaditselfautomaticallyandwill continuetofirewitheachsqueezeoftl1etrigger. Whenthemagazinehasbeenemptiedthebolt willremaininitsopenpositionwiththetoggle raised.WHENEVERTHEBREECHIS CLOSED ASSUMETHECHAMBERISLOADEDANDTHAT THEWEAPONISINAFIRINGATTITUDE.BE SURETOEMPLOYTHESAFETYDEVICE. 9.BecausethebreechwiIIremainopenwhenthe lastshotisfired,itispossibletoremovethe magazine,insertanotherloadedmagazine,and simplyclosethebreechtoresumeshooting. AMMUNITION: TheStoegerLugerwillhandleallmakesof.22 LongRiflecartridges,bothstandardandhigh-veloc- ity.ItshouldnotbeusedwithB-BCaps,C-BCaps, shorts,longsorshotcartridges,however,itcanbe madetofiretheseshellswhentheyaresingly loadedintothechamber. 7

CLEANING ANDMAINTENANCE: TheuniquedesignofyourLugerpistolgreatly simplifiesnormalcleaningandlubricatingproce- dures.Itsgreatlyadvancedunitconstructionwill enabletheusertocleantheentirefiringmechanism bysimplysoakinginkerosene.Asoftbristlebrush canbeusedwithkerosenetoremovestubborndirt orpowderdeposits.DONOTUSECOARSEWIRE BRUSHES. Thetake-downplungerhole(J)locatedatthe backoftheframe,isdirectlyinlinewiththebore ofthebarrel.Forthisreasontheborecanbe cleanedbyinsertingarodthroughtheplungerhole. Damagetotheriflingandpossiblelossofaccuracy istherebyprevented.(Nevercleanarifledbarrel fromthemuzzleendifitcanpossiblybecleaned fromtheoppositeend.) Aftercleaninganddryingthekerosene-washed parts,oilmovingsurfaceslightlywithagoodgrade ofgunoil.Donotusegeneralpurposeoilsorauto- motiveoiIsbecausethesetendtohardenandgum whenmixedwithgun-powderdeposits. DONOTUSE STRONG SOLVENTSwhencleaning thefiringmechanism.Solventsareintendedonly forremovingfoulingfromthebarrelboreandshould becarefullyrinsedfromallsurfacesimmediately afteruse. Tocleanthebarrel,useasoftbristlebrushthat hasbeenmoistenedwithkerosene.Drycarefully withflannelpatchesandoilvery,verylightlywith agoodgunoil.Toremoveheavyfouling,brushwith asolventorspecialborecleanerintendedforthis purposeBUTBECAREFULTORINSEALLTRACES OFTHECLEANINGAGENTFROMTHEBOREIM- MEDIATELYAFTERUSE.Alsobesuretooilthe borelightlyafterrinsing.
