Using the TV Menu 41 GB Features menu You can select the options listed below on the Features menu. To select options, see “Navigating through menus” (page 37). Reduces the power consumption of the system. 1Press (OK) to select [Power Saving]. 2Press M/m to select [Reduce], then press (OK). [Standard]: Default settings. [Reduce]: Reduces the power consumption of the TV. [Picture Off]: Switches off the picture. You can listen to the sound with the picture off. Automatically optimizes the picture settings according to the ambient light in the room. 1Press (OK) to select [Light Sensor]. 2Press M/m to select [On] then press (OK). Sets a signal to be output through the socket labelled / 2 on the rear of the system. If you connect a VCR or other recording equipment to the / 2 socket, you can then record from the equipment connected to other sockets of the system. 1Press (OK) to select [AV2 Output]. 2Press M/m to select one of the following, then press (OK). [D-TV]: Outputs a digital broadcast. [A-TV]: Outputs an analogue broadcast. [AV1]: Outputs signals from equipment connected to the / 1 socket. [AV4]: Outputs signals from equipment connected to the 4/ 4 socket. [Auto]: Outputs one of the signals above. Customizes the TV screen as a PC monitor. 1Press (OK) to select [PC Adjustment]. 2Press M/m to select one of the following, then press (OK). [Phase]: Adjust the screen when a part of a displayed text or image is not clear. [Pitch]: Enlarges or shrinkes the screen size horizontally. [H Center]: Moves the screen to the left or to the right. [V Center]: Moves the screen up or down. [Power Saving]: Turns to standby mode if no PC signal is received. [Reset]: Resets to the factory settings. Tip This option is only available if you are in PC Mode. Note When “AUTO” in “Lift Mode” and “On” in “Power Saving” is selected, the lift unit moves up automatically if the system enters standby mode. 42 GB Timer menu You can select the options listed below on the Timer menu. To select options, see “Navigating through menus” (page 37). Notes When the FM is selected, you cannot set the Timer menu. If “AUTO” is set in “Lift Mode,” the lift unit moves up when the system is turned off, or moves down when the system is turned on by the timer (page 72). Sets a period of time after which the system automatically switches itself into standby mode. 1Press (OK) to select [Sleep Timer]. 2Press M/m to select the desired time period ([30min]/[60min]/[90min]/ [120min]), then press (OK). The (Timer) indicator on the lift unit lights up in amber. Tips You can also set the sleep timer by pressing repeatedly. If you switch off the system and switch it on again, [Sleep Timer] is reset to [Off]. [Sleep timer will end soon. Power will be turned off.] appears on the screen one minute before the system switches to standby mode. This message does not appear when the FM is selected. If you press / , the remaining time in minutes before the system switches to standby mode is displayed on the screen. 1Press (OK) to select [Clock Set]. 2Press m/M to select the day, then press ,. 3Set the month, year, and hour in the same way as in step 2. 4Press m/M to select the minute, then press (OK). The clock starts. Starts the “first time operation menu” to tune in all the available channels. Usually you do not need to do this operation because the channels are already tuned when the system was first installed (page 18). However, this option allows you to repeat the process (e.g., to retune the system after moving house, or to search for new channels that have been launched by broadcasters). 1Press (OK) to select [Auto Startup]. 2Press (OK) to select [Yes]. The auto-tune display appears on the screen. 3Follow steps 1 to 4 of “6: Auto-tuning the TV” (page 18). Tunes in all the available analogue channels. Usually you do not need to do this operation because the channels are already tuned when the system was first installed (page 18). However, this option allows you to repeat the process (e.g., to retune the system after moving house, or to search for new channels that have been launched by broadcasters). 1Press (OK) to select [Auto Tuning]. 2Press (OK) to select [Yes]. The auto-tune display appears on the screen. 3Follow step 1 to 4 of “6: Auto-tuning the TV” (page 18). When all available analogue channels have been tuned, the system returns to normal operation.Changes the order in which the analogue channels are stored on the system. 1Press (OK) to select [Programme Sorting]. 2Press M/m to select the channel you want to move to a new position, then press (OK). 3Press M/m to select the new position for your channel, then press (OK). Repeat the procedure in steps 2 and 3 to move other channels if required. Assigns a channel name of your choice up to five letters or numbers. The name will be displayed briefly on the screen when the channel is selected. Before selecting [Label]/[AFT]/[Audio Filter]/[Skip]/ [ATT], press PROG +/– to select the programme number with the channel. You cannot select a programme number that is set to skip (page 46). 1Press (OK) to select [Manual Programme Preset]. 2Press M/m to select one of the following options, then press (OK). AV Preset Option Description LabelYou can conveniently assign a name to any equipment connected to the side and rear sockets. The name will be displayed briefly on the screen when the equipment is selected. Press M/m to select one of the following, then press (OK). [AV1] (or [AV2]/[AV4])/ [VIDEO]/ [DVD]/[CABLE]/ [GAME]/[CAM]/[SAT]: Uses one of these preset labels. [Edit]: Creates your own label. Follow steps 3 through 5 of Programme Labels (page 43). [Skip]: Skips an input source that is not connected to any equipment when you press M/m to select the input source. After selecting this option, press (OK). Sound OffsetSets an independent volume level to each equipment connected to the system. This setting is effective except for the DVD function. Press , to select [Sound Offset], then press (OK). Press M/m to select the desired volume level. When a channel has been found, the search will stop. To continue searching, press M/m. If you know the channel number (frequency) Press the number buttons to enter the channel number of the broadcast you want or your VCR channel number. 5Press (OK). 6Press m to select [Confirm], then press OK. 7Press m to select [OK], then press (OK). Repeat the procedure above to preset other channels manually. LabelAssigns a name of your choice, up to five letters or numbers, to the selected channel. Option Description AFTFine-tunes the selected programme number manually if you feel that a slight tuning adjustment will improve the picture quality. (Normally, fine tuning is performed automatically.) 1Press M/m to adjust the fine tuning over a range of –15 to +15, then press (OK). 2Press m to select [Confirm], then press (OK). 3Press m to select [OK], then press (OK). To restore automatic fine tuning, select [On] in step 1. Audio FilterImproves the sound for individual channels in the case of distortion in mono broadcasts. Sometimes a non- standard broadcast signal can cause sound distortion or intermittent sound muting when watching mono programmes. 1Press M/m to select [Low] or [High], then press (OK). If you do not experience any sound distortion, we recommend that you leave this option set to the factory setting [Off]. 2Press m to select [Confirm], then press (OK). 3Press m to select [OK], then press (OK). Note You cannot receive stereo or dual sound when [Low] or [High] is selected. Option Description Continued

Using the TV Menu 47 GB Option Description Programme List EditRemoves any unwanted digital channels stored on the system, and changes the order of the digital channels stored on the system. 1Press M/m t o s e l e c t t h e channel you want to remove or move to a new position. If you know the channel number (frequency) Press the number buttons to enter the three-digit programme number of the broadcast you want. To display the previous or next five channels Press the red button (previous) or the green button (next). 2Remove or change the order of the digital channels as follows: To remove the digital channel Press (OK). A message that confirms whether the selected digital channel is to be deleted appears. Press , to select [Yes], then press (OK). To change the order of the digital channels Press ,, then press M/m to select the new position for the channel and press (OK). Repeat the procedure in steps 1 and 2 to move other channels if required. 3Press

Any programme that exceeds the age restriction can only be watched after a PIN Code is entered correctly. 1Press the number buttons to enter your existing PIN code. If you have not previously set a PIN, a message appears to inform you. Using the DVD’s Menu 49 GB Navigating through DVD’s menu A DVD is divided into a lot of sections, which make up a picture or music feature. These sections are called “titles.” When you play a DVD which contains several titles, you can select the title you want using DVD TOP MENU. When you play DVDs that allow you to select items such as the language for the subtitles and the language for the sound, select these items using DVD MENU. 1Press DVD TOP MENU or DVD MENU. The disc’s menu appears on the TV screen. The contents of the menu vary from disc to disc. 2Press
50 GB DivX video files that the system can play The system can play data that is recorded in DivX format, and which has the extension “.AVI,” or “.DIVX.” The system will not play files with the extension “.AVI” or “.DIVX” if they do not contain a DivX video. Tip For details about playable MP3 audio tracks or JPEG image files on DATA CDs/DATA DVDs, see “MP3 audio track or JPEG image file that the system can play” (page 59). Notes The system may not play a DivX video file when the file has been combined from two or more DivX video files. The system cannot play a DivX video file of size more than 720 (width) × 576 (height) or 2GB. The system cannot play some DivX video files that are longer than 3 hours. Depending on the DivX video file, the picture may pause or be unclear. In which case, it is recommended that you create the file at a lower bit rate. If the sound is still noisy, MP3 is the recommended audio format. Note, however, this system does not conform to WMA (Windows Media Audio) format. Because of the compression technology used for DivX video files, it may take some time after you press H for the picture to appear. Selecting an album 1Press DVD MENU. A list of albums on the disc appears. Only albums that contain DivX video files are listed. 2Press M/m to select the album you want to play. 3Press H. The system starts playing the selected album. To select DivX video files, see “Selecting a DivX video file” (page 50). To go to the next or previous page Press during playback of the last file of the current album. Note that you cannot return to the previous album by pressing .. To return to the previous album, select it from the album list. Tip If the number of viewing times is preset, you can play the DivX video files as many times as the preset number. The following occurrences are counted: – when the system is turned off. – when the disc tray is opened. – when another file is played.
