APPENDIX BGLOSSARY 387 SMPTE SMPTE is the acronym for the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE). SMPTE timecode is used to synchronize time between devices. The timecode is calculated in Hours:Minutes:Seconds:Frames, where Frames are fractions of a second based on the frame rate. This undo buffer allows the ability to revert to previous versions of the project if you decide you don’t like changes you’ve made to the project.
