2GB To use ‘BRAVIA’ Theatre Sync, set the HDMI CONTROL function as explained below. By connecting Sony components that are compatible with the HDMI CONTROL function with an HDMI cable (not supplied), operation is simplified as below: One-Touch Play: When you play back a component such as a DVD/Blu-ray Disc player, the stand and the TV are turned on automatically and switch to the appropriate HDMI input. System Audio Control: While watching TV, you can select to output the sound from the TV speaker or the speakers of the stand. HDMI CONTROL is a mutual control function standard used by HDMI CEC (Consumer Electronics Control) for HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface). The HDMI CONTROL function will not operate in the following cases: When you connect this stand to a component which is not correspond with Sony’s HDMI CONTROL function. When you connect the stand and components using other than HDMI connection. We recommend that you connect this stand to products featuring ‘BRAVIA’ Theatre Sync. • Do not use the Input SYNC function while the HDMI CONTROL function is active. 3GB We recommend that you do not use components which have an HDMI output jack and components which do not have an HDMI output jack at the same time. If you do so, the HDMI CONTROL function may not work. We recommend you use the Input SYNC function (Programming the remote for TV operation) if you use components which have an HDMI output jack, and components which do not have the HDMI output jack at the same time. 4GB Before you use the HDMI CONTROL function, be sure you have performed the following procedures. For details on setting the TV and connected component, see the operating instructions of them. 1Make sure that the stand is connected to the TV and connected component (which should be compatible with the HDMI CONTROL functions) using a HDMI cable (not supplied). 2Turn on the TV, and set the HDMI CONTROL to “ON,” then switch to the HDMI input connected to the stand. 3Press ?/1 to turn on the stand, and then set HDMI CONTROL to “ON” as follows. 1Press AMP MENU. “LEVEL” appears on the display. 2Press x to select “CUSTOMIZE,” then press or c. “HDMI CTRL” appears on the display. 3Press or c, and then press X. “CTRL ON” flashes on the display. 4Press . “CTRL ON” appears on the display for a few seconds, and then the menu return to the normal display. HDMI CONTROL function is set to ON. 4Turn on the connected component. 5Select the input connected to the component you want to watch (DVD/ BD, SAT, etc,.) of the stand and TV, so that an image from the connected component is displayed. Set the HDMI CONTROL of the connected component to “ON.” 6Repeat steps 4 and 5 for each connected component you want to use the HDMI CONTROL function. You can enjoy the DVD player (recorder) connected to the stand, even if you turn the stand off. The power indicator lights up in orange at this time. You can enjoy the TV sound from the speakers of the stand by means of a simple operation. For details, see the operating instructions of the TV. Press ?/1 to turn on the stand. The sound is output from the speaker of the stand. The sound is output from the TV’s speaker when you turn the stand off. You can adjust the volume and mute the sound of the stand using the TV remote. When the TV is turned on before this stand is turned on, the TV sound will not be output for a moment. When you connect a TV that does not have System Audio Control function, the System Audio Control function does not work. 6GB Using the input buttons of the remote of the stand The input buttons (TV (white), DVD/BD, SAT, AUDIO) work as follows when the HDMI CONTROL is set to “ON.” DVD/BD, SAT: Since the input of the TV is also switched automatically, you can watch the image of the selected component on the TV simply by pressing the buttons. TV, AUDIO: The input of the TV does not switch automatically. Watching a TV program Press TV (white) or TV (orange), then select the program you want to watch using the number buttons or PROG+/–.When you turn the TV off by using the POWER button on the TV’s remote, the stand and the connected components turns off automatically. 1Press TV (orange) on the remote. 2Press AV ?/1. The TV, the stand and the connected component are turned off. Depending on the status, the connected components may not be turned off. 7GB If you experience any of the following difficulties while using the HDMI CONTROL function, use this troubleshooting guide to help you remedy the problem. The HDMI CONTROL function does not work. Check the HDMI connection (page 3). Make sure “HDMI CTRL” is set to “CTRL ON” in AMP menu. Make sure the connected component is compatible with the HDMI CONTROL function. Check the HDMI CONTROL settings on the connected component. See the operating instructions supplied of the connected component. If you change the HDMI connection, connect/disconnect the AC power cord, or there is a power failure, repeat the procedures of “Preparing for the HDMI CONTROL functions” (page 4). The stand may not work correctly if you select a component that is not compatible with the HDMI CONTROL function on the TV side. No sound is output from the stand and TV speaker. Check the volume of the stand and the TV. Select the input of the stand correctly. The sound is output from both the stand and the TV. Mute the sound of the stand or the TV. The System Power Off function does not work. Change the setting of the TV to turn connected components off automatically when you turn off the TV. For details, refer to the operating instructions of the TV. An image does not appear on the TV. Check whether HDMI IN and HDMI OUT are connected in reverse. The TV program does not appear on the TV. Press TV (white) or TV (orange), then select the program you want to watch using the number buttons or PROG+/–. Troubleshooting
