7 Connecting the AC power cord (mains lead)
Before connecting the AC power cords (mains lead) of the subwoofer and the surround amplifier to a 
wall outlet (mains), connect the front, center speakers to the subwoofer and surround speakers to the 
surround amplifier (page 23).
Note• After connecting the AC power cord (mains lead), wait about 20 seconds before turning on the power by pressing 
"/1.

To use the wireless system, you need to set up 
the surround amplifier. Before setting, make 
sure that the wireless transmitter and transceiver 
are inserted into the subwoofer and the surround 
amplifier correctly (page 25).
This wireless system is called “S-AIR”. 
For details of the S-AIR function, see “Using an 
S-AIR Product” (page 74).
The subwoofer transmits sound to the surround 
amplifier that is connected to the surround

neighbours
To prevent the transmission from neighbours, 
you can identify the S-AIR main unit and 
the surround amplifier by performing the 
pairing operation. For details, see “Identifying 
the S-AIR main unit with a specific S-AIR sub 
unit (Pairing operation)” (page 77).

Follow the steps below to make the basic 
adjustments for using the system.
Note• When you connect the system and the TV with the 
component video cord (not supplied) or HDMI cable 
(not supplied), you need to set the type of video 
output for matching your TV. For details, see “Setting 
the type of video output to match your TV” (page 36).

Does your TV accept progressive 
signals?
Progressive is the method for displaying TV 
images which reduces flickering and sharpens 
the image. To use this method, you need to 
connect to a TV that accepts progressive signals.

1Turn on your TV.
2Switch the input selector on the TV to this system.
3Press "/1.
The system turns on.
Unless the mode of the system is set to “DVD,” press FUNCTION on the remote or FUNCTION 
(soft-touch button) on the control unit to select “DVD.”
“No Disc” appears in the front panel display and the system is ready for loading the disc.
4Load a disc.

To save the power in standby mode
Press "/1 while the system turns on, then the system enters standby mode. To cancel standby mode, 
press "/1 once.
To enter power standby mode, make sure that the system is in the following status.
– [CONTROL FOR HDMI] is set to [OFF] (page 71).
– “S-AIR STBY” is set to “OFF” (page 76).
Note• When the system is turned off, do not push a disc into the control unit.
